1 Lioness District 27 A-1 Serving Together With Kindness" November 2018 issue From District President Lisa Hello to all of you Lovely Lioness, It's been a very busy month of October! But I love to stay busy. And I love to stay busy visiting the clubs in our district and getting out in our communities. Sadly, we said goodbye to one of the sweetest ladies you'll ever meet, and a dedicated Lioness. Ls. Joyce Atkinson lost her fearless battle with cancer on Oct. 12, Ls. Joyce currently served as our District Secretary. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. A huge THANK YOU to Ls. Kathy Reed of Williams Bay for stepping into the role. Those are some big shoes to fill, but Ls. Kathy can do it. And heaven gained another angel who will definitely brighten the skies. New Berlin Lioness Anita Bushner passed away on Oct. 28. Her Celebration of Life service will be Sunday, November 4th at Krause Funeral Home in New Berlin. Visitation is from 2-6 p.m. and the New Berlin Lioness will be doing the Lioness Service at 5:30 p.m. Anita's planned party "Celebration of Life" to follow the service at Klemmer's on 103rd and Oklahoma where she wanted everyone to "party" in her honor. I visited Waukesha Noon Lioness this month and installed one new member. I also really enjoyed watching their "parade of checks" donations to their community organizations. Good work Waukesha Noon! It was wonderful to see many of you at our annual fall dinner. The committee did a fabulous job with the meal, decorations, raffles and the presentation by Ls. Kathy Sullivan was very interesting! I have an envelope for clubs that were not represented. Greater Kenosha, Union Grove and Wales Genesee Lioness, contact me and I'll deliver. By now you should have gotten the notice of a general meeting on Monday, November 5 at Citizens Bank on Moorland Rd. in New Berlin. Meeting starts at 7. There are some important issues on the agenda regarding the future of Lioness and also District Convention. I would like to see at least 2 representatives from each club attend. NOVEMBER 13 is WORLD KINDNESS DAY!!!! I've offered a little Kindness Challenge of my own (see attached flyer). I would love to see your photos of post-it notes everywhere!! Remember this -
2 The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention. ~Oscar Wilde. Watch for more upcoming projects that you can get involved in. Here's one: It's time to ring those bells for the red kettles, Salvation Army. There are many shifts and locations available. It takes just a few hours. Wouldn't it be fun to get together with a few of your Lioness and sing some carols and greet people with your cheery holiday smile?!! Sign up here: P&A reports: I'm not getting reports from all clubs. And some have asked exactly where to send them. So here's the list: Ls. Lisa Leonard, ADP lisann0404@yahoo.com Ls. Kathy Reed, Affiliate District Secretary karreed0862@att.lnet Ls. Larry Redlin, District Liaison larry.redlin@cgschmidt.com Lion Sharon Eberhardt, DG sjhardt@gmail.com Your Area Chairperson Your Club File November is a time (any time is a good time) to remember those less fortunate, those who don't have basic necessities or enough food in the pantry. Many clubs do baskets of food or donations of food around Thanksgiving. Please realize how thankful a family is to receive your donation or gift. It's the time of year, also, when money gets tight. Any little bit you can do helps! Serving Together With Kindness Ls. Lisa, ADP

