It is found in the tropical rainforests and wetlands near the Amazon River. It is the largest snake in the world. It can grow to be 30 feet (9.1 meters) long and nearly 4 feet (1.2 meters) around. The anaconda s massive body is thick and strong. 7 The anaconda is clumsy on land, but it swims like a fish! Its eyes and nostrils are close to the top of its head. This lets it stay very low in the water to wait for prey. It eats turtles and birds. The anaconda also eats deer, wild pigs, and other large mammals that come to the water to drink.
