1 DEPARTMENT J POULTRY Superintendent: Pat Biren Registration Due: JULY 16 Entry Fee: $0.25 per single bird. The same bird may not be entered in both open class and 4-H. Entries must be in place by 6:00pm Wednesday. Birds may be brought to the fair grounds between 6:00-9:00pm on Tuesday. They can be picked up after 6:00pm the last day of the fair. Entry tags will be provided on arrival. All loose or uncontrolled animals are subject to a review of a Scott County Fairboard designated committee consisting of the president (or his/her designee), the barn superintendent (unrelated to 4-H), and another individual. Animals are subject to be sent home with premiums to be unpaid pending committee decision. Show: Wednesday July 25, 5:00pm Coop, feed and care will be provided while at the fair. Each exhibitor will be limited to two entries in each lot, and a total of 35 birds on display. Not more than 70 birds per family. All birds must be banded and have health certificates. Definitions of Exhibits: Single bird: cock, hen, cockerel, pullet Cock: a male bird over one year old Cockerel: a male bird under one year old Pullet: a female bird under one year old Hen: a female bird over one year old All young birds must be 16 weeks of age or older. Premiums will be paid to exhibitors on all standard bred poultry that have been recognized in the latest edition of the American Standard of Perfection. An exhibitor may enter game birds in addition to the standard breeds of poultry and waterfowl. These will be subject to the same premiums and awards. Premiums: $2.00, 1.50, and 1.00 A cash prize will be awarded to the following campions: Champion Large Fowl Cock or Cockerel Champion Large Fowl Hen or Pullet Champion Bantam Cock or Cockerel Champion Bantam Hen or Pullet Champion Duck, young or old Drake Champion Duck, young or old Hen Champion Geese, young or old Gander Champion Geese, young or old Goose Champion Game Bird or Turkey Champion Pigeon The American Standard of Perfection will be the judges guide, and awards will be made per breed and variety. Competition will be on single birds only. The comparison method of judging will be used, but no unworthy specimen will be awarded a premium. The superintendent reserves the right to refuse any unworthy or diseased bird. All birds will be reasonably cared for after their arrival and placement. But under no circumstances will be fair board be responsible for loss, injury, disease, sickness or damage done to, or occasioned by, or arising from a bird on exhibition, and the exhibitor shall indemnify the fair and management thereof against all legal or other proceedings in regard thereto.
