2 Animas can be great companions and bring you ots of enjoyment but you must be sure that you can provide a the care and attention pets require before getting one. You must aso get our permission. The information in this eafet expains the things you shoud consider and the animas we wi and won t give permission for.

3 THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE GETTING A PET You shoud think carefuy before you get a pet and consider whether your circumstances and home are suitabe for the pet that you want. Your property must be big enough and you may aso need a secure garden to aow your pet to ive safey and happiy. Pets can be expensive and you must make sure you are abe to pay for their care. You wi need to consider: Vet bis neutering, annua vaccinations and boosters; Micro-chipping you are egay required to microchip your dog; Insurance; Food; Kenne or cattery fees. You must aso consider any other pets you have before getting more. It may become overcrowded and noisy, causing a nuisance to your neighbours. YOU ARE ABLE TO KEEP We wi grant permission for most animas but you must check with us first to ensure you are aowed to keep it. Pets you are aowed to keep incude: Dogs; Domestic cats; Sma caged animas such as hamsters, gerbis, mice, rabbits, chinchias; Fish; Caged birds such as budgies, canaries, cockatie, cockatoos, and finches; Assistance dogs.

4 YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO KEEP We wi not give permission for certain types of animas such as: Japanese Tosa; Dogo Argentina; Pit Bu Terrier; Fia Braziiero; Endangered species; Farm animas such as sheep, goat, pigs, catte or horses; Any anima isted under the Dangerous Wid Animas Act The Dangerous Dog Act 1991 bans the ownership, breeding, sae and exchange of the breeds of dogs isted above. APPLYING TO KEEP A PET To get our permission to keep a pet you must compete the appication form. This can be on our website or by requesting a copy from the customer service team. We wi assess your appication against the criteria in our pet poicy which can be found on our website chp.org.uk and write to you to et you know our decision. If you woud ike another pet in the future you wi need to compete a new appication form. NUISANCE CAUSED BY You must ensure your pets do not cause a nuisance and are kept under contro inside and outside of your property. We take a compaints of anima nuisance seriousy. If you do not tacke probems invoving pets we wi ask you to remove it from the property. Nuisance caused by pets incude: Excessive noise; Aggressive behaviour; Damage to any part of the property; Fouing in communa areas such as gardens, stairways, corridors or baconies; Owners faiing to keep dogs on eads.

5 ANIMAL CRUELTY Most peope ook after their animas but some are treated cruey. We take this very seriousy and wi report any suspected anima cruety to the poice and RSPCA immediatey. If we beieve a property has been abandoned with an anima eft behind, we wi inform the RSPCA who may take action against the previous residents.
