3 Area Business Spotlight: Mill Brook Farm Mill Brook Farm is a family-owned, family-run operation, led by father-daughter duo of Harry McGovern and Meg Hamilton. Mill Brook s farmers are as honest and straightforward as the meat. They raise Registered Berkshire Pork on their fields with Vermont Grains Non-GMO feed. The Black Angus beef are raised exclusively from their own fields as well. Mill Brook Farm happily supply local farm-to-table restaurants, a local shop, and the home chef with their products. All the animals are raised as kindly and honestly as possible. Harry and Becky McGovern, who are originally from Littleton MA, have been at Mill Brook Farm since 1995 and their adult daughters, Meghan and Sara, also call Landaff home with their own young families. Meghan runs her own photography business and also helps run the farm, while Sara is employed at Garnet Hill. When asked what made them decide to open and operate their business, they explained that when they first purchased the farm it had been sitting idle, after years of being a dairy farm from as far back as the 1850 s. To bring the farm back to life they began boarding horses which evolved into raising beef, and recently they added the Berkshire Pork herd, only after researching the perfect breed to compliment the Black Angus Beef already in residence. The choice to go with the Berkshire breed was due to the superior flavor and marbling of their meats. Because Landaff is still an agricultural community the family takes pride in helping to maintain that heritage of the Landaff community. They also enjoy having their young children learn and work at the farm; helping with barn chores, piglets and hay season. To be competitive and stay one step above their competition, Mill Brook Farm offer s meat for sale at the farm, they also offer individual cuts, custom variety packages, as well as half pork and quarter beef sides cut to your specifications. Their meats are 100% pure Registered Berkshire Pork and Black Angus Beef. Their Registered Berkshire Pork are raised on a diet of non-gmo feed from Green Mountain feeds and the grasses of Mill Brook fields on the banks of Mill Brook. Their Black Angus Beef are raised exclusively on their own Mill Brook Farm fields. The purity of this approach translates to the purity on your plate. As for future plans on Mill Brook Farm, they recently invested in a walk-in freezer to make local pick up more accessible. Eventually, they will also be offering local honey, maple syrup, and other products at their farm stand. They are always running package deals which are listed on their website: They are currently working on their Spring Specials and will them ASAP: they will also be listed on the website.

8 Area Business Spotlight: Wild Oaks Farm Originally from Littleton, Hillary Tuite has settled in Landaff, NH. Most of her family still resides in NH, except her brother Tristan in Florida. Ever since she could remember she wanted to work in the family business, Tuite Associates. She started painting for the Tuite Painting Company for six years, but for the last 18 years, she can be found managing the family store, the Paint Gallery in Littleton. Her love of animals, farming, and being creative was still a large part of her life and grew into a Goat Milk Soap and Skincare product business called Wild Oaks Farm, where her business has grown and allows her to raise a herd of Oberhasli goats. She chose Landaff for her farming/skincare business not only for its quaintness, but also for its sense of community. Hillary prides herself on her maintenance of her Oberhasli goat herd species, which not too long ago were actually on the endangered species list. She tests free yearly for CAE, CL and Johne s, allowing her to sell her goats with confidence that she is helping to improve the breed with a responsible breeding program. Ms. Tuite s soap product business only uses the best ingredients. The raw materials are organic when the cost allows and all the products are free of phthalates. She takes pride in being able to list goat milk as the first ingredient on the soap labels. ¼ of every bar is pure goat milk, which means you are getting the most goat milk possible. Goat milk soap has many benefits from being rich in lactic acid which helps to remove dead skin cells to being plentiful with vitamins and minerals which aids in repairing and nourishing skin. Currently, Wild Oaks Farm offers Goat Milk Soaps in over 50 scents, hand salves and lip balms. For the future, Hillary plans on keeping with her tradition of producing handmade products in small batches all the while keeping her mind open to new product lines. She will also be adding a website in 2018, so look for that! As spring comes so doesn t Kidding season at Wild Oaks Farm! Currently, there are 12 kids expected this year and the farm is taking deposits to hold 2018 stock for when they are ready to be weaned at 8 weeks of age. If you are interested in one of the Oberhasli kids for 2018 contact the farm at wildoaksfarmnh@gmail.com You can get soaps, at White Mountains Canning in Littleton, The Root Cellar in Lancaster, or drop by the farm. Look for her at local craft fairs as well.
