Absolutely only pre-entered poultry is allowed on the Colorado State Fair grounds. Any poultry brought on grounds that was not pre-entered will be removed by security, confiscated, and owner will be disqualified from the show and all premiums and awards will be forfeited POULTRY Health Requirements and Examination : All entrants for livestock exhibited in open, breed, or market competitions shall provide either a Premises Registration Number or an NPIP (National Poultry Improvement Plan) Flock Registration number on the entry form.

3 3. Colorado continues to work toward achieving Pullorum/Typhoid Clean State Status through the National Poultry Improvement Plan. All poultry (chickens and turkeys) entered in Colorado State Fair shows are highly recommended to be tested for Pullorum/Typhoid (a Salmonella bacterial disease). Veterinarians and veterinary students from Colorado State University and participants of the Colorado Poultry Health Board will be on site at the Colorado State Fair during poultry check-in to test any non-tested chickens and turkeys. Samples for testing are collected by taking a small blood sample from the bird (through a small prick to the wing vein). The test can be run immediately at the site where the samples are collected. For testing of birds prior to attending the fair, phone the Colorado Avian Disease Surveillance Program at All testing is free of charge. Any birds tested prior to attending the State Fair will not need to be re-tested at the fair. In addition, the Colorado Avian Disease Surveillance Program (CADSP) will be at Poultry Check-in on Friday and Saturday, August 25-26, 2012 from 8am-8pm. They will be collecting samples for avian influenza virus testing. 4. Out of State Health Requirements All poultry must be from flocks actively participating in (1) the National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP), or (2) comparative Pullorum disease control plan administered by the State of origin, or (3) be subject to testing upon arrival. 5. Unloading and Pickup: All poultry, regardless of origin, will be received at the Small Animal Building. Enter the fair grounds at Livestock Gate #4. Short-term unloading/loading is provided in designated area behind Sheep/Swine Barn. Driving to the Small Animal Barn is not allowed. If you are unloading after 9:30 AM, go to the Poultry Office in the Small Animal Barn to request assistance with transport of birds. Parking is not permitted on the South side of the Small Animal Barn for unloading/loading. Vehicles may be towed without warning. 6. Poultry Show Standards: The Colorado State Fair is a member of the American Poultry Association (APA) and American Bantam Association (ABA). All poultry will be judged by the APA and ABA standards in accordance with the latest revised edition of the American Standards of Perfection, copyrighted by the A.P.A., Inc. and A.B.A. Inc. All Non-Standard breeds will be judged by comparison. 7. Entry Deadline: Entries must be in the State Fair office by August 6 th, or postmarked on or before August 6 th. Entry fee must accompany entry. In case of cancellation by an exhibitor, no entry fee will be refunded after August 20 th. Exhibitors who have met the posted deadline with previous Small Animal entries, will be accepted for a late entry with a charge of $1.00 per class, provided space is available. Entries postmarked after August 6 th, and prior to August 20 th will be accepted with a double entry fee, provided space is available. Metered stamped mail will be accepted only two (2) days after deadline date. When cooping capacity is reached entries will be returned. All entrants for poultry exhibited in open, breed, or market competitions shall provide a Premises Identification Number or a NPIP Number on the entry form. Colorado State Fair Management or Poultry judge reserves the right to reclassify birds when necessary. 8. Entry Forms: Competition will be open to the world in the Open Division. All specimens competing must be entered in the name of the actual owner. A violation of this rule will cause forfeiture of any and all awards and premiums that might have been awarded to each exhibitor. NOTE: The Divisions and Class Numbers are the indicators for the Sex and Age. Band Numbers are recommended on the Entry Form. Entry for Display Class should be indicated on the Entry form. Exhibitor will designate the birds for their Display Class upon arrival and cooping at the Fair. 9. Exhibitor Number: Each exhibitor will be given a number. The Coop Tags will have the exhibitor s number on them with no other reference to ownership of the bird. All birds MUST HAVE a numbered leg band prior to cooping at the Colorado State Fair and the number entered on the Coop Tag. Each exhibitor must not use duplicate band numbers. If a band number change is made prior to judging, the exhibitor is responsible to notify the Show Personnel. Bands must be on bird at time of judging. 10. Display Competition: Chickens, Geese, Ducks, Turkeys, and Guinea Fowl: Must include an entry of seven entries, one entry each in cock, hen, cockerel, and pullet classes, plus three more entries of the same variety, either sex and age, per APA Standard of Perfection. NOTE: Exhibitor will not be required to designate the birds for their Display Class until arrival and cooping at the Fair. The Entry Confirmation Sheet should be returned to Superintendent with a notation of birds to compete for Best Display.

