2 Introducing Miss Caitlin Panazewycz DOLPS 2017 WINNER: NT Junior Handler Under 10 Years Caitlin began her journey in the dog show world in mid 2016 attending her first ever Junior Handler workshop and shared a borrowed dog. Since that time Caitlin has competed in every Junior Handler competition held in Darwin and is loving the experience. Whilst Caitlin does not yet own a registered pedigree dog, she is taking advantage of learning 'The Craft' using the beautiful elderly gentlemen 'Ch Neut Ch Macullen Brumbie Jack' (aka BJ the Budju). A highlight for Caitlin is getting dressed up and being able to show off her dog in the ring, and she thoroughly enjoyed the 2017 workshop with Ashley Reid hosted by Darwin Ladies Kennel Club. Caitlin is forever hopeful that her mum will eventually cave in and buy her a show dog of her own, so please, if you see our Junior Handlers around at the shows give them encouragement and support to keep coming back.

4 President s Report Hi All, Firstly we had an entertaining time over the weekend with a bloke named Marcus. He came for a visit, made a mess and then thankfully cleared off. He left trees strewn all over the place. It is just as well we had a couple of Mahoganies removed otherwise we would have lost our office. A number of our members had damaged done to their properties but thankfully no loss of life. DogsNT will be holding its AGM on Wednesday 30 th May. Nominations close 28 th March, Nominations are required for Vice President, Secretary and 3 Councillors, please put in your nominations and have a go. We are now proud owners of a new irrigation system which will help keep our grounds in terrific condition. Thanks to Greener Grass NT for a wonderful effort. DLKC is holding their AGM soon so please step up and join the committee. Also they require someone to take on the role of Show Manager for 2018 or there will be no shows next season. Palmerston Gundog Club are hosting a FREE Junior Handler Clinic in July with FREE JH classes to be run at the Royal (big thanks to RNAS/Sooz for accommodating this. 6 ANKC Notices RETRIEVING & FIELD TRIAL HALL OF FAME 2018 Nominations In the first eighteen years of elections, the Australian National Kennel Council Ltd has received nominations for 51 dogs and 27 people to be considered for induction into the Retrieving & Field Trial Hall of Fame. From the nominations received 29 outstanding dogs and 19 exceptional people have been inducted. The criteria for the two categories for selection are the following: 1. Outstanding Gundogs (must be permanently retired from further competition and have not competed for the past 12 months, or be deceased) a. Their record as a winning dog i.e., CLUB STAKE DATE JUDGE PLACE and/or b. Their production record. c. The eligibility for a dog should be based on its entire competitive career and previous record as a producer, not merely for a particular win or for a heroic deed within the field and retrieving trial sphere. d. Subject to the receipt of a formal application, dogs that have been awarded the title of Grand Champion and have gained a total number of points equal to, or greater than, twice the total number required for that award, shall automatically be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Such applications must include full particulars and a brief resume of the dog's career. e. Subject to the receipt of a formal application, dogs winning at least two National Championships in the same discipline shall automatically be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Such applications must include full particulars and a brief resume of the dog's career. 2. Prominent Persons: Their record of a broad combination of accomplishments as: a. Club official b. Judge c. Owner d. Handler The distinction of nomination should be accorded to those who have made outstanding contributions to the field or retrieving game. Nominees should be givers to the sport and not takers. Nominations are now being called for the current year. In addition to applications submitted in relation to Outstanding Gundogs 1 (d) and 1(e), a maximum of two other outstanding gundogs and two prominent persons may be elected each year. Nomination: 1. Clubs or Members may nominate DOGS and PEOPLE considered worthy of awards, including full details of accomplishments within the above categories and with verification. In the case of dogs, nominations should include the full name, title, owner and date of birth. [Please note it is a condition of nomination that the nominator/s provides accurate written material supporting the nomination. In the absence of such accurate supporting material, or should the supporting material later prove to be inaccurate in areas of significance, the Selection Panel for the ANKC Ltd Retrieving & Field Trial Hall of Fame reserves the right to reconsider its decision and if appropriate, delete the name of the Prominent Person or Distinguished Dog from the list of inductees.] 2. Nominations shall close on the 31 May, 2018 at respective Member Body offices for forwarding to ANKC Ltd. 3. 7 Official Publication of Dogs NT ANKC Notices SUMMARY OF THE ANKC LTD SPECIAL BOARD MEETING HELD IN VICTORIA ON 10 TH FEBRUARY, 2018 At the February 2018 ANKC Ltd Special Board meeting, Directors resolved/considered the following: 1. Whole Body Barometric Plethysmography Chamber It was RESOLVED that ANKC purchase a BOAS chamber. Contributions received so far from Dogs SA, Dogs NSW, Dogs West and the French Bulldog Club of NSW will fund the purchase. 2. RSPCA IPO Training It was RESOLVED that ANKC forward a response to the RSPCA regarding IPO Training which would reconfirm the current ANKC Policy on Attack Training. 3. Country Inspection Process It was RESOLVED that ANKC Ltd accepts the system for Country Inspections based on an initial breed verification, thence an inspection of submitted information by Compliance Investigative Panel members. 4. Kangal Shepherd Dog The Board agreed to defer this matter until the FCI recognise the Kangal Shepherd Dog as a separate breed to the Anatolian Shepherd Dog. 5. FCI Recognised Breeds As a requirement of the agreement entered into with the FCI ANKC is bound to register and recognize all the breeds which are recognised by the FCI unless prevented to do so by national governmental or state laws. Pedigrees from any FCI member or contract partner, with a minimum of 3 complete generations registered in studbooks and/or appendixes to the stud books recognised by the FCI, are considered to be sufficient to be recognised by the ANKC. It was agreed to add the following note on the Breed Standards page of the ANKC website: Breed Standards for FCI breeds which are not in Australia can be accessed from the FCI website breed standards page at: 6. * ANKC Ltd Regulations Part 6 The Register & Registration: Amendments It was RESOLVED that Regulations Part 6 The Register & Registration is amended by the inclusion of the following new Clause 3.11 (c): c. The progeny of all British Bulldogs, French Bulldogs, Pugs and Boston Terriers conceived by the use of semen imported into Australia and registered on the Main Register, must be physically assessed. Puppies are to be assessed by 3 licenced judges for that breed to ascertain if the puppy complies with the ANKC Ltd Breed Standard especially the Coat and Colour descriptions. The assessment must be undertaken after the puppy has been microchipped and prior to registration. If their combined opinions are that the puppy does not comply with those descriptions, and there are no special conditions for Registration of Certain Breeds, then the puppy is to be registered on the Limited Register and Marked not eligible to be moved to the Main Register. If their combined opinions are that the puppy does comply with the ANKC Ltd Breed Standard then the puppies may be registered on the Main Register. Puppies assessed must be able to be individually identified by way of microchip. It was RESOLVED that Regulations Part 6 The Register & Registration is amended by the inclusion of new Section 7.6 to read as follows: 7.6 OVERSEAS TITLES No overseas titles will be endorsed on a dog s registration certificate unless the title was achieved while the dog was physically present in the country which awarded the title. * New or Amended regulations, policy statements, procedures, publications and listings will be made available from the ANKC Ltd website.
