I hope we are all celebrating some very happy holidays. I want to send out a big thank you to all of our volunteers that we have had over this past year. The club would be nothing without you all. I was very happy with the turnout that we had at the Christmas party and want to extend my thanks for all of you that helped organize and those of you who brought food. As a reminder, the locks are changed at the club! Don't forget to pick up your new key from Lynn. She will have them at the next business meeting. Our next meeting will be January 8th, and we will be holding our annual elections. Come out and voice your vote. We are still in need of a Corresponding Secretary. 2 A Note from the Outreach Coordinator Ronda Bermke December is always a busy time for the PKC Outreach program visiting the college students prior to or during their final exams and before heading home for the holiday break. Thanks to ALL the club members who gave of their time during this busy season, slowing down a bit to visit with the students. The smiles and laughter say it all! 3 Upcoming Outreach Programs January 22, 23 & 24 from 11:15 a.m. -12:15 p.m.; This will be a socialization time with the students at De Pere High School during their finals week. Anyone interested in visiting with the high school students during their finals week MUST let Ronda know by Thursday January 17 th. Wednesday, January 30 from a.m. This will be a demo and socialization with the residents of an assisted living facility in De Pere. PKC Outreach Super Stars Barb Basche & Duncan I brought my Scottie Duncan home as a 9 week old pup in September, By October, 2014 I had enrolled him in Puppy Socialization class at Packerland. The rest is history and I became a member in Duncan and I participate in Obedience training with Packerland and Scent Work with NEW K9 Scent Work. Duncan also obtained his CGC with Packerland. When I read in the newsletter about some of the Outreach activities, I thought it would be another fun event to do with Duncan. We were at NWTC and St. Norbert College this month for student de-stressing events. They sure love it when the Packerland pups come for a visit!!! Duncan loves the attention and I enjoy watching the students interact with our dogs and listen to stories about their own pets.

6 -- SPECIAL NOTICE TO MEMBERS -PACKERLAND KENNEL CLUB, INC. ANNUAL ELECTION OF OFFICERS AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS The Nominating Committee consisting of Karen Gordon is honored to present this year s slate of nominees for your consideration. Please note: no additional nominations came from the floor at the Business Meeting on December 3, The annual election will be held on January 8, 2019; please remember that each person s 2019 membership dues must be paid on or before December 31, 2018 in order to cast a vote at the annual election. BY-LAW EXCERPT: SECTION 4. Nominations No person may be a candidate in a Club election who has not been nominated. During the month of October, the Board of Directors shall select a nominating committee consisting of three (3) members and two alternates, not more than one of whom shall be a member of the Board. The Corresponding Secretary shall immediately notify the committee persons and the alternates of their selection. The Board shall name a Chairperson and it shall be his or her duty to call a committee meeting which shall be held on or before November 15. A. The committee shall nominate one (1) candidate for each office and candidates for the other positions on the Board, and after securing the consent of each person so nominated, shall immediately report their nominations to the Corresponding Secretary in writing. B. Upon receipt of the nominating committee s report, the Corresponding Secretary shall, by December 1, notify each member in writing of the candidates so nominated. C. Additional nominations may be made at the December meeting by any member in attendance provided that the person so nominated does not decline when his/her name is proposed, and provided that if the proposed candidate is not in attendance at this meeting, his/her proposer shall present to the Corresponding Secretary a written statement from the candidate, signifying that person s willingness to be a candidate. No person may be a candidate for more than one position, and the additional nominations which are provided for herein, may be made only from among the members who have not accepted a nomination from the nominating committee. D. Nominations may not be made at the annual meeting or in any other manner than as provided in this Section. 7 PACKERLAND KENNEL CLUB MERIT AWARD AWARD GUIDELINES To claim a merit award, a title must have been earned between January 1 and December 31, If you think your dog has finished a title, but haven t received notification, call AKC to verify your points and/or legs to meet the DEADLINE (January 15, 2019). Club policy gives one (1) merit award for an individual dog for each title earned to the owner (co-owners may purchase a duplicate award from PKC if they are members in good standing with the Club). To request an award, the owner of the dog must be a member in good standing (not a trainee) and the dog must live primarily with the club member requesting the award. Only one plaque per dog will be awarded. The owner of the dog must have completed the required volunteer hours during the year or pay a $25.00 fee to PKC. Please submit one Merit Award form per dog regardless of the number of titles earned. Only AKC titles and titles recognized by AKC (accompanied with an AKC title certificate) will be awarded by PKC (including CGC and CGCA). Additional title plates for titles that are awarded by other clubs (other than AKC, including single breed parent clubs) may be purchased by the owner. (For awards other than from AKC, black title plates are $5.20 each and gold plates are $6.50 each.) The dog must earn an AKC title to be awarded the initial awards plaque by PKC. Only one MACH/PACH/PAX award plaque will be awarded per dog. Additional poles will be added to the plaque as the dog accumulates multiple agility championships. No awards will be given retroactively. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS-THIS APPLICATION MUST BE TURNED IN NO LATER THAN THE DEADLINE STATED ON THIS FORM!
