2 GENERAL Births 2015 We would like to request all our breeders to please submit your outstanding birth notifications for 2015 as well as births of any other years. All births submitted between 1 Sept 30 Nov will not be invoiced for late birth submission fees. Please note this is a once off allowance from Jersey SA, and is meant to encourage our members to get all their herd information up to date. It is important that birth notifications are done on a regular basis to ensure that the genetic analysis of Jersey SA is as correct and complete as possible. 6 De Heus Jersey Herd Competition 2015 Dr Johan Jooste All the planning was done by De Heus Animal Feed. Jersey herds from the North West and Eastern Free State participated in this competition. The Holstein herds were judged at the same time, showing the co-operation that is found amongst the diary breeds. Prizes were given within each breed. It was a strong competition with excellent Jerseys in all the herds. It was good to see both older and newer generations bulls perform and producing the winners. The production capacity and functional conformation of the cows are an indication of how well the breeding within the breed is going. It was a pleasure to judge this competition, especially with the good attitude that is present between all the participants. Excellent prizes were sponsored to the winners from the different herds. Results: 2-3 yr. Coen Steenkamp en Seuns with a David daughter Best Herds: 3-4 yr. MD Foundation with a Sultan daughter 1st Pieter Bdy 4-6 yr. Driedoring Jerseys with a Headline daughter 2nd MD Foundation >6 yr. Pieters Bdy with a Sultan daughter; also best udder winner 3rd Hernanja Jerseys 1.
