Box Green Bay, WI Volume 4, Issue 7 July, Officers ~ President ~ Richard Marquardt ~ Vice-President ~ John Heyn ~ Treasurer ~ Debbie Austin ~ Recording ecretary ~ Belinda Freeman ~ Corresponding ecretary ~ Kristie Katch Board Members ~ ~ Denise Hilbert Gwen Newman Erik wan ~ ~ Cheryl Bublitz Mary Jones Cheryl ulewski Director of Training Belinda Freeman (windchillacres@gmail.com) Agility Training Coordinator Keith Rosin (krosin721@gmail.com) Communication ~ Paw Print ~ Lynn Des Jardin (desjardin.lynn@gmail.com) Hello Fellow PKC Members! I hope everyone made it through the storms in June with no damage. What a bumpy ride this weather has been! We are getting numbers in for the 2017 Northeast Wisconsin Dog how Classic. Looks like another great year for the Club with a profit over $13,000! Way to go everyone involved! As stated previously, the all breed dog show is our largest revenue source for the year. I am asking again for someone to please step up to be the 2018 show chair for the all breed show. We have until November 8, 2017, to submit our application and judging panel to AKC. That does not give us much time as most judges are already accepting assignments for 2018 and the longer we wait, the less likely we will be able to get the judges we want. Please don't hesitate to talk to any board member if you have a question or are interested. We will help in any way that we can. On a happier note, we stopped in at the PKC Agility Trial the weekend of June 2-4. What a great group of people and a wonderful team effort putting this event on! We were there meeting friends who were exhibitors from Michigan and they and all the exhibitors set up around them agreed it is one of the nicest venues and well run trials they attend all year. o kudos to the PKC Agility Trial Team for a job well done! afe travels and I hope everyone has a winning July! 2 A Note from the Outreach Coordinator Ronda Bermke The PKC Outreach group was asked to visit with the students at De Pere High chool during their finals. Thank you so very much to the following Club members and their dogs that visited with the students over two days during morning and afternoon sessions. ue Ruesch and Golden kyy Betty Haevers and Papillon Maddi David Ness and Golden Libby Candee Brey and Doberman Lexx Wendee Draves and Am Water paniel Tucker Cheryl ulewski and Collie atin Julie Daul and Berner Uno Pat Ankeney and Poodle Mix Lily Rita VanDenHeuvel and Lab Mitch Upcoming Outreach Programs Tuesday, June 27, 2017 ~ 8-11 a.m. This is an outdoor program (no fencing) for two summer school classes in Pulaski. We will be doing some obedience and agility demos and talk to the children about dog safety and approaching dogs. If you are able to help for this program, please contact Ronda and she will get back to you with the event details. Farm Tech Days - July 11, 12 & 13 - Two hifts each day ~ 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 12:30-4 p.m. I am still in need of help for this big event!!!! I am looking for a minimum of two Club members and their dogs to sit at a booth during these three days. We have been scheduled to do a demo each day from 10:30-11:30 am. This is a big event (expected attendance is 45,000 people) and a wonderful opportunity to publicize the Club in a very positive way. Please remember that you need to be a PKC member and your dog needs to be very friendly with people and other dogs and tolerate loud noises. You also need to have a copy of your dog s current rabies vaccination certificate on file with the Outreach Committee. If you have any questions or can help out with any of the upcoming outreach events, please contact Outreach Coordinator, Ronda Bermke at bermke@centurytel.net.
3 AKC Trick Dog PKC On May 31, 2017, Packerland Kennel Club offered testing for the new AKC Trick Dog titles and what a great showing we had! Twenty-seven dogs were awarded 43 new trick dog titles ~ 27 new Novice titles (TKN), 10 new Intermediate titles (TKI) and 6 Advanced titles (TKA). Congratulations to all the members and non-members that participated in this fun new AKC sport! There were certainly lots of smiles and laughs heard through the PKC building that evening. Thank you to evaluators Cheryl ulewski, Rita VanDenHeuvel and Ronda Bermke for testing all those dogs and to Pat Ankeney and Wendee Draves for keeping all the paperwork in order. Candee Brey and Bree Draves kept the evening moving right along helping those testing move from station to station if needed. Beginner Obedience News We had a small but super group of students and dogs in the latest Beginners Obedience class. My thanks to Tammie cheich for judging, and to June Ashford, JoLynne tewart and Israel Rivera for helping teach the class. Ellen Kramer Beginners Instructor
4 ~ Keith Rosin ~ Agility Training Coordinator pring Trial Update The pring Agility Trial was a great success. We had over 600 runs during the 3 days. Everyone I spoke with had fun and said they love to come to our trials. I wish to thank all the volunteers that worked moving equipment, laying the flooring, working at the trial, helping coordinate the trial and anything else that you may have done. If it wasn t for the hard work of volunteers we would not be able to conduct our Agility Trial. You are truly appreciated! Keith Rosin ~ pring Agility Trial Chair AGILITY RUN-THRU Packerland Kennel Club will be conducting Agility Run- Thrus at the Horse Barn located at the Brown County Fairgrounds, 1500 Ft.
