LUKES SILVERHILL (WED EVE) LAST CLASSES 6th DECEMBER RESTART: WEDNESDAY EVENINGS AT ORE & SILVERHILL ***** 10th JANUARY 2018 ***** INCLUDING NEW COURSE AT ORE ***************************************************************************************** SPECIAL FUND RAISING EVENT AT SILVERHILL & ORE WEDNESDAY 29 TH NOVEMBER 2017 SPONSORED STAYS FOR THE CINNAMON TRUST CHARITY + SPECIAL FUN NOVELTY SHOW (ROSETTES TO 3 RD PLACE) This was a well-supported event held simultaneously at St. Lukes and Christ Church. The money taken on the night for the Novelty Dog Show, plus the Sponsorship money, will be totalled up after Christmas and the figures will be made available. So please all you clever dog owners who did the STAY, get all your promises in so that you can bring the cash to Club straight after the New Year (preferably 10 th January) with your completed form. Anyone who wants to add a donation, however small, please add your name to someone else s form and give them the money to add to their total. The Club paid for the halls and the rosettes so all the money raised will go to the Cinnamon Trust.

3 FINAL EVENT OF THE YEAR THE CHRISTMAS Party Wednesday 13 th December Starts 7.30 p.m. sharp TILL AROUND 9.30 P.M. All paid up members welcome together at Christ Church Ore venue. Please bring lots of 1 coins and 50ps for your entry, ( 1 adults, 50p children) and for extra tickets for a very special raffle and guess the weight of the boozy cake. This is our first Christmas Party with Cinnamon Trust as our chosen Charity and we hope this event, together with the Fun Evening/Sponsored Stay event will get our fundraising off to a good start. Food will be provided by members (you will all be asked for your choice to bring) we really appreciate something a bit special so we get a good mix of sweet and savoury to suit everyone s taste, young and older! Tea, coffee and soft drinks free for all. Don t forget your Christmas cards or better still put a donation in the Charity box. IT IS IMPORTANT TO HIGHLIGHT THOSE OLDER/RESCUE/REHOMED DOGS EXCEEDING THE AGE LIMIT FOR THE KENNEL CLUB PUPPY COURSE BUT WHICH ALSO COMPLETE THIS 6 WEEK SESSION AND, HAVING ATTENDED ALL THE CLASSES ARE AWARDED A MERIT ROSETTE AND ATTENDANCE CERTIFICATE. THESE OWNERS AND DOGS OFTEN CARRY ON AND SUCCEED IN PASSING THEIR KC BRONZE TEST (AND SILVER AND GOLD) LATER. This year s successful older Course dogs are listed below. 5 WELL DONE to all our 2017 successes! But remember those who were not quite ready, possibly just one exercise holding them back. Please keep training, especially if your dog really enjoys coming to classes, that is what we aim for. The end result may not be a fancy rosette but more importantly having a dog who is a loving, well-behaved FRIEND and COMPANION who means the world to you. Good Luck. Food for thought Let s Begin So we have decided to go to puppy class to train our dog! dog has been so good in puppy class that we wish to take our good citizen tests, dog passes Good Citizen tests then what?? All sorts of possibilities have opened for you to enjoy your lovely well trained pet, there are so many dog sports to do they are fun for you & the dog & keeps you both fit & healthy. To mention just a few, there is Rally, Agility, Field Trials, Gundog training and at this club we like to produce candidates for the Kennel Club Special Pre-Beginners competition, we have been very successful at this and have had members compete all the way to Crufts. It's not hard to do either, you need to commit yourself to continue training your dog to be able to go to open Obedience Shows where the Good Citizen Pre-Beginners classes are held. These classes are open to dogs of any breed so you don't need a pedigree dog to compete, any non pedigree dog as long as it is registered on the KC Activity register can enter the class. Ask any of the Clubs trainers for information about training & entering for these classes then hopefully you will be bitten by the Obedience Bug when you see what you & your dog can accomplish together. If you are interested in any of the other dog sports then we can steer you & your dog towards the correct societies that run training for them. Enjoy your dogs.

6 DISCOVER DOGS COACH TRIP Sunday 22 nd October 2017 We had a lovely outing with Coach driver Phil who always puts us at our ease, drives smoothly and gets us there on time! in fact early we shall have to leave a little later in future as they don t open at the ExCel until 10am for this event. We hired a 23 seater coach and had 21 passengers. The Club subsidised the coach cost to make it a really good value day out. The entry tickets were bought in advance so expense was kept to a minimum all the more to spend on goodies and presents. As we leave from Hastings at 8.15 a.m. and return to the same spot around 6.30 p.m. it make a comfortable day for even our least fit members. Family and friends are also welcome with a bit extra to pay for non-members. Hope we shall do it again next year. Keep that weekend free. We will give you all membership forms to fill in and update information please and return to us on Club night with As our last training week is 6 th December, please bring your renewal form and money on the FIRST NIGHT BACK 10 TH JANUARY (not to the Christmas Party please!) **** A LITTLE HELP FROM MEMBERS PLEASE**** It might seem a little thing but you have no idea how much we appreciate you keeping in touch if you cannot attend classes for any reason. We miss you and your dog when you don t turn up.are you ill? Is your dog OK? Family crisis? Something we ve missed at class? Gone on holiday and forgot to say? Most of the Instructors names and telephone numbers are at the top of this newsletter and if the person you want to contact is NOT there, sorry, leave a message with someone whose name you recognise. But seriously, a quick sorry, I can t make it to YOUR instructor takes the pressure off and we can let other class members know you will be back next week. They too may wonder where you are.
