1 LIVESTOCK SECTION Livestock entries shall be listed by division, selection, class, name, birthday, registration number of the animal, and be signed by the owner. FEES: $5 Beef and Dairy per head $3 Swine, Sheep, and Goats per head $1 Poultry and Rabbits per head ENTRIES DUE: At Fair Grounds Clean-Up Day. After that date $25.00 late fee per species. Remember to get Season Passes before the fair. RETURN FORMS TO DIVISION CHAIRPERSON 1. All animals subjected to health rules as specified in the Animal Health Regulations of the catalog. 2. All animals must be registered, with the exception of meat goats division and market classes of the Junior Livestock Division. Letter registration will be accepted. Registration papers will be examined. 3. Poultry and Rabbit entries must be on grounds and set up by 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. All other entries must be on the fairgrounds, Thursday by 12:00 noon. Livestock will be released at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. 4. Each exhibitor will furnish his own feed and bedding. 5. Use Livestock Entry form for all livestock classes, including bucket calves. Use different form for each exhibitor and each livestock entry species (copy form as needed). Entries turned into species chairperson. 6. Each exhibitor shall purchase a season pass in advance, everyone entering the gate must have a pass. 7. In classes where there is no competition, the judges shall award the ribbon that they think the animal deserves and paid only second place premium junior or open. 8. Animals weighed-in at the initial spring weigh-in will be ineligible to be shown in its respective breeding classes. 9. Each exhibitor will be paid only one premium per class. 10. All cattle shall be broken to handle on the halter. 11. The division s Chairman will make pen and stall assignments only. 12. All animals entered in this Fair will remain until released by the Superintendent. 13. The junior breed classes and market animal shows are open to all 4-H and FFA members only. 14. In junior breed classes, all entries must be owned by and registered in the name of the youth. 15. All junior entries will be judged same as open show. Premiums will be paid on the ribbon. 16. Only Junior 1st place blue ribbon winners may show in the open show. 17. A Showmanship Class will be held open to any junior exhibitor. 18. All tattoos must match registration papers. 19. The exhibitor must obey all rules or premium money will be forfeited. 20. Livestock pens and stalls MUST BE attended and cleaned, or premium money will be forfeited. 21. Tie-out space is available. Tie-out time is 9:00 p.m.; return to barn by 9:00 a.m. 22. All entries are made with the distinct understanding that in no event will the Phelps County Fair be responsible for any injury, loss or damage, which may occur to any person, animal or article. 23. All animals must have been owned and registered at least 30 days before show date. 24. Exhibitors will not be allowed to have alcoholic beverages at any time. Upon failure to comply with this rule you will be asked to remove livestock and yourself from the premises. All entry fees and prize money will then be forfeited. 25. 2 2018 Market Animal Requirements ELIGIBILITY AND RULES: To be eligible to sell a market animal, exhibitors must be a member in good standing with a 4-H club or FFA chapter in Phelps County. Exhibitors may be asked to provide membership standing verification at the time of the fair. Each exhibitor must abide by the Missouri Department of Agriculture animal health standards for exhibiting. We recommend a minimum of 600 pounds at spring Market steers must be born after January 1, We recommend that your steer be born early spring of Market steers must be dehorned, castrated, Each exhibitor may show two market animals of the same species but can only sell one. Each exhibitor may only sell two species at the Phelps County Fair. Hogs may be shown but not sold if under this weight. Market gilts weighed in at spring weigh-in can only be shown in the market class at the fair. Market hogs will be sold upon index placing All market hogs must be harvested. Must supply bedding for hogs at fair. No washing hogs on barn floor during the fair. All hogs must be washed in the wash rack. Final weigh-in and ultrasound will be 6:30 p.m. Thursday, August 2, Four chickens in a meat pen are considered one species. Can either be Cornish-Crosses or heritage meat breed of your choice but all birds must be the same breed. Follow label instructions for all products used. Heifers must be treated for internal and external parasites within 30 days of sale. Need to show receipt of products purchased. 2. Horns and scurs must be removed and completely healed by sale day. 3. Must be open (Vet will be on site at final weigh in to pregnancy check heifer and guarantee she is open) 4. Send picture(s) and description of tagged heifer to jiyr4d@mail.missouri.edu by Saturday, July 7, 2018 to qualify your heifer. (Use your own tag, must be able to read number/writing on tag and see body of animal which may require 2 different pictures.) 5. Replacement heifers must be born between March 1, 2017 and November 15, Must weigh between 650 lbs and 900 lbs at final 7. Fee of $5 per head (due with fair registration form) 8. Heifers must be halter broke and manageable at final 9. Exhibitor must have a short (3-8 sentences) biography about the heifer prepared when they weigh-in their heifer at the fair to be put into sale bill for buyers to read. (This may include, but not limited to: birth date, breed, name, sire info, dam info, and vaccinations she was given)

4 RECOMMENDED 1. Recommended for exhibitors to test and guarantee their heifer is negative for BVD-PI. (This would be more appealing to a buyer at the sale.) 2. Exhibitors are recommended to choose a fall of 2017 born beef (no dairy and polled) female that is weaned in spring of 2018 and gain approx. 1.5 to 2 lbs per day (do NOT overfeed heifers). *Grand and reserve replacement heifers will be chosen.
