4 Workshop is in Castetter Hall 53 (see campus map in appendix) : Field trip to La Joya State Wildlife Area and vicinity The La Joya area is owned by the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish and is a State Wildlife Area known for its diversity and good herping. The area spans a wide variety of habitats (sand dunes, mesquite flats, cottonwood bosque, aquatic areas). This field trip will have a casual format allowing SWPARC participants to enter the site for group and self-directed exploration. The group will depart from the UNM campus and those individuals who drive their own vehicles can leave at whatever time suits their needs. Meals will not be provided. NMGF will be setting live traps the day before the trip to help ensure that field trip participants will be able to see some of the aquatic turtles present. 4
