The club is doing well, all of our classes are full and some have a waiting list-thank you to all the Instructors, volunteers and board for their endless hours of service to make this club what it is. A couple of weeks ago we got the sad news that Alice Terrill passed away-for those that don t know she was one of the people that started NOCI back in 1953!!! She was 99 years old. So being involved with dogs must keep all of us young!!! A couple of things to remember that are coming up: March 5 th is the Awards Banquet (remember to send in your reservation). I hope to see lot s of you there. Cheryl M. & I have some nice things planned for all. May is the Agility trial, we have moved it to Car Dun Al in Huntley. I am hoping now that it is closer to home we will have a lot of people come out and volunteer! Ken Smith is Chief Ring Steward. Cheryl Moore is Hospitality; she always has a great spread of food out for the volunteer s. We are bringing back Cynosport Rally (formly APDT Rally). This is one of the first venues to hold Rally Trials. We are going to have a one day trial in June to see what interest everyone has. Any questions you can see Yvonne Smith, Jan Sund or myself. Just a few things going on-if anyone has things they would like to see the club sponsor please see a board member. We are always looking for new ideas!! Looking forward to seeing Spring!!! Patti B. 2 General Meeting Minutes October 21,2016 (reprint) The meeting was called to order at 7:35 PM. Yvonne moved to accept the August 2016 minutes; Heide seconded. President: none. Vice President: none. Secretary: sympathy cards sent to Arlene King who lost Sophie, Shari Hoffman who lost Maverick, and will send a card to Jan Sund who lost Colby. Lifetime Membership: Pat Behles was presented. Tim moved; Judy L. seconded. All approved. Treasurer: bills are paid, and additional funds left over will be used explore ideas to improve the building. We have approx. $183,000. Discussion ensued about improving the lighting. Investigating options for purchasing new flooring/matting or repairing/deep cleaning current matts instead. The estimated cost of purchasing new mats is approx. $21,000 which does not include additional costs for removal of old mats and installation of new mats. Discussion ensued. DOT: Bev will not be continuing on in the DOT role. THANK YOU BEV for all your hard work and service! :-) DOAT: agility classes are going well. The Thursday PM Foundation is full. DON/Nose Work: we had a very successful trial. J It went very well overall. Approx $2000 profit. We are looking to hold another trial next June Several compliments received from individuals (non-members) outside our club. Classes continue to be full with a wait list. Contact Jim if you are interested. Training Hall Secretary: 217 obedience class spots have been filled. All approved. Welcome! Committee Reports: Barn Hunt trials: held on August 27 th and 28 th yielded a profit of approx. $2200. Two trials will be held in 2017: August and November. Dog-tober Fest: held on September 18 th : at Huntley Park District. Had a great time. We provided small agility demos. AKC Rally & Obedience trials: 12/16 & 12/17/16. Plenty of openings still. Having a raffle again. Nominating Committee: Barb advised that it was uncontested. That being said Barb announced the slate is as follows: President: Patti Burgess Vice President: Silvia Simmons Secretary: Amber Perri Treasurer: Jim Doescher Training Hall Secretary: Adrienne Ostrowski Board position: Barb Novak: new 2-year term. ****************************************************************************** Peggy Roesner: fulfills the remainder of her 2-year board position. Dana Vierck: fulfills the remainder of her 2-year board position. DOT and DOAT are appointed positions, and are not voted upon.

3 Tim moved to accept the slate as presented; Gary seconded; all approved. With that the meeting concluded at 7:55 pm briefly for the new board to meet. The meeting resumed at 8:05 pm with the new board present. The Contact Zone By Debbie Butt DOAT: Cheryl Moore will continue on in this role. DOT: Heide Jakiel will assume this role. New Business: Pat Behles asked about how to go about organizing a seminar? She would like to explore a seminar with Janice Gunn. Patti explained that anyone that has an idea for a seminar is welcome to present it. Please do all the legwork and research to provide details at a board meeting for review and discussion. Our May 2017 AKC agility trials have been approved to be held at Car-Dun-Al s training building in Huntley. It will be a one-ring trial held over 3 days (Fri-Sat-Sun.) Jean Munger is the judge. First received. We will add Premier JWW on Saturday and Premier STD on Sunday. This location is cost effective and close for the members. Brags: were shared. 9 Our Annual Banquet will be Sunday, March 5th in Algonquin. Cost is $20 per person and includes brunch with a carving station Our theme this year is: If you have any pictures of your dogs doing any of the sports we do at the club, please pu them in Patti s mailbox in the office (with your name on the back so they can be returned!) Pictures can be of past or present dogs! There are registration forms for the banquet on both sides of the club please return them by mail or in Patti s mailbox. Remember, you don t have to be getting a plaque to attend. It s a great time to meet new members and catch up with old friends!

AGILITY RECOGNITION OF MERIT BOARD By earning Open/Intermediate/Advanced/Level II types of titles from ONE these organizations: AKC: 3 Open or higher titles (total 9 Q s) CPE: 2 Level 3 titles (total 6 Q s) NADAC: 3 Open or higher titles (total 9 Q s) TDAA: 3 titles, any mix from Intermediate or Games II (total 9 Q s) UKC: UAGI + UAGII titles (total 6 Q s) UKI: 2 Novice titles (total 40 points) USDAA: 3 Advanced/Level II or above titles (total 9 Q s) And by meeting NOCI Member Eligibility Requirements.
