Thank you for the cards, hugs, gifts, flowers, and for being so thoughtful. Especially thank John & Stacy for organizing it and ordering the most awesome cake i ever saw. This goes down in history!!! 5 Page 5 The Blues News On behalf of the "Bag People<" thank you so much for the goodies that you donated. And how can anyone thank the "Bag People" for taking care of the lunches for 3 days for another club. You all are absolutely wonderful!!! Donna t Puppy Fun How many people who either have a puppy or will be getting a puppy be interested in a puppy social party? I know there are several out there including myself. There's tons of new info and ideas out there to help our puppies adjust to the big world, including agility, obedience, rally, tricks and therapy. The idea is to start introducing them to some of the things they will see. There would be no formal training, you do what you want. We can have out the wobble boards, low table, jump uprights, wheelchair, walker, bubble wrap to walk on, tarps, other funny surfaces, wear hats or any other weird stuff we can come up with. We can meet once a month and exchange ideas for the next time and work with schedules. Even if the training room is booked, we can do a road trip somewhere. We can work with each others puppies. Even an older dog that is socially backwards may benefit from this. The idea is more a social fun party for them...and us too! If interested please PM me to get on a list. Holly R

To remove from small cup place in warm water until comes out easily. Makes 7-9 2oz treats. Trial pics, Wonder and her friend Martha the St Bernard puppy Amy I just wanted to give a shout out and big thanks to Beth and Tom Anderson, who gave up their Saturday to help screen new HOPE AACR members. We only screen new applicants once a year, and so finding the space, location for the Eastern region, time/ date, and then the volunteers needed to make the day long event come together is a project. While this is not a "Blue Ridge" event, I hope they can count it as credit for their membership... many of our therapy dog teams from BRDTC eventually show interest in becoming HOPE teams, or advancing their therapy skills in some way. One noteable commendation about BRDTC members is they are always willing to pull together to help other members and dog folks when needed. IT is a super group to belong to. Another helper, Bunny Henrad, also volunteered - not sure if she is a member, though she has taken classes at BRDTC, and of course the incomparable Diana Lieber was there as a screener and the doorway "gatekeeper". ONE-DAY RALLY SEMINAR with AKC Rally Judges Joanie and Dave Brobst Saturday, October 14, 2017 ~ 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. CDOTC training room Crimora Recreation Center 1648 New Hope Road Crimora, VA Since 1985, the Brobsts have owned and trained Norwich Terriers. In Obedience our Norwich Terriers have obtained 4 CDs, 3 CDXs, 2 UDs, and 1 VER. At the time of the first UD, there were fewer than 10 Norwich Terriers with a UD in the USA. In Rally, they have obtained 3 RNs, 3 RAs, 2 REs, and 1 RAE. Our Norwich was the first Norwich in the country to earn the RAE title. In Freestyle, one of our Norwich earned a CFF Level 2 title and came in first in a group competition. We have titled one of our Norwich in agility obtaining the MX and AXJ titles. Our Therapy Norwich goes to a Nursing Home each week and sits with the residents while we call BINGO. Currently we are ready to show in AKC Open, most likely in the Preferred class and our new Norwich puppy is working on this and that. For many years, we have taught all levels of Obedience and Rally classes. We both are AKC Rally Judges and Dave is also an AKC Open level Obedience Judge. This seminar will cover what you need to know to show in the Rally classes and will cover all the new exercises and signs! It is suitable for beginners to advanced participants. Be prepared to work your dogs and HAVE FUN! WHAT TO BRING: You, your dog, a chair and crate. There is limited crating room, so additional dogs are discouraged, but we will try to be flexible! We have a heated small room for crating. The training room is not climate controlled so dress appropriately. Questions? 12 The Blues News Page 12 WAGS & BRAGS Saturday was a bit of a momentous day. Pi went Best of Opposite and earned the final point she needed to finish her Grand Champion Bronze title! It takes 100 Grand Champion points to earn this title. At breed shows, the most points a dog can earn in one day is five, depending on how many dogs of your breed are entered. This is the first Grand Champion Bronze title I have earned with one of my dogs. Pi is now: GCHB Keepsake EZ As Pi For Nightwind Now its time to make a plan to put some titles at the other end of her name, just like her daddy, Frosty! Margaret Bissell Keepsake Kees Here s a picture of Cowboy and I posing in our costume for latest freestyle routine, In the MIrror, music by Yanni. We won High Point award in both artistic impression and technical merit a couple weeks ago in WCFO competition. Evelyne Williams Data (aka the Red Rocket) also jumped at the NADD dock event in Winchester this weekend. His best jump of the weekend was 22'9". The average of his top 5 NADD jumps this season (since Dec.) has placed him as the #2 Golden in the country right now! OMG! His average is 22'3" and the #1 Golden has an average of 23'6". Data's personal best in NADD is 25'. There are still more jumps to be done before October so things can change quickly. Data hopes to qualify for the AKC/NADD Invitational in Orlando again this year. Again, thanks to Rinn Siegrist for videotaping for us since we were both on the dock. Can you hear Nancy Runion leading the "Data, Data, Data" chant on the sidelines? 13 The Blues News More Brags! Page 13 A picture of Satchmo's accomplishments from his busy weekend last week playing AKC agility and NADD dock diving. He had two beautiful standard runs with two sets of perfect weave poles and pulled out a Q in one cause he had to visit an old friend ring crewing. He also did 25 jumps off the dock over 3 days with 4 distance jumps and 2 Air Retrieves. His best was a 20.1 foot jump and he grabbed the toy in AR at 17 feet. Joy Baby Caper, Kerwynd's Madcap Caper in Cozumel, earned her CGC May 9th. She wasn't happy about the picture! Janice
