2 President s Mes sa g e As many of you know, I recently suffered a detached retina in my left eye and had to undergo emergency surgery. It will not go down as one of the Top Ten Most Fun things I have done in my life. Partly due to the fact that I had to remain immobile for so long but mostly because the whole process just sucked! I am happy to report that things are much be t t er and I have now been released to normal activity which means tha t I can train my dogs normally once again. I will probably always have some vision impairment in that eye but I can tell you that the vision I do have is much better than the "black" that I had prior to the surgery. I wanted to use this space to thank everyone for the outpouring of well-wishes, the stack of cards and the gift basket that I received in the mail. All of it is super appreciated. I even got a card from Stefan and Petra Mueller in Germany. That was an extremely pleasant surprise and I am happy to report that they are doing well and send everyone their best. Their daughter Clarissa is starting school and Phillip is going into preschool! That doesn't seem right at all... The General Membership Meeting is scheduled for Friday, October 15, 2010 at 7:30 pm. This will be the last mee ting of the year which means tha t it will be the las t chance to meet the requirement of meeting attendance required for yearend awards. As with last year, these requirements will be checked so if you have not been at a meeting as of yet for the 2010 calendar year, please make note of the date and we will see you then. We will also be going back to and following the old way of doing things at this meeting. I of course am referring to Brags! They will cost once again. You all got a free ride last time while I was writhing in pain on my sofa. Not this time...i feel good! LOL See you at the meeting. 3 Want to be on the club list? NOCI memb ers: send a mes sage t o Member-list- noci- subscribe@yahoogroups.com Leave the subject line blank. If there are problems, please contact Arlene King at mzking.tdx@sbcglobal.net. Our TDX was held on Sunday, Sept 5 th this year, which was earlier than usual. We had to move up our date due to the availability of Burnidge Forest Preserve. Our normal date falls at the end of September. Our judges, Wally O Brien and Donna Kircher, plotted out some nice tracks. The weather conditions were perfect! We were glad that the hot weather stayed away but unfortunately, we only had one out of five dogs pass, which reminds us how challenging tracking can be. I d like to thank all our workers: Nanci Lorenz Gary Bozee Sandy Lewandowski Jean Baumann Gail O Brien Ray Czubek Gary Vierck Arlene King Robin Shine Thanks to this core group of people for donating your weekend, and for your continued support! Amber Perri, TDX Chairman and Secretary NOCI s 27 th Annual AKC Winter Obedience and 6 th Annual Rally Trials will be held on Friday, December 17 (Rally), and Saturday, December 18 (Obedience). Premiums are available on the NOCI website. For more information contact Kim Young or Chris Wagner. There will be a new daytime Foundation Agility Class starting next session. Class will be held Tuesday mornings at 9 am. Tracy Kent will be instructing this class. This will be for dogs with no prior agility experience and will be from the "ground up" starting with the extreme basics. If you are interested in this class, please contact me at agilevs@frontier.com. There are only a few spots left so act quickly. Thanks, Tim Please no te! Tim Dy er s new agilevs@frontier.com 2010 Raffle! It's time to start thinking about our December trial. Raffle donation boxes will be out at the club very soon. If you have any questions or need any information regarding donations please call or see me at class. Thanks in advance! Sandy Lewandowski

She helps in rescuing Boston Terriers in Wisconsin -- and since the Boston is one of my favorite breeds I thought you might enjoy the school adventures of Jodi's Boston, Frankie. More chapters to come. Joan Nebesky #1 Frankie Goes To Skool. I yam so excited!!! I yam one of duh biggust kidz in my class and I only way 10 punds!!!!! Most of dem are vewy puny. Nun of da udder kidz laughed at my diaper, but some of the mean doggie daddies did! Today we also learned what "they say" are gud toyz and what are BAD TOYS. I dunno about dis...all DA TOYZ DEH SAIZ ARE BAD R MY FAVORITES!!! Deh say "no stuffed babies, no rawhides, no chewie ropes." Only dum rubber things and frisbees, (what da heck is dat?) and balls. Dere were a few okay stuff, yike toys that spill out treats, dat is gud, I yike dat! I talked to my mumma and she said dat I still get stuffed babies!! Yea!!!!!!!!!! The "instructor" also said dat our mummas and daddies had to "PAY ATTENSHUN!!!!!" and dat even tho dey had to "PAY ATTENSHUN" dat we didn't haf to cuz we were little. I hope it isn't to hard for my mumma? Also the udder rule is "NO TALKIN' IS ALLOWED WHEN DA INSTRUCTOR IS SPEAKING" but we doggies have to listen to dat rule too. I was gud, I didn't bark once!!! (I yam not tattling, but lotz and lotz of udder doggies did bark and bark!!!) Den we learn three lessons. Well, da udder doggies learnt three lessons, I only did two of dem. Da first lesson was dat we had to "LOOK AT OUR MUMMAS." Dis meant dat, our mummas or daddies held a treat by der eye and said "watch me" and when we looked, WE GOT A TREAT!!! Dat was easy!!!!! Da next lesson was da one I didn't do. It was to sit. Sounds simple right? I don't wanna do it, I just don't. And I am not telling anyone why. Da "instructor" said dat "maybe I don't yike to sit in my diaper?" Mayabe she woodent yike it if I pooped on her shoe!!! Anywayz now dat I didn't "sit" like everyudder kid, I now have "HOMEWORK!" Den the last lesson was dah easiest!!! It was called "let your mumma pet you all over and put her fingers in your ears and on your paws and on your tail and on your privates and scratch you all over, and you get to chew on a yummy big treat in her hand!" (Oh my mumma had to write dat part all I hear was "blah blah blah blah blah blah, blah, blah blah blah, TREAT!!!") So I guess 2 outta 3 ain't so bad? And if I get dis "homework" dun maybe I will sit, but maybe I won't so THERE! I get to skip class next week, my mumma is going on vacation, and I get a babysitter. I am not sur what dat means yet?? Well anywayz it is time fur me to go to bed, so here is a picture of me and my mumma on my first day at skool!!! I luv you everybuddy!!! Each year the plaque is updated to reflect new accomplishments. As written in the club bylaws, this is what you must do to be eligible for a plaque: 1. Submit a written record of your accomplishment on an NOCI score report form. Score reports should be placed in the Woof Box in the club office, mailed to the awards chairperson (currently Judy Gemperline) or submitted online at tinyurl.com/nociscore. Score reports MUST be submitted by December 31 of the year in which the title was earned. If you do not meet the deadline, the club will not pay for the engraving / plaque. 2. Provide one service to the club during the calendar year. Fill out the service form so we have a record. 3. Attend at least one general membership meeting during the calendar year. Be sure to sign the attendance sheet whenever you attend a meeting. Due to the increasing number and expense of these awards, the club will be adhering to these guidelines very strictly.
