The position is either tenure or clinician educator track with professorial rank and salary commensurate with the successful candidate s qualifications and experience. Candidates must have a degree in veterinary medicine and be either eligible for certification or a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners Avian Practice or the American College of Zoological Medicine, or have equivalent specialist qualifi- cations. The successful candidate will join the Special Species Medicine Service start with a start date of November 1, 2005 or as negotiated. Faculty responsibilities include teaching veterinary students and residents in an ABVP approved program, clinical service at the Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and creative scholarly activity in the individual's areas of interest. Candidates should have solid clinical experience and expertise in exotic animal medicine and surgery. Excellent collaborative opportunities are available with the School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania located in close proximity to the veterinary school. (4/2006) Exotic animal, wildlife, and zoological medicine: The University of Georgia invites applications for a tenuretrack faculty position within the exotic animal, wildlife, and zoological medicine service of the Department of Small Animal Medicine & Surgery. The major responsibilities for this position are to teach and provide service in the Small Animal Teaching Hospital, local aviaries and other zoological collections. The case load is composed of birds (45%), mammals (35%), reptiles (15%), fish/amphibians/inverts (5%), and can be broadly divided into client-owned pets (80%) and zoo/wildlife cases (20%). Faculty co-teach didactic courses in reptile, avian, small mammal, aquatic, zoo and wildlife medicine; are involved in clinical or laboratory research and provide continuing education for veterinarians. A DVM or VMD degree and board certification (or eligibility) in the American College of Zoological Medicine or American Board of Veterinary Practice (Avian) is required. A postgraduate degree is desirable but not essential.
