6 HOST HOTEL & SHOW SITE All events except hunt tests will be held at the host hotel. Holiday Inn, Downtown Everett 3105 Pine St., Everett, WA or Be sure to mention you are with SCOA when making reservations to obtain the SCOA discount. Room rates: $106 (1 King or 2 Doubles) per night, plus tax. (The tax rate is 11.2%, plus additional $1 room/night for Snohomish CO TPA (Tourism Promotion area tax) all taxes are subject to change without notification, $118.87/NIGHT.) Quoted rate is good for double occupancy. There is an additional $10 charge for the 3rd and 4th adult occupying each room. Pet deposit fee is $40 one-time non-refundable fee. There will be a limit of 4 dogs per room. Owner must provide plastic sheeting under all kennels/crates & covering on bedding. Damages caused by dogs in guest rooms or on hotel property may incur additional cleaning or repair fees per the discretion of hotel management. Dogs left in guest rooms must be contained in a kennel or crate to prevent damages to the guest room and allow housekeeping to clean the rooms efficiently. Should dog owners (s) leave their dog unattended in any area of the hotel, hotel is not responsible or liable for monitoring dogs activity. When using outside grass facilities all dog owners must clean up after their dogs. Inspections may be arranged with hotel staff at time of check-in or during the week. PLEASE COMPLY WITH THE FOLLOWING RULES & RESTRICTIONS FOR HOTEL GUESTS WITH DOGS 1. Dogs must be crated when in guest rooms when their owners are not present. 2. Plastic is required under all crates, owners must provide their own plastic. 3. All room must be available for cleaning and ALL privacy signs must be removed by 11 a.m. each day unless prior arrangements are made. NO EXCEPTIONS. Anyone refusing service will be charged $25 per day of refused service. 4. For the safety of the hotel staff, all rooms must have a sign on the outside of the door to indicate dogs are occupying the room. The Housekeeping Staff requires that you allow cleaning daily. 5. Dogs MUST be on leash when walking in hallways or any public areas of the hotel. 6. No dogs are permitted poolside or in any restroom. 7. No bathing or grooming in the hotel rooms. Offenders are subject to eviction. 8. The use of hotel towels or linens for pets is prohibited. Upon request, the hotel will provide old sheets to guests to place over the beds in guestrooms with dogs. 9. No grooming in any public areas inside the hotel. A bathing station will be provided by SCOA with a hose and water. A grooming area will be provided and clearly marked. You must however bring your own towels. 10. Designated areas will be assigned for exercising dogs, please use only these areas and clean up after all dogs. 11. Any guest whose dog makes excessive noise will receive one warning to remedy the situation. If the problem persists after this warning, hotel management reserves the right to remove the offending dog and guest from the hotel. 12. The Group will assign a liaison to meet daily with the Head of Housekeeping and hotel management to ensure that all of its members are complying with hotel rules. Any offenders will be asked to leave the hotel immediately, with no refunds. The offending guest(s) will be held responsible for all charges in the event damage occurs to the room. 13. $40.00 non refundable deposit per room is required at check-in from the guests with dogs in rooms. 7 OFF-PROPERTY TRANSPORTATION Thank you for attending the 2016 SCOA National Specialty hosted here at the Holiday Inn Downtown Everett. If you are traveling by RV and staying off-property at a nearby RV-friendly camp/park and you are a Registered Guest Attendee we are happy to assist with transportation to and from the hotel. Transportation will be provided using the hotel shuttle, taxi cab, or an UBER car service depending on hours of the day requested and availability at time of request. Transportation will be covered by the hotel to and from RV parks only, additional transportation will be at the cost of the guest. Arrangements can be made the day of required service through the hotel front desk by dialing extension 0. Small pets are allowed on Share Ride and private service when in an appropriate pet container with outside dimensions not to exceed 27" long x 20" wide x 19" high that can fit at your feet in the vehicle. We must be notified at time of booking. If your pet carrier does not fit at your feet, it can be put in the back. This will count as one of your checked pieces of luggage. Guests with large kennels exceeding 27" long x 20" wide x 19" high must book a private van. Exceptions: properly harnessed or leashed service animals, including seeing eye, hearing impaired, and certified search dogs, will be carried free of charge. MAJORS provided that the number of dogs competing in the regular classes of the Reserve Winner s sex totals at least twice the number required for a five point major, in the region in which the event is held. (Per AKC changes to Chapter 16, Sectrion 1, Rules Applying to Dog Shows, for National Club Specialties.) JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP COMPETITION NOVICE CLASS: For boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show and who at the time entries close have not won three (3) first place awards, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. OPEN CLASS: For boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show, and who have won three first place awards in a Novice Class in a licensed or member show, with competition present in the Novice class. Juniors