1 THE ANNUAL WISCONSIN AMERICAN HAIRLESS TERRIER ~MAKE IT NAKED PICNIC~ INVITATION & REGISTRATION (See page 5 for an account of last year s picnic) PICNIC DATE: Saturday, July 26, 2008 TIME: 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM Those of you who d like to help set up please arrive at 9:30 AM LOCATION: Western Waukesha Dog Training Club W1314 Cedar Drive Ixonia, WI, Located between Madison and Waukesha, WI. From I94 take exit 275 (Hwy F) north. Go north on Hwy F for approximately 5 miles. Turn left onto Elmwood Ave. Go less than ½ mile on Elmwood and turn right onto Cedar Drive. As we get closer to the picnic date I will give you my cell phone number in case anyone is having difficulty finding the training club. DEPOSIT: $15.00 per Person /Non Refundable. If the expenses should exceed the amount of deposit monies, a collection will be taken at the picnic. Any monies after expenses have been met will be set aside towards next year s picnic. In past years thus far, it has not been necessary to take a collection. The deposit includes rental of the training club with a fenced in play yard and the catered noon meal. Children under the age of 5 will be exempt from this deposit. 2 Wendy Simon Denoon Rd. Wind Lake, WI NOON LUNCH: Lunch will be served at approximately 12:00/12:30 PM. The noon meal will be a variety of sub sandwiches provided by Cousins Subs in Oconomowoc, WI. Please bring your own beverages. After registration forms are received Cheryl Erps will notify each participant as to what type of dish they will be responsible for bringing to pass. EACH FAMILY WILL NEED TO BRING A DISH TO PASS As we get closer to the picnic date each family will be assigned a dish to pass. For those folks who live a distance, there are many local large grocery chains that have delis where various salad, plates and desserts can be purchased. MISCELLLANEOUS THINGS TO BRING: Lawn chairs Sunscreen Bug repellant Doggie waste bags Doggie toys, balls, etc. Muzzles, if preferred Your own Beverages X Pens and/or crates for hectic times and time outs COATED DOGS: In the past, folks that plan to attend the AHT picnic have asked if they can also bring their coated dogs to the picnic. Many AHT owners have AHTS specifically because they are allergic to coated dogs. Please do not be offended that the dog attendance must be limited to AHTS ONLY. Those of you with coated dogs will need to make alternate arrangements for them. INFO ABOUT THE WESTERN WAUKESHA TRAINING DOG CLUB: The training club is rurally located and has a: Generous sized, air conditioned building Kitchen and two bathrooms Beverage machine ($.50)

3 Very generous parking lot Lovely, 1½ acre, fenced in play yard connected to the building 3 IF YOU ARE FROM OUT OF TOWN/STATE: Why not consider staying the weekend??... There are a number of us that also gather to attend the annual AKC Dog Show on Sunday. We d love to have you join us! The show is sponsored by the Waukesha Kennel Club and will be held July 28th thru the 30th (Fri Sun) at the Waukesha County Exposition Center, Waukesha, WI. The show is held on Waukesha County s large fairgrounds and is held both indoors and outdoors. The show will have every imaginable event and many vendor booths to browse. AKC SHOW/Waukesha Kennel Club (There are also pet friendly motels listed on this site) MOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS: Those of you familiar with the area know that Milwaukee is famous for its many summer festivals and activities. Motel and camping accommodations can be very, very difficult to come by during the summer months. Folks from past years have had a very difficult time booking reservations even a month prior to the picnic. You would be wise to book your accommodations now!!! Pet friendly with excellent/free breakfast, etc. and those staying there have said it s been nice to have the extra visit time with other AHT owners staying there. 6 ~MAKE IT NAKED PICNIC ACCOUNT~ Saturday, July 28, 2007 the annual "Make It Naked" picnic was held at the Western Waukesha County Training Club in Ixonia, Wisconsin. 40 fun loving folks attended the picnic with their na kid little treasures of assorted sizes. The hairless tail count was 23. States represented this year were Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, and WI. For those of you not familiar with The Make It Naked" picnic, it is an annual gathering of some really neat folks who are actually owned by their American Hairless Terriers (a delightful hairless dog breed). Many folks attending the picnic have been deprived of the companionship of various coated pets prior to the arrival of this wonderful little hairless breed. Each year we gather to celebrate the breed and enjoy each other s company. Attendees have become like family, greeting one another and spending the day catching up on the past year s events and happenings. Unfortunately this year I had some major health problems but was very blessed that Cheryl Erps was able to take over for me. Cheryl's husband Dick and her Aunt Bev did a wonderful job helping us have the picnic come off without a hitch. Linda Moore also pitched in making adorable little doggie treat tins for each attendee AND securing our photographer this year. Those who were there a little early helped with set up and those who were able to stay later helped with cleanup. We couldn't have done it without everyone!!! Many thanks and blessings to all! As always each family s AHT/AHTS wore specific colored bandanas so they could be easily identified. With 23 romping, rambunctious AHTS running about it sure is nice to be able to pick yours out of the wildly running nakid herd. Tucked into each doggie bag again were the AHT Road Maps identifying AHTS, their sex, owner, breeder and the color of bandanna they wore. The road maps have proven to be nice ice breakers for new attendees and generate much conversation regarding the breeders and parentage of each AHT. It is always fun to find a long lost littermate and compare their resemblances and differences. Hopefully next year I will be able to add the parents of each AHT. This year Cousin s subs in Oconomowoc, WI provided our lunch along with dishes to pass brought by the picnic attendees. The snacks and various goodies kept everyone fueled for the duration of the day. We were delighted to have Sharkey Animal Portraits taking portraits and candids this year. Sharkey s is owned and operated by Jenn Sharkey from Madison, WI ( , jenn@sharkeyanimalportraits.com ). At any given time Jenn could be seen in a variety of positions capturing photos of our event and portraits of both AHTS and the folks they own. Thanks for the great job Jenn.
