2 The Parti Line Page 2 PRESIDENT S MESSAGE To MCPCA Members. Bark! Bark! Hooray! What a fantastic specialty we had! Kathy, Chris, Ruth and many more did a bark up job and deserve a lot of tail-wagging! We had a great raffle with some terrific donations from many members. I know there were some frustrations with the timing and set up due to UKC's requirements. It was certainly challenging to do Top 10 breed and semi-finals, show in the United Retriever Club specialty, then scramble to get our specialty set up following a couple of other breed specialties in our ring. I think we'll need to discuss what we want to do in 2 years for our next one. But, all told, it was a great success. The Meet and Greet was great. How nice to renew our friendships in person and meet some new folks that are interested in our beloved multi's. I still think we should have stormed the dock diving pool and done a splash mob! 3 The Parti Line Page 3 SHOW CHAIRMAN REPORT To MCPCA Members. Well Premier is here and gone, and I believe everyone involved can say, What a whirlwind! Thank you to everyone that entered and supported our show. We had an entry of 50 including Novice Puppy and Altered entries. It was great seeing everyone from around the country and even a few from Canada. A special thanks to our Specialty Judge Mary King. Also a big thank you to Phil Tanner and Richard Klatt for keeping the show running and make it fun along the way. Big shout out thank you to Chris Musson for personally helping me set up the ribbons and trophies. Thanks also to all the committee members and those that donated trophies and items for the raffle table. Can t forget our Raffle table Coordinator, Ruth Parulis for setting up and running the raffle table. Thanks so much! That was arranged so nicely and looked gorgeous. Ruth even brought her own help; best friend Mary. Mary doesn t even own a poodle, but is just a great friend and she has helped out at past MCPCA events. To those of us that had our first experience at running a Specialty Show, a lot was learned. We are already thinking of ways to improve the next show. Note to self; Do not enter dogs that I plan to show myself! LOL Lucky for me, my beautiful daughter, Nicole, stepped in and showed all our dogs herself, and made me very proud. Remember the UKC Premier is held every year, but our MCPCA Specialty is only held every two years, so we all have lots of time to plan! Until then. Kalamazoo or Bust 2014! 5 The Parti Line Page 5 RAFFLE COMMITTEE REPORT From the Raffle Committee 2012 MCPCA Specialty Raffle I would like to thank everyone who donated items for the raffle table at the MCPCA Specialty. We had a diverse selection of raffle items and the winners were very excited and enthusiastic about their winning items. An exceptional BIG " Thank You" to the following members for their handmade items: *Karen Kearney for the beautiful artwork *Karen Scopel for the beautiful quilt squares and pillow case *Bren Osborn for the beautiful resin and poodle magnets and items *Lavena Chapman for the beautiful Poodle quilt (with the "paw print"stitching) *Jean Urban (and friends) for the beautiful blanket, quilts, pillows, and tissue covers. Phoebe did really well at her very first show. She earned a Best Female win at the. United Retriever Club Specialty show. PREMIER, RETRIEVER CLUB & MCPCA SPECIALTY BRAGS from Karen Scopel of Prairiedog Standard Poodles UCD URO3 GRCH Prairiedogs' Ballroom Dancer RE, aka Sherman, took Best of Breed for Multi-Colored Standard Poodles in the Top Ten Finals. He made the first cut in the group for the semi-finals but didn't place in the final cut. Sherman also took Best of Breed at the United Retriever Club Specialty. In the MCPCA Specialty he took Best of Breed and went Reserve Best Poodle in Specialty. GRCH CNC's I've Got a Secret, aka Secret, got the Award of Merit in the Top Ten breed competition for the Multi standards. She went BOB on Saturday in the All Breed show and made the first cut in Gun Dog group. She's 17 months old. CNC's Pride and Prejudice, aka Parker, My new multi standard puppy, took Best NL Multi Puppy at the MCPCA Specialty. Parker is 4 months old.