which according to their records have completed the requirements to compete in the Open class but whose status is unconfirmed by the American Kennel Club are limited to competing in the Open Class for a period of 90 days from the date of the show where the Junior completed the requirements according to their records. MASTER CLASS: This class will be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years on the day of the show, and who have 10 Best Junior wins with competition. The calendar for this class will be consistent with the eligibility dates for the AKC Eukanuba National Championship. All Juniors meeting the criteria for this class are required to enter the Master Class and may change their entry the day of the show if entries have already closed. Once the eligibility time frame for that year has passed all participants return to the Open Class to compete for the following year. NOVICE AND OPEN CLASS DIVIDED: Junior-9 years old and under 12 years old on the day of the show; Intermediate-12 years old and under 15 years old on the day of the show; Senior-15 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show. NOTICE: Junior Handlers must include their AKC JUNIOR HANDLER NUMBER on each entry. You may obtain your junior identification number by calling the AKC, Judges Education Department, (919) BE SURE ALL INFORMATION for Junior Showmanship Classes is entered on front and back of entry form. NOTE: SUBSTITUTION OF DOG IN JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP AT THE SHOW(S): There will be an Administration Fee of $5.00 charged for any substitution of dog in Junior Showmanship at each show. 15 PARADE OF VETERANS FRIDAY, MAY 20 The 2016 Parade of Veterans honors the veteran Spinoni who have brought credit to the breed in the field, show, rally, obedience, agility, therapy, and other performance areas, most importantly as a treasured companion. All Spinone 7 years of age and older may participate. The 2016 Parade of Veterans will honor the Veterans present at the 2016 National Specialty and each will be announced as they enter, and will receive a commemorative ribbon and a Bronze SCOA Medallion. For each Veteran walking in the parade, please furnish a brief paragraph (100 words or less) which will be read as each dog enters the area and 3 or 4 of your favorite pictures of your Veteran, which will be displayed. The paragraph should include the age of the dog, parents (if known), breeder (if known), accomplishments and a sentence about why they are the best Spinoni. There is NO ENTRY FEE. Indicate Parade class on the entry form. IN ADDITION: For those veterans who are unable to attend; a brief slideshow will be developed and showcased after the parade, honoring those Spinoni who continue to make a difference but did not travel to Washington. GROOMING RESERVATION There are 64-7ft x 15ft grooming spaces available, with a total of 10 double electrical outlets to be shared. These spaces can accommodate 4-5 dogs per space. Also available: 5ft x 5ft grooming space for 1-2 dogs. The Show Committee reserves the right to stack or rearrange equipment as necessary & to remove equipment or crates left in undesignated areas. She has trained and shown her Rottweilers and Manchester Terriers in various AKC events. After success in the Manchester conformation ring, she started working in Obedience and then Rally. Her dogs have earned several titles, along with CGC and Therapy certifications. Regina has been instructing classes in Conformation, Obedience, Rally and Canine Good Citizenship for many years, and is now working toward her Rally judging license, and then maybe on to Obedience judging. TUESDAY CANINE MASSAGE SEMINAR DEBBY ZUBER Debby and her husband Jeff own a thriving, full-service canine grooming and retail establishment. Her massage practice specializes in rehabilitative and geriatric massage. She works with veterinarians to develop treatment plans focusing on restoring strength and flexibility; and maintaining muscle health and balance. In 2005, Debby s Border Collie needed TPLO surgery to repair a cruciate ligament tear in her left knee. Debby s interest in restoring this vibrant, active dog to full health was a significant driving factor in her interest in animal massage therapy. In 2001, after closing the boarding kennel, she published her first book and started holding seminars, working clinics and public speaking engagements all over the world. She has also served as a consultant in canine behavior, worked regularly with search and rescue teams, and done extensive work with a dog who is participating in a cancer detection program. Her area of specialization is problem behaviour in canines, including aggression. She has published many articles and books and is listed in Voices: Extraordinary Women of Midland County. 