3 President s Report Hello Everyone, This will be the last one for Our clubs have been busy over the last 12 months with Alice Springs having a very busy year with their Cluster Shows, CASS show and Tennant Creek weekend. These were followed by Show Dog Handlers double header, the Darwin Royal and the Gun Dog Show. Canine Expo rounded it off with 5 shows over 2 nights with overseas and Australian judges. Darwin Ladies Kennel Club ran an Extravaganza with 6 shows over 2 days also using overseas and Australian judges. All of the above shows were well attended by interstate exhibiters. Darwin Ladies may run another Extravaganza in DODC will have the first International Trial Judge booked for Show Dog Handlers will be holding the last show of the year on the 4th November and the next one after that is in February During the last 12 months we have been able to get grants to do improvements at the Winnellie Dog area. We have had a number of trees, which were becoming dangerous, removed. RASNT requested that we start using our own gate at the far end of the grounds. Unfortunately they were narrow and the track was rough so a grant was received and we had the gate widened to double size and asphalt was laid on the track to make it all weather. I would like to thank Caroline Camilleri, and Sarah Gordon for the effort they are putting in for grants.the grounds crew for the work on the grounds and any other work required and Sarah s father for the work done keeping the irrigation functioning and the control unit. I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and please be safe on the roads. Cheers, Mel 4

5 From the Office DOGSNT FEE INCREASES Please note that there will be increases in some of DogsNT fees from January 1st The new Fees have been included in this TDW. The website will be updated accordingly, also from January So it will pay Members to renew their Annual Membership BEFORE December 31st 2017 to avoid these increases. DOGS NT 2018 MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS A gentle reminder that your Membership with DogsNT are NOW up for renewal. 6 Official Publication of Dogs NT ANKC Notices INTERPRETATION OF OBEDIENCE RULES Reference is made to the Utility Class, Signal Exercise rule in the current ANKC Ltd Rules for the Conduct of Obedience Trials and in particular to clarification of the highlighted section noted below: Deductions Substantial: For any double signal or failure to sit, stand or down during the heel routine, prolonged signals, slow response to signals. The National Obedience & Tracking Committee has confirmed the following interpretation which shall be binding in accordance with the rules: A substantial deduction applies where a dog who fails to stand on the lead up to the final portion of the Signal Exercise in the UD Class. Election of ANKC Ltd Vice President and Treasurer Mr Brian Parker was re elected as Vice President for a one year term from 14 October 2017; and Mr David Sales was re elected unopposed as Treasurer for a one year term from 14 October Mr Darren Bowey was elected as a member of the Executive Committee for a one year term from 14 October At the October 2017 ANKC Ltd Board meeting, Directors resolved/considered the following: 1. CACIB Shows It was resolved to adopt a new set of regulations for the conduct of CACIB Shows. These regulations will be included in ANKC Ltd Regulations Part 5 under Section 6. 7 Official Publication of Dogs NT ANKC Notices SUMMARY OF THE ANKC LTD ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING & BOARD MEETING HELD IN NEW SOUTH WALES ON 14 th and 15th OCTOBER, Additional ANKC Ltd Special Board Meetings It was resolved from 2018 the ANKC Ltd Board will meet at two additional Special Board meetings to be held on the second Saturday of February and the third Saturday of June. 3. ANKC Ltd Judges Contract General and Dances with Dogs It was resolved for the expenses section of the ANKC Ltd Judges Contracts to be reworded to remove the reference to a Judging expense and replace it with Incidental Expenses. 4. * Visiting Overseas Judges Evaluation Procedure It was resolved a list of Overseas Judges who have been evaluated is to be made available from the ANKC Ltd website. It was resolved that Dogs NT will be exempt from the Visiting Overseas Judges Evaluation Procedure. It was resolved that the Visiting Overseas Judges Evaluation Procedure be amended with the evaluating judge to be an Accredited Assessor, and for the removal of Excellent from the Evaluation line as well as removing the Quality of Entry line in its entirety from the form. 5. * National Code of Ethics of Responsible Dog Ownership Amendment It was resolved for the National Code of Ethics of Responsible Dog Ownership to be amended as follows: Clause 11 amended to read: 11. A Member of ANKC Ltd State Member Body shall not register a dog with a Registry Body not recognised by ANKC Ltd. Clause 31 amended to read: 31. It is mandatory for an ANKC Ltd Member Body Membership Number to be displayed on any advertisement for dogs whatever the media and all members must include the following wording in their advertisements: Please contact Dogs [insert State/Territory] on [insert address] to verify my membership. Inclusion of new Clause 32 to read: 32. Members of an ANKC Ltd Member Body shall not register a dog with a Registry Body not recognised by ANKC Ltd 6. * Regulations Pertaining to Non Resident Draft Test Judges It was resolved to approve a set of regulations pertaining to Non Resident Draft Test Judges. 7. Subsidiary Company It was resolved that ANKC set up a subsidiary company to act as a charity to finance canine health and welfare with the ability in perpetuity for ANKC Ltd to appoint the Directors. 8