4 11. Substitutions: Substitutions of birds entered with a Band Number may be made if the bird is the same Class, Breed, Variety, Sex and Age as the original bird entered on entry form. If a change is to a different Breed, Variety, Class, Sex, or Age, this will be considered a new entry and late entry fees will apply. Any Band Number changes MUST BE WRITTEN BY EXHIBITOR on Coop Tag at time of arrival. Failure to so indicate may result in a Disqualification of bird. This change must also be noted and given to Poultry Superintendent on Entry Confirmation Sheet provided at check-in of Poultry. 12. Handling Birds: No one will be allowed to handle any bird except the Owner, Judge, or Colorado State Fair Staff. 13. Judging: Class placings made will be at the discretion of the judge with merit of the bird the determining factor. No one except judge, clerks, and attendants will be allowed in aisle during judging. All aisles will be closed off while judging is in progress. The judges' decision shall be final. 14. Superintendent Duties: The exhibition, in all respects will be under the control of the Show Superintendent who will be governed by the ABA and APA. The superintendent reserves the right to reclassify birds when not entered in the proper class. 15. Premiums: There is no limit to the number of animals an exhibitor may enter in this show or in any one of these classes. Premiums will be paid in accordance with the premium schedule listed in this division. Use Division and Class Numbers on entry form. 16. Advertising and Display of Signs: Exhibitors will be allowed to place advertisements upon their exhibit following the judging to advertise their stock remaining for sale. Special Coop Tags provided will indicate a bird is For Sale and sale price indicated on the tag. Any exhibitor wishing to change this sale price must inform the Superintendent of such change. Any advertising display will be placed above or below coop. 17. Feed & Water: All exhibits will be fed, watered and cared for on a regular routine schedule by the Colorado State Fair at no charge to exhibitors. 18. POULTRY SALES: A Sales Office will be operated by Colorado State Fair personnel for the sale of poultry. The Colorado State Fair management offers this sales opportunity to exhibitors as a service only. The Sale Times will be posted in the showroom. The Colorado State Fair is NOT LIABLE for any sales prices or postings by the exhibitor. Completion of a Small Animal Sales Receipt is binding to both the exhibitor and buyer. An exhibitor is expected to place correct special remarks or sale conditions on the coop tag for any poultry that is placed for sale. The Colorado State Fair is not responsible for sale poultry once they have been removed from the Small Animal Building. All sales will be charged a 10% commission per bird. The minimum sale price is $10.00 per bird on all sales. If an exhibitor places a bird for sale at less than $10.00, a commission of $1.00 will still be charged. Any private treaty sale and/or trade made by exhibitors will be charged a $5.00 per bird commission for office recording fees. NO PERSONAL CHECKS --- Cash, Cashier s Checks, or Money Orders only. ATM s are conveniently located on grounds. 19. The Colorado State Fair Management is making it mandatory for all exhibitors to purchase their animal bedding through the Colorado State Fair Feed/Bedding Concessionaire. There will be no outside bedding allowed on the State Fairgrounds. If you choose to violate this rule and bring your own bedding, you will be asked to remove it from the grounds immediately! This rule will be highly enforced by the Colorado State Fair Management team. 20. Release of Birds: No birds will be allowed to leave the building without a written release from the Colorado State Fair authorized personnel. Please allow time for CSF personnel for required assistance in check-out of Poultry. Colorado State Fair is not responsible for birds once they are removed from the Small Animal Building. 21. Eggs: The Superintendents and assistants will gather all eggs laid during the show. All eggs will become the property of the Colorado State Fair. 22. All birds left in the Small Animal Building after Tuesday, September 4 th will become the property of the Colorado State Fair unless a special arrangement has been approved through CSF Small Animal Superintendent.

International Waterfowl Breeders Association DISTRICT Meet: To qualify for IWBA awards, a minimum of 100 waterfowl must be shown (50 ducks, 25 geese, and remainder of either. Master Exhibitor points are given for best and reserve varieties when there are two or more exhibitors showing in each variety. You must be a member in good standing before judging to qualify for awards. National Call Breeders of American, LLC SPECIAL Meet: National Call Breeders will award National Call Breeders certificates for Champion and Reserve Champion Call to National Call Breeders members in good standing prior to judging. Members will also be awarded Master Breeder points providing there are at least two exhibitors and 25 Calls entered. The member with the most points for a year receives the Master Exhibitor Award and the member with the most points in five years wins the Master Breeder award.