21 NOTICE TO EXHIBITORS ALL EVENTS The American Kennel Club Rules and Regulations will govern this Show and Exhibitors must make themselves familiar with the agreement of the American Kennel Club, referred to on the reverse side of the entry blanks that accompany this Show Premium List. The American Kennel Club will collect: a $3.00 Event Service Fee and $.50 Recording Fee where applicable for the first entry of a dog, plus a $3.00 service fee for each additional entry of the same dog in the regular and non-regular recordable single-entry classes, in all AKC licensed and member club events. At every licensed or member club rally trial, a recording fee of $3.50 is required for the first entry of each dog and a recording fee of $3.00 is required for each additional entry of the same dog. The event-giving club shall assume the responsibility of collecting all Event Service Fees for The American Kennel Club. These event service and recording fees shall be forwarded to The American Kennel Club along with all other required event results within seven (7) days of the close of the event. No Entry will be accepted which specifies any condition as to its acceptance. Telegraph, and unsigned entries cannot be accepted and will be returned. Entries not on Official AKC Entry Forms and Photocopies of Entry Forms without Agreement and Rules on reverse side are NOT ACCEPTABLE. The Club and/or Baray Events assumes no responsibility for wrong or incomplete information given on the entry blank by the owner or the owner s agent. RESPONSIBILITY FOR COMPLETENESS OF ENTRY RESTS SOLELY WITH ENTRANT. RETURNED CHECKS DO NOT CONSTITUTE A VALID ENTRY FEE. BaRay Events will add a $30.00 collection fee to the amount of each returned check. We will not re-process checks. The exhibitor will be contacted & required to send a money order for the original amount PLUS the $30.00 NSF fee. Subsequent returned checks from same person may result in their being put on a CASH ONLY BASIS. REFUNDS for cancellations due to judge change or cancellations made prior to entries closing will be mailed by the Club to said Exhibitor or Agent AFTER THE SHOW. An administrative fee of $5.00 will be withheld from all refunds for entries cancelled prior to the closing of entries. Females in season are not permitted to compete in Obedience or Rally Trials. If a female is withdrawn from competition because it came into season and the Superintendent is notified no later than one half hour prior to the start of the first class in the trial, the club is required to refund the entry fee. The club may retain a processing fee and must publish this information in the premium. Clubs may determine the documentation, if any that is required to confirm the female is in season. This shall be stated in the premium. Note: No fee is paid to the AKC for females in season who are withdrawn. FAX ENTRIES Fax entries will be accepted up to closing time. Fee is $4.00 per dog per show. If the credit card charge is denied for any reason, an additional service charge of $20.00 will be added. FAX NUMBER: (360) This is for Fax Machine ONLY. Incomplete or illegible Fax entries are not acceptable as a valid entry in a show. Proof of transmission is not proof of receipt of a legible or complete transmission (under AKC Rule Ch. 11, Sec. 4). A Fax- Friendly entry blank PDF is available for download at Entries will be acknowledged after entries close with entry acknowledgment and judging program to address on entry. Should Exhibitor NOT receive an acknowledgment within a reasonable time, PLEASE notify BaRay Events at (360) or dogshows@barayevents.com. Entry fees shall NOT be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, sick, lame, excused by the Judge or Veterinarian, or barred from competition by action of the Show Committee, or because it has been entered incorrectly. There is no refund for DUPLICATE ENTRIES or OVERPAYMENTS. If, because of riots, civil disturbances or other acts beyond the control of the management it is impossible to open, or to complete the Show NO REFUND will be made. To find out about any AKC event cancellations call the AKC Event Cancellation Hotline Please note: Any hotel or motel listed in the premium list is subject to Event Committee Rules. We expect our exhibitors to be responsible guests. A report that an exhibitor at this show has abused hotel or motel property during this weekend may result in disciplinary action. Clubs reserve the right to decline future entries from the offending party in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 11, Section 15 of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows. Dogs need be present only for scheduled judging and will be released if not needed for further judging. Dogs must be ready for judging. Neither the club nor its Superintendent/Show Secretary will be responsible or obligated to furnish any service for notifying exhibitors or their agents of Breed or Class Judging. Judges need not wait for any dog holding up a class. Owners or agents alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging rings. Only dogs eligible for these shows will be admitted into the show area. There is no provision for unentered dogs. LOSS OR DAMAGE The Show Committee will use due care and diligence for the welfare of dogs and exhibitors, but will not be responsible for, or assume any liability in the event of any accident or misfortune, to either dogs or exhibitors participating in these Shows. The welfare of an Exhibitor s child is assumed to be the responsibility of the Exhibitor. It is distinctly understood that Exhibitors will exercise control and restraint over their children. Exhibitors should follow their veterinarians recommendation to assure their dogs are free of internal and external parasites, any communicable diseases, and have appropriate vaccinations. ALL RIGHTS TO TELEVISE, VIDEOTAPE, ADVERTISE, PHOTOGRAPH, PROMOTE or otherwise exploit this event are vested in the Club, or in persons to whom assignments of such rights have been made in writing by the Club. All persons and animals on the Show Grounds at any time while the show is in progress, do by attending this show or participating therein, grant to the Club the right to photograph, televise, videotape, audiotape or otherwise use their likeness and voice in any manner without further release or consent.
