3 Dog Training Classes Community Center, 300 N. New Ballas Road Class size is limited to six dogs. To register call Katie at (314) or Linda at (314) Classes are 45 minutes and generally occur between 9:00-11:30A. Fall Session: Saturday mornings, September 14-October 19 Orientation Orientation is required for all classes (people only). Orientation is held in Meeting Room 1 on Saturday, September 7. Family Dog Manners 1, for dogs 4 months and older This class uses fun methods to provide basic training for the family dog, including skills such as sit, down, stay, come, wait, drop it and loose leash walking. The class will address common problems such as house training, jumping and self-control. This class is the first step in helping prepare dogs to later pass the Canine Good Citizenship (CGC) test. $150/resident dog; $160/non-resident dog Family Dog Manners 2, for dogs who have completed level 1 or have been approved by one of the trainers This class helps family dogs refine and improve their manners. Learn how to phase out using food as a reward, develop a solid recall, teach your dog to relax on a mat and work on loose leash walking. This class works on the advanced skills needed to pass the CGC test. $150/resident dog; $160/non-resident dog Fun Scent Games by DogNostics, for dogs 4 months and older Harness your dog s natural scenting ability for fun. This group class uses games to teach dogs to locate hidden objects using only their noses and then tell their handlers they ve found the prize. Scent games are a great bonding experience for dogs and their handlers and are a great form of mental exercise and rainy day games. No training experience necessary. $140/resident dog; $150/non-resident dog Golf Course Olde Cabin Road (314) Junior Golf Camps Campers learn golf fundamentals as well as etiquette and rules of the game. Campers must have their own clubs (iron, wedge and putter). Camp curriculum includes: chipping and putting on day 1, driving and approach on day 2, three holes of play with lunch on day 3. Class is taught by veteran camp instructor Eric Saxton. The game is played with a regulation #5 soccer ball with 21-inch diameter cups on an American FootGolf League certified course. The course will be available for open play on the last Saturday of every month April through September from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Birthday packages and special event options are available. 4 VISIT CREVE COEUR S Millennium Park 2 Barnes West Drive Millennium is one of Creve Coeur s largest parks sitting on 25 acres. Park amenities include two playgrounds, seasonal splash pad, a pavilion that seats 100, barbecue grill, 0.6-mile paved walking trail, restrooms, soccer field, a softball/baseball field and the historic Tappmeyer House. Lake School Park 581 Coeur de Ville Road Lake School Park sits on six acres and features a playground, historic Lake School, restrooms, soccer field and three lighted tennis courts. Millennium Park is located just south of Olive Boulevard at the end of Barnes West Drive. This park also features a wildflower garden, a dog park and the historic Clester and Hackmann log cabins. 4

5 The City of Creve Coeur has six parks to offer the community. We encourage residents and non-residents alike to check out the wonderful parks our city has to offer. LaVerne Collins Park Old Olive Street Road The peaceful one-and-a-half acre park is named in the honor of retired City Clerk, LaVerne Collins. With a gazebo and flagpole monument, this park is a great place to relax with a book or enjoy lunch. LAVERNE COLLINS Olive Blvd Country View Dr Spoede Rd NN EX OLF) Mosley Rd Old Cabin Rd BEIRNE Beirne Park Country View Drive Beirne Park is one of Creve Coeur's busiest parks. Spanning seven and a half acres, the park features a half-mile paved trail, three tennis courts, a soccer field, two playgrounds, a picnic pavilion, barbecue grills and restrooms. St. Paul Dr Elzey St Malcolm Terrace Park St. Paul Street This park features 25 wooded acres with a mile and a half of nature trails. The park also features a playground, a small picnic pavilion, sand volleyball court and restrooms. You can also relax in Serenity Grove, a densely planted area with a rock creek and plenty of shaded seating. 5

