They must apply through the state board. This is because they determine the eligibility of the person. - Licensing is the same in California. You need to be approved by the state board as in other states. - Additional training includes certifications and classes to do with science. Courses in high school include trigonometry, biology, calculus, statistics. It's important to take the highest level courses that your school offers. - Certifications aren't required, however they necessary to work with a variety of animals. These animals include dogs, cats, rodents, horses, amphibians, pigs, and cows. This certification is called the ABVP or American Board of Veterinary Employment Statistics The starting salary for a veterinarian is around 65,000 dollars per year, this can vary depending on the state you live in. The average salary for a veterinarian is 98,000 dollars, as of There are approximately 105,000 people in the United States who are employed as a veterinarian. In California alone there are more than 6,000 vets, which is the most out of any state in the whole country. Second behind California is New York. 58% of veterinarians are female, and 42% are male. Enrollment in veterinary schools is much higher as there are 80% women. Surprising Facts: -The veterinary profession is overwhelmingly studied by woman(80%). -Getting into vet. School is very competitive due to the small amount of schools there are. -20% of vets. Work in research labs. (Kianoosh s Opinion)I would personally love to be a veterinarian because, I love animals and would not mind working with them for the rest of my life. -If someone would like to learn more about this profession they could research Important information about vets or they could go to -Pros of being a vet: 1.You get to work with animals everyday. 2.You are not limited to one specific kind of animal. 3. You can work in a Zoo!!!!! -Cons of being a vet: 1.Animals can bite. 2.You have to see animals in pain. 3. Vet. school is very hard to get into. 4.Snakes are scary.
4 Practice. - Someone who wants to be a vet must show the tests they have taken, as well as the species they often work with. - Most of the certifications for vets are orientated towards specific group types - There's the American College of Poultry Veterinarians, the American College of Animal Medicine, and the American college of Zoological Medicine. - There's other certifications for the type of medicine. There's The American College of Veterinary surgeons, Dental, Behaviorists, and etc. - There is many organizations that could represent this profession since there are many different topics in this career. There is the AMVA the AAFP as well as many more.