I have included Larry Redlin A2 comments he had shared with me at the end of the Advisory Committee Minutes regarding the Join together and the future of Lioness. (This is refreshing since I have heard a different statement from other Lion members who interpret the Join Together Program) Special thanks to go to PADP/Lion Greg Clark for taking on this program to enlighten our Lioness Clubs if they choose to become Lioness/Lions Club. Otherwise we can continue to be a Lioness Club if we have the sponsorship from our Lions club. I have updated the Policy Manual as per the Past Presidents meeting, and as per the approval of the Advisory Committee. Annette Goeman State Affiliate Secretary Affiliate District 27-A1
5 Fellow Lioness: District 27-A1 is starting to ramp up their efforts with the Join Together program by offering additional incentives to Lioness who join Lions clubs. We would like to clarify the information that is being spread by being proactive in the steps we take to preserve our future and that of our fellow Lioness in serving our communities and others. We would like to start by holding a general meeting with our Lioness peers to accomplish this goal. We would like to have a representative from each club come to the meeting because we all have a vested interest and say in our future. Please join us on: The agenda is a follows: Monday November 5, 2018 Citizens Bank 5450 S. Moorland Rd. Lioness Shari Knight, Newsletter Editor Prayers For Our deepest sympathy to the families and friends of Lioness Anita Bushner of the New Berlin Lioness Club and Lioness Joyce Atkinson of the Delavan Lioness Club.. New Berlin Lioness This message comes to you with great deep sorrow; Ls. Frenchi notified Ls. Chris Meyer that our sweet Anita Bushner has left us from this life around 6:45pm tonight, October 28th. She died peacefully at her home as she wished. As of right now we don t have any details about her funeral but once Ls. Chris or myself know we will pass it on to everyone. They are waiting for her nephew David to arrive from Colorado to make the arrangements and he will notify Ls. Frenchi to inform us of the details. With thoughts and prayers to all of her friends, family and everyone who knew her, rest in peace Anita. Lioness President Kim Papp

8 Delavan Lioness The Delavan Lioness are saddened at the passing of our Treasurer and friend, ADS Joyce Atkinson. Lioness Joyce worked tirelessly on behalf of our club, and we will miss her tremendously. Joyce passed away on October 12, and her funeral was October 17. Our club voted to change our meeting days to the fourth Tuesday of the month, instead of the fourth Monday, because so many restaurants are closed on Monday. We will do this for this Lioness year. So, for any of you who plan to attend our meetings, put us down for Tuesday. The Delavan Lioness is having our annual Pajama-Rama. I am attaching the poster. I hope you can use it in the November Newsletter. PAJAMA-RAMA The Delavan Lioness Club is sponsoring their annual Pajama-Rama on Saturday, November 17, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at Old National Bank, 500 E. Walworth Ave. in Delavan. New pajamas for children of all ages are being collected. Pajamas will go to New Beginnings APFV, (formerly Association for Prevention of Family Violence), Twin Oaks Shelter, Pregnancy Helpline and The Tree House. Pajamas can be dropped off starting October 15 th through November 16 th at the following locations in Delavan: Aram Public Library, Blackhawk Community Credit Union, Bradley s Department Store, Hair Expressions on Ann Street, Old National Bank, Piggly Wiggly, Renew Chiropractic, and Town Bank. For more information call Terri at

Palmyra Lioness The Palmyra Lioness helped at the Old Settler s Picnic at the Village Park in July. In August, ADP Lisa Leonard attended our meeting and installed our new officers. Once again Lioness Storm Jernigan went on another school supply shopping spree and purchased about $700 worth of supplies again donated to Palmyra Elementary. Palmyra Lions Club donated around $200 to the cause and supplies delivered by Ls. Storm and Lion Dave Jernigan. We again decorated a light pole in downtown Palmyra for the Halloween Parade and handed out candy during Trick or Treat. Palmyra Lioness also hosted the Northwest Area meeting on October 23 rd. We will be collecting food pantry items at our November meeting for the Palmyra Food Pantry.
10 We are once again busy making plans for our upcoming Lighted Village Christmas Parade on Dec. 1 st and getting ready for our 7 th Annual Holiday Craft Fair on December 8 th. Pole Decorating President-Ls. Heidi Deuster, Vice-President-Ls. Dawn Ridgewell, ADP-Lisa Leonard, Secretary-Ls. Sharon Mack, Treasurer-Ls. Storm Jernigan Williams Bay Lioness Already this fall two of our members who are certified in vision screening assisted the Williams Bay Elementary School with screening last week and three members attended the Eye Bank Dinner. We purchased fluorescent rain coats for the elementary school crossing guards so they can be more visible while protecting our children in nasty weather. Holiday Home Camp OWLS (Outdoor Wisconsin Leadership Program) is having a November fund raiser and we will match donations up to $300. As part of the Williams Bay Boo in the Bay Festival we held our second annual fall craft fair on Saturday with a good turnout. Over 40 vendors reported good results and attendees seemed to enjoy the event. Lakeland Animal Shelter brought some puppies and they were a big hit! We are looking forward to next year!
