3 PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE by Devota Swenson President, Lone Star Belgian Tervuren Club This year there was a beautiful entry of Tervuren in the 2018 AKC Championships and the warmups to them in Orlando Fl. Alo, Saga and I traveled to them to compete in conformation and dock diving. The convention center is enormous and the most beautiful dogs in the country were there. We met some new Belgian friends and saw a lot of familiar faces. The new AKC TV was in action filming around the convention center, Conformation, Obedience, Agility and Dock Diving, Meet the Breeds and some special performance shows. Look for it all on the AKC Television channel on your internet television or on line at the AKC website. Lynn Weatherell took her dog into the best in show ring for the Championship. The supported entry show in July is coming along nicely. I must give a big Thank You to Tiffany Holley who took the lead on this when I asked for help. We had a couple of phone and internet meetings with the board to get her approvals, thank you everyone that participated. She has gotten the judges picked, the trophies sponsored and the paperwork in. I could not do it as the class I took last semester was taking 8-12 hours a week in homework. I am happy to say the grades posted and I got a B; I earned this one. I am looking forward to the Glen Rose shows to start the 2019 season off and the Austin, TX shows shortly after. The Belgian Tervuren National will be held in Florida horse country this year in April and although I didn t visit the site, we drove through the area and it is beautiful. Page 3

4 Start 10:40 MINUTES Lone Star Belgian Tervuren Club Meeting October 21, 2018 Belton TX Reported by Devota Swenson Attended: Devota Swenson, Tiffany Holly, Toby Holley, Glenda Fick, Deb and Dennis Lyons. Guest: Georgia Zydes Deb Lyons: motion to accept minutes from the last meeting. Tiffany seconded all in favor. Treasurer's report: read and passed around. Supported Entry at July Dallas shows Looking for ideas for trophies; check with Karyn Cowdrey and with Cynthia Parker. The idea of crate fans was brought up. Devota asked for help getting the paperwork in for the show due to deadlines. Tiffany Holley agreed to take this task on. Rescue: Sage came into ABTC rescue September 11 th, 2018 from South West of San Antonio. She is a 3- year-old bitch that was spayed last week. She was with a San Antonio rescue for 9 months prior and is now with Devota. She will be available for rehoming, contact ABTC Rescue. (She came to visit after the meeting.) An notification was sent out about a 5 year-old bitch that is an owner turn in. She is spayed but might be blind, is listed as diabetic and has had a seizure. She is looking for a long-term foster. The owner could not afford to keep up with the cost of medications. She was currently at a Vet s office. A Terv owner was going on Monday to look at her and get more information for rescue. 5 SADI'S ADVENTURES AT DALLAS SHOWS by Deb Lyons We were very happy with Saturday's Winners Bitch for the 3 point major. Special Thank You to Judge - Mr David Bolus & Handler - Rebecca Gear Needless to say we were over the moon happy with the Best of Breed Sunday for the 5 point major. A Very Special Thank You to Judge Dr H Scott Kellogg & Handler - C.C. Thank You to all that entered!! The fun of dog shows wouldn't happen without those of us who enjoy the sport of conformation dog showing. Looking forward to the Bitches and Brags dinner, and a Special Thank You to Jeff & Cynthia for agreeing to host again!! Also a Thank You to Susah Hervey for doing a great job on LTBTC newsletter. I think LSBTC has some Awesome members that love their Belgian Tervuren so much that we have a Great Club! 6 JULY 2019 SUPPORTED SHOW REPORT by Tiffany Holley Merry Christmas everyone. I hope you are all having a fantastic Holiday Season and are preparing for a festive Christmas. At the October LSBTC meeting in Belton, Devota asked me to chair a supported entry at the Trinity Valley Kennel Club Show on Sunday July 7, The judges for the All-Breed shows during the event are as follows: Friday 7/5/19 - Kenneth Rayner Saturday 7/6/19 - Allen Odom Sunday 7/7/19 - Terill Udenberg We have decided to support the entry with both trophies and sweepstakes. We will be offering both Veteran and Puppy Sweepstakes. Veteran Sweeps will consist of Veteran 8yrs and over and Puppy Sweeps will consist of the following classes 6 mths & under 9 mths; 9 mths & under 12 mths; 12 mths & under 15 mths; and 15 mths & under 18 mths. Lindsay Jackson of Nobility Belgians has graciously accepted the invitation to judge Sweepstakes and has asked me to extend her sincere gratitude to the membership for offering her this opportunity. I have submitted the paperwork and it has been approved by the ABTC and it has been forwarded on to the AKC. I should be receiving the approval letter from them anytime now. I expect this to be delayed a little bit due to the Holidays. Rest assured I submitted it early in an attempt to avoid any timeline issues. I am also very excited to announce that all trophies, both for the All-Breed and Sweepstakes have been sponsored. THANK YOU to the wonderful individuals that were so generous with their donations. This is my first show chair experience and I would like to thank the Board of Directors, Trophy Chair - Deb Lyons, Cynthia Parker, and the general membership of the LSBTC for allowing me this opportunity. This is learning experience for sure, however I am having an absolute blast. Please mark your calendars and I hope to see you all in Dallas in July! If you would like to brag about an accomplishment for anything else, animal or human, the $10 rule would apply. The money goes to Belgian Tervuren Rescue, Inc. If you cannot make the dinner but would like your brag or "bitch" announced, send your announcement and a check, made out to "Belgian Tervuren Rescue, Inc." to Jeff Curran or Cynthia Parker at the address above.
