2 August 2017 Page 2 MEMBERSHIP MEETING MINUTES- July 6, 2017 Meeting was called to order Secretaries Report: Membership present approved the June membership minutes as published in the newsletter. June board meeting minutes were read. Received mail was read. Treasurers Report: Marie gave the financial report for June. Presidents Report: Don thanked the trainers and helpers for the great job they do for the club. Don also thanked everyone that comes and helps at the club it is all appreciated. The back door is now fixed! Also if using the yard please pick up after your dog!! Help is needed for the flower bed in the front!! Let me know if you can help. Membership: Prospective members introduced themselves and were welcomed by membership present. Paul also reminded everyone that we will be having a 50/50 raffle with the drawing shortly after the meeting is over. Librarian: Ruth Holman introduced herself as our new librarian and mentioned we have many nice books, tapes etc. in the library that can be checked out. See her after the meeting if interested. Agility Trials: Nancy Zolkowski said that we have an agility trial coming up on August 12 & 13 and it will be held at the Oshkosh Kennel Club. Please talk with her if interested in helping. This is a fun and wonderful way to learn about this sport. Fun Match: Louise Torkelson said that coming up on October 7 we will be having our fun match and also our raffle. If you have any items you would like to add please bring them out to the club and put in office marked for raffle and either Margie Holman or I will get them picked up. The match is held the weekend before our obedience/rally trials so come on out and get some practice. Obedience/rally trials: Carol Mason said that coming up on October 14 & 15 is the clubs obedience/rally trials. Help will be needed both days in many different areas. You can learn more about obedience and rally, have fun and help the club doing it. Hospitality (club meetings): Susan Hayes reminded members that an easy way for members to earn hours is to bring snacks to our membership meetings. Two hours earned for bringing in a snack, but be sure and say something to Susan so your hours are counted. Rally run-throughs: Jackie Kobierecki mentioned that we have rally run-throughs every Thursday morning starting at 9 AM. Come on out and join us. Therapy Dog Class: Amy Schneider mentioned that this class will be starting again soon. So get yourself signedup if interested. Going for therapy visits can be very rewarding for both you and your dog. Open Floor Obedience: Peggy Stevens told members that on Thursday evenings except when we have a membership meeting there is open floor obedience here at the club at 7 pm. The class generally last about an hour. Parades: Penney Garbe reminded us that we have another parade coming up soon and that is the Neenah- Menasha Labor Day Parade on Monday September 4 th. Come join us and earn 3 hours. Must be an approved member to walk in the parade with your dog but you may walk without a dog also. Information for the parade will be on our website. The last parade of the year is the Christmas Parade in Appleton in November. Old Business: None
3 August 2017 Page 3 July Minutes Continued: New Business: Question was raised from the floor on why our club s winter show does not offer National Owner Handled Series. I as show chair said that our show site is just not big enough to handle the extra ring necessary for this series. With the show being held in January everyone needs space inside and there is only so much to work with. This year our groups started at 4pm and you figure two hours for groups, I personally didn t leave the show grounds until going on 8 pm and was back at 10 pm to talk with the security guard and give him the keys necessary to lock up the building and unlock it the next morning. We would need a larger building to offer many of the extra attractions associated to AKC events that they would like to see the different clubs offer. Cry and brag was conducted Motion made and approved to adjourn Respectfully submitted Gail VanDenLangenberg Secretary Membership First Meeting Roz Birch, Nick Shulfer (H) 2541 Marathon Ave Neenah, WI Australian Shepherd rozbirch@hotmail.com Carol Coonce (I) W8251 Celebration Dr. Hortonville, WI Drathaar, St. Poodle ccoonce@aol.com Marissa Hamby (I) 3312 S. It s a fun way to share your knowledge with students and help them train their dogs to its full potential. A private training session will be held. We are also in need of assistants to help with the training equipment during classes: this is keeping track of payments, receipts, and fittings of collars, etc. during classes. Vacuuming after Obedience classes is also needed. This takes about minutes each day. Hours are flexible. If interested in helping, contact Deb Zierler at , harvestimekennel@gmail.com CLEANING Most Friday s beginning at 8:00 a.m. Help is needed to clean the building. The Member Volunteer Hours Log has been updated. The revised form can be found on the website in the Forms section. Hard copies will also be available in the club office. In addition to dropping off completed forms in the club office or mailing them to the Hours Recorder, forms can now be scanned and ed to WDCHours@gmail.com. Beginning on July 31, members will be able to check their hours completed to date status on the website. Updates will be posted twice a month (as close to the 15th and last day of the month as possible). The deadline for submitting completed forms is still December 31, but it would be very much appreciated if you submit logs as you accrue hours. This will enable us to make sure your hours are recorded accurately while there is still time to make changes. If you have any questions or comments, please contact Jane Nilles at WDCHours@gmail.com.
