It is found in the deserts of the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It is one of the smallest boas. The rosy boa grows to be only 2 or 3 feet (about 1 meter) long. It is found in the tropical rainforests and wetlands near the Amazon River. It is the largest snake in the world. It can grow to be 30 feet (9.1 meters) long and nearly 4 feet (1.2 meters) around. The anaconda s massive body is thick and strong. 7 The anaconda is clumsy on land, but it swims like a fish! Its eyes and nostrils are close to the top of its head. This lets it stay very low in the water to wait for prey. It eats turtles and birds. The anaconda also eats deer, wild pigs, and other large mammals that come to the water to drink. Mentions a few facts or ideas but does not express the important information or ideas. 2 Reflects satisfactory understanding of the text. Includes important information and ideas but neglects other key understandings. 3 Reflects excellent understanding of the text. Includes almost all important information and main ideas. Key Understandings Prompts Score The rosy boa lives in North America in the deserts of the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It is one of the smallest boas. It grows only 2-3 feet long. It is timid and tricks its predators. The anaconda lives in South America in the tropical rainforests and wetlands. It is the largest snake in the world and can grow up to 30 feet.
