2 General Information The Cleveland County Fairgrounds serves as the location for our 3-day event. The Fairground is located at 1751 E. Marion Street, Shelby, NC Camper hookups providing water, electricity and sewer are available for exhibitors who want to stay overnight on the grounds. Contact the Fair office at (704) for rates and other information. The Fair will not provide overnight security and is not responsible for safety of animals. Schedule of Events Friday, June 8, PM Youth Check-in 1-7 PM Early Check-in for Open Shows (bucks shown today must be in place by 5 PM) Note: There will be a free barbeque dinner for exhibitors who check in early. Call Kim Peace at to reserve your plate. Note: A buyer will be on hand on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, and will pay cash for meat animals. 3 ADGA-Sanctioned Open Dairy Goat Shows -Open to the World- Show Times: Saturday, June 9 beginning at 9 AM (Judges Karen Smith & Melinda Butler) Sunday, June 10 beginning at 8 AM (Judges Karen Smith & Pete Snyder) The Junior and Senior Shows are sanctioned separately by the American Dairy Goat Association and their rules shall govern. Refer to for complete details. Only American Dairy Goat Association, American Goat Society and Canadian Goat Society registered, recorded or applied-for animals may be shown in an official American Dairy Goat Association show. Entry fee is $6 per animal per ring (discounted to $20 per animal to show in all four rings) if received by May 25. Late entries received after May 25 are $8 per animal per ring (discounted to $25 per animal to show in all four rings). Pen rentals are $10 each for a 10 x12 open stall, or $5 each for 5 x5 pens. Pens will be assigned by show personnel, and exhibitors are not allowed to claim their pens prior to check-in. Entry & pen fees must accompany entry form. Substitutions are discouraged, but will be allowed within breed during specified check-in times. There will be no refunds of fees paid. Checks should be made payable to Small Animal Producers and mailed with Open Shows Entry Form to: NC Cooperative Extension c/o Greg Traywick 130 S. Post Road, Suite 1 Shelby, NC The base date for computing ages in the date of show. There is no pre-show milk-out. The original registration certificate is required for all animals six months of age or older and MUST be shown to the Show Secretary before the start of the show. The original registration certificate or duplicate application stamped by the ADGA office is required for all animals under six months of age and this MUST be shown to the Show Secretary before the start of the show. No copies of registration certificate or the stamped duplicate application, telegrams or phone calls will be accepted in lieu of the original certificate. All animals entering the grounds must be healthy. Health papers are not required for animals originating in North Carolina. For out-of-state animals, health certificates are required, as well as negative brucellosis and TB tests within 30 days or herd certifications and accreditation unless animals are from states that are certified TB and Brucellosis Free by the USDA (check with your veterinarian). A health check of all animals will be made on the grounds and suspect/unhealthy animals will be barred from entry. When you submit your entry, you agree to abide by the decision of show officials. 3
4 All animals must be checked in with attending health inspectors and the show superintendent during the prescribed check-in times. If your animal is awarded a GCH or RGCH, you must have your papers ready for immediate viewing by the judge. Please verify all information on the official show sheet prior to signing. Exhibitors are responsible for providing their own feed and bedding. Initial bedding of sawdust will be provided in each pen. Additional bedding of straw if desired will be available for purchase at the show. Judging will begin in Ring 1 at the posted start times on schedule of events. Senior does will show first in the following order: 1) Alpine, 2) LaMancha, 3) Nubian, 4) Saanen, 5) Oberhasli, 6) Recorded Grade, 7) Nigerian Dwarf., And 8) AOP. THE ORDER OF THE SHOW IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE at the discretion of the show committee based on number of entries in each class. When all Senior Does of a breed have been judged in Ring 1, they will move to Ring 2. When judging of all Senior does is completed in Ring 2, the Junior Doe Show will start in Ring 1, using the same show order listed above. Or as determined by the show committee at start of show. 4