6 Summer Camps (314) American Girl Camp Tappmeyer House in Millennium Park, 2 Barnes West Drive We will explore the vintage time periods of Addy, Rebecca, Samantha, Kit and Molly through plays, cooking, craft projects, games, reading and writing. We will cap the week off with an American Girl Tea Party for you and your doll. Doll is not required to enjoy the fun! Don t delay, sign up today! STEM + Minecraft Lego Camp Build projects inspired by cool machines such as trains, helicopters, beam bridges and treehouses. Then build a Portal to the Nether, Creepers, and Minecarts from the Minecraft universe! Engineer and craft innovative solutions in this new full-day engineering camp! Ages 5-8, June 3-7, 9:00A-4:00P $245/camper STEM + Jedi Lego Camp Gear up for a full-day LEGO camp packed with hands-on and minds-on STEM fun! In this challenge based program, build projects inspired by cool machines close to home such as forklifts, houseboats, and a mini-golf course. Then build X-Wings, Pod Racers, & AT-AT Walkers from a galaxy far, far away! Ages 5-8, June 10-14, 9:00A-4:00P $245/camper Learn to Skate Group Lessons The Creve Coeur Figure Skating Academy is a Learn to Skate program using U.S. Figure Skating curriculum. Whether you want to learn to skate or improve your skills, our 30 minutes-per-week lessons are designed with you in mind. The Creve Coeur Skating Academy offers a chance to cool down this summer while learning the fundamentals of skating! Classes are limited and fill quickly. 7 Aquaport 2344 McKelvey Road (314) Open Daily 11:00A-7:00P Creve Coeur residents can get resident rates at Aquaport in Maryland Heights by presenting a current Creve Coeur ID card at the Admissions Gate (ID card obtained at the Dielmann Recreation Complex). Each person ages 4 and older must have a current Creve Coeur ID. Creve Coeur residents also receive resident rates on Aquaport season passes. Season passes must be purchased at the Maryland Heights Community Center located at 2300 McKelvey Road. Children (Ages 4-15); Adults (Ages 16-61); Senior (Ages 62+) Daily Pass: Resident: $4/child; $5/adult; $4/senior Non-Resident: $10/child; $15/adult; $10/senior (All guests receive 50% off after 5:00P.) Historic Tappmeyer House Millennium Park, 2 Barnes West Drive (314) Summer Exhibitions Tappmeyer Homestead will be open for visitors during several community events planned at Millennium Park this summer, including the Arbor Day Celebration and the Heart to Heart Run. The house is also open for the hour before the summer concerts on June 13 and July 11. Mommy and Me Mother s Day Tea Celebrate Mother s Day with a tea party at historic Tappmeyer House in Millennium Park. Dress up! Enjoy treats, decorate cupcakes and make a gift for mom. Saturday, June 15, 10:00A-4:00P Summer Sundays at the Historic Tappmeyer House FREE! Relax and tour the 1880s authentic farm homestead while visiting with speakers on a variety of topics about our area and the state. Details will be posted on the City s website and Facebook page. 8 Adult/Senior Programs (314) Chair Yoga This is a gentle, beginner s yoga class that is practiced while sitting in a chair or standing and using a chair for support. This class is intended for those who prefer not to sit on the floor or who have mobility issues. The poses used in class are designed to help improve balance, strength, flexibility and range of motion. Session I: Mondays, April 22-May 27, 10:00-10:50A Session II: Mondays, June 24-Aug. 5 (No class July 8), 10:00-10:50A $30/resident; $46/non-resident Dielmann Recreation Complex, Olde Cabin Rd. Tai Chi Dubbed the longevity exercise, Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese martial art that practices meditation in motion. This exercise is a non-competitive, low impact, self-paced and gentle physical exercise combined with stretching of the muscles to prevent injury. Tai Chi also improves balance, strength and endurance; reduces stress, anxiety and depression; eliminates the fear of falling; improves aerobic capacity; enhances quality of sleep; and improves self-confidence and overall well-being. Classes will be held at the Dielmann Recreation Complex.
