Twenty five and nine months (26 yrs and 6 months) at the University of Nairobi and ten (10 yr) at the Department of Veterinary Services, Ministry of Livestock development, Government of Kenya. b. Teaching of Veterinary Pathology (Domestic Animals, Avian, Fish and Aquatic diseases conditions) to Undergraduate students in Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (General, Systemic, Diagnostic and Special Pathology), BSc in Biomedical Technology (Histopathology), and BSc in Wildlife Management (Crocodile and Ostrich Diseases); and Diploma in Animal Health and Management (General and Clinical pathology). 2. Teaching of Clinical Pathology to Veterinary Undergraduate and Postgraduate students. 3. Teaching Medicine (Crocodile Diseases) to Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine students. 4. Co- investigator for Capacity Building for Training and Research in Aquatic and Environmental Health in Eastern and Southern Africa (TRAHESA) funded by NORHED, 2013 (1, 193,778 Norwegian Kroner for University of Nairobi). 2. Co- investigator for Enhancing Sustainability and Commercialization of Aquaculture through best Production Practices, Value Addition and Partnership in Development Funded by National Council of Science and Technology in 2011 for Ksh 7, 000, The project will support MSc and PhD students. 3. Co- investigator for the project Enhancing Village Chicken Productivity through Parasite Management for Effective Newcastle Disease Vaccination in Kenya funded by RUFORUM in 2010 for US$59,984. Project has two (2) enrolled Master of Science students. 4. Co- investigator for the project Enhancement of sustainable productivity of Fish in Lake Victoria through control of Pollutants with emphasis on Endocrine disruptors and Microbial Pathogens funded for US$96,053 by The Lake Victoria Research (VicRes) Initiative. The project has supported two (2) MSc students (one in Kenya and another in Uganda). 5. Co- investigator for Avian flu School and Poultry Health, Tier II Training Course for veterinarians, paravets, public health officers and farmers at Embu and Mtwapa funded for US$ 20,000 in 2008 by Global Livestock CRSP through University of California Davis, USA. 40 participants were trained. 6. Principal investigator for Poultry Health for Development funded for US$ 13,500 in 2008 for development of Handbook of Poultry Diseases important in 6

7 7 Africa by Global Livestock CRSP through University of California Davis, USA (book published in 2010). The project supported two (2) MSc students. 7. Co- investigator for Poultry Health for Development in 2008 for development of curriculum for teaching poultry diseases and biosecurity funded for US$ 25,000 by Global Livestock CRSP through University of California Davis, USA (the curriculum has since been used to train women groups in Central, Eastern, Rift valley and Western Provinces). 8. Co- investigator for Avian flu School Training for Trainers Course funded for US$ 20,000 in 2007 by Global Livestock CRSP through University of California Davis, USA In this training 25 participants were trained. 9. MANAGEMENT AND COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP a. Duties at the Department of Veterinary Pathology, Microbiology and Parasitology 1. I have served as acting Chairman of the Department of Pathology, Microbiology and Parasitology on several occasions between 2005 and I am involved in Pathology Diagnostic services (including Fish and Poultry) as part of capacity of our departmental service to the animal industry. 3. I chair the Departmental committee on diagnostic charges. 4. I am a member of the Departmental committee on Strategic planning. 5. I coordinate the teaching of Clinical Pathology (undergraduates and postgraduates) and Master of Science in Fish Science program in the department. 6. I Coordinate of the teaching of the Master of Science in Clinical Pathology and Laboratory Diagnosis to Master of Science students. 7. I Coordinated and Prepared Time tables for all Master of Science programs in the Department up to I have been involved in the development of teaching curriculum of undergraduate and postgraduate students in the department especially MSc in Fish Science, MSc in Clinical pathology and Diagnostics and MSc in Veterinary Pathology and Diagnostics together with other colleagues. 9. I have drafted a Short course on fish Diseases and Management that has been passed by Department, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, College of Agriculture and Veterinary Services and has been accepted by the Kenya Veterinary Board to be rolled out as a continuing course for veterinarians. b. Duties in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine 1. I am previous Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Time Tabling Committee since August 2006 August The committee Plans, Modifies and Prepares Time Tables for departments in the faculty. I have been given a commendation letter. 2. I am a member of the faculty Time Tabling Committee. 3. I am a member of the faculty curriculum committee that is charged with the development of all curricula in the faculty. I have been given a commendation letter. 7

In collaboration with colleagues in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and staff of the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Development, I was involved in the development of a Strategic plan for the Leather Development Officers under the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Development in 2007 to assist the ministry in achieving its role in vision I received an appreciation letter from the Permanent secretary in the ministry. We also developed a curriculum for leather technology for Diploma, Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy courses. 5. In collaboration with colleagues in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine I was involved in development of BSc in Fisheries and Aquaculture. 6. I have been a member of the College Industrial and Attachment committee from I was a member of the tree planting committee in April I was a member of the University of Nairobi Senate Time tabling committee as a Faculty of Veterinary Medicine representative. d. National and International duties 4. I am currently the appointed World animal health O.I.E. (Office International des epizooties), Focal Point on Aquatic Animal Health in Kenya by the Director of Veterinary Services. 10. COMMUNITY, EXTENSION AND OUTREACH 1. I facilitated a Workshop on enhancement of sustainable productivity of fish in lake Victoria through control of pollutants with emphasis on endocrine disruptors and microbial pathogens held at Sturidge hotel, Homabay on I facilitated a Workshop on Enhancing chicken productivity through parasite management for effective Newcastle disease vaccination in Kenya Mbeere stakeholders workshop at Masters hall, Mutuobare 3 rd to 5 th December I facilitated a workshop on the Indigenous poultry seminar at the University of Nairobi October I was a Judge of the Eggs/Dressed poultry/ Bantams classes in the ASK poultry banda, Nairobi International Trade Fair, Jamhuri Park, Nairobi in I have been a vice-chairman of poultry and pig subcommittee at Nairobi International Trade Fair, where I am a committee member for the last 21 years. PARTICIPATION IN CONSULTANCY AND EXPERT COMMITTEES 1. With other poultry experts (Tanzania and Uganda), we formulated Regional Poultry Biosecurity Guidelines for Food and Agriculture Organization of United Nations (FAO - ECTAD) in Participated and presented Regional Poultry Biosecurity Guidelines to the Stakeholders Regional Workshop on Poultry Biosecurity Guidelines at White Stone in Bujumbura, Burundi on 18 th to 19 th March Participated in joint OIE-FAO (Office International des epizooties and Food and Agriculture Organization of UN) Aquatic biosecurity framework for Southern Africa: A scoping meeting of Regional Fisheries and Veterinary Authorities on 12 th -15 th October 2009 at Hotel Thule, Windhoek, Namibia. 4. I was contracted together with other experts by USAID through Development Alternatives Inc (DAI) to train women poultry farmers through the Women training and Poultry Health and Welfare/Well-being in Kenya project in 2010 and I was part of Kenya Veterinary Board team that undertook Inspection of animal health courses in Egerton university on 8 th to 11 th
