2 Stall fees: This facility does not at this time have panels/pens. Many llama people have their own panels. So those that bring panels for their llamas and/or extra panels will not be charged a stalling fee for the weekend (yes your stalls would be FREE). However, again we need to know how many stalls you need and how many panels you are bringing so we can be sure to make provisions for those people that need to purchase stalls. Purchased stalls will be $25 for the weekend. Again, there will be NO STALLING CHARGE for those that bring their OWN PANELS. There will be space inside a barn and also outside of the barn (with an overhang). If you would rather be outside (limited to 20 stalls) make that notation on your entry form. People will need to bring and clean up their own bedding in all stalls (no paper, please). Our stalling coordinator is Kelly McWhorter. Please contact her ( or ogert@comcast.net <mailto:ogert@comcast.net>) if you have any questions or concerns. If you have extra panels you can bring, please do to help out. Plan to arrive after 3pm on Friday. Entry deadline: Entries must be postmarked by August 6, 2010 to be included in the show program and so that you may be entered for all the door and giveaway prizes you don t want to miss out. Health Requirements: The show does not require a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection; those traveling across state lines to reach the show are responsible for awareness of requirements of the jurisdictions through which you will pass. ILR or CLRC Registration: All llamas must have copies of ILR certificates included with Registration packets with the exception of llamas used for Youth classes or veterinarian certified Non-Breeders (bring Vet certificate). Awards: Ribbons will be awarded for first through sixth place in every class and to Grand and Reserve Grand Champion in each division, including the fleece show. In addition, we will be awarding an Overall Youth Grand and Reserve for each age group. Also, we will award Color Champions, Best of Show Female, a Best of Show Male, and a Best of Show Fleece. Remember this is a double point show so each judge will choose a best of show. Special Contest: We will have a special prize for the stall/trailer area display that best reflects the show s theme JINGLE BELLS EXTRAVAGANZA. Judging will take place Saturday afternoon and be announced at the Saturday night dinner. Bill Fogle Sportsmanship Award for Youth and Bill Fogle Sportsmanship Award for Adult. As everyone is aware the llama community lost a dear friend and supporter when Bill Fogle unexpectedly passed away in In tribute to his memory and also to his unfailingly good sportsmanship, and to uphold a value that should be important to every exhibitor, we are instituting the above two sportsmanship awards. You do not need to enter to be eligible for this award. These special awards are graciously sponsored by Jeff and Niki Kuklenski, JNK Llamas. Arrival: Llamas may check-in between 3pm and 9pm Friday, August 20 (PLEASE DO NOT ARRIVE EARLY WITHOUT MAKING SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS WITH THE SUPERINTENDENT). All halter llamas must be checked in before 8:00 am Saturday, August 21. Bedding: Show Management will not provide bedding, participants must bring their own. Departure: Please clean your stalls before you depart. Anything not done will fall on the volunteers of this show! Showers and Camping: Showers are available at no extra charge. Overnight space for trailers / campers will be available. At this time, there are very few spaces with electrical and water hook-ups. There is no fee for

3 camping for the weekend. But we do need to know if you will be camping so please make that notation on your entry form. Human Food and Water: Breakfast is on your own (our host hotel serves a complimentary breakfast). Beverages including smoothies and espresso, breakfast items and a great lunch menu Saturday and Sunday will be offered for sale via a food vendor. Llamas and alpacas must provide their own food and water. Dismissal can take place even before the animal enters the ring if show personnel bring the matter to the Judge s attention. The Judge may dismiss an exhibitor and their animal from any class if the exhibitor mistreats their animal. Show management may dismiss an exhibitor and their animal from participation at the show if the exhibitor mistreats their animal. Llamas may not be moved from one class to another after halter judging has begun, except at the Judge s discretion. Youth between the ages of 8 through 18 may show intact males. It is recommended that youth under 8 years of age not show intact males and youth between the ages of 8 to 12 years not show intact males over 24 months of age. Handler attire should be conservative, neat and appropriate for the class. Shoes should be appropriate for the show ring (open toed shoes, sandals and bare feet will disqualify the exhibitor). Suggested attire is dark pants or skirt and white shirt or blouse. Handler attire should be conservative, neat and appropriate for the class. Exhibitors shall not knowingly exhibit animals in any ILR class, which, in their opinion, exhibit unsoundness. Exhibitors are responsible for following the progress of the show and shall be at ringside ten minutes before their class is called. There will be a loudspeaker that runs throughout the fairgrounds, so please listen for your classes. An exhibitor shall not knowingly show where there is a conflict of interest with the Judge. The burden of responsibility is with the owner, exhibitor or trainer to recognize a conflict of interest. Age Division Descriptions: Juvenile: 5 months up to less than 12 months. Age Divisions: same as other halter classes but no juvenile class is available. FLEECE SHOW SHORN FLEECE AND FLEECE-ON FLEECE At this time one fleece show is ILR and one show is open. We anticipate that the second show will be ILR but cannot at this time guarantee that it will be. We will announce at show time if the second show is an open show or an ILR show. More information is provided in a separate packet. Shorn fleece must have a separate entry tag. Shorn fleece will be judged on the danish system. COMPOSITE (Halter + Walking Fleece). Results will be posted online and ribbons mailed or delivered at a future event. FINISHED PRODUCT. New this year, descriptions are on the class list. Both shorn fleece and finished products can be mailed to: Marilynn Larson, Bayview Road, Mount Vernon, WA, phone: Mailed entries must be received by Friday August 6, Entry forms and fees are to be mailed with fleece entry. PERFORMANCE CLASSES Obstacle, Public Relations and Pack Classes: The purpose of these classes is to demonstrate the well-trained animal s obedience and willingness to complete the activities requested by the handler. Youth will be allowed to enter Open classes. However, the same animal will NOT be allowed to show in both a Youth Class and an Open class. Llamas are to be entered in the division for which they are eligible at the time of the show. Halter class rules also apply. Classes are open to any llama five months of age or over, except if otherwise specified in the class requirements. A llama may be entered in only one division of the respective class. It is the exhibitors responsibility to enter the correct division. Alpacas may be entered and compete in the performance and Showmanship classes with the llamas. Llamas must make an attempt at each obstacle, otherwise it will be counted as off course. In adult classes, llamas must make only one attempt at each obstacle. If obstacle is not completed, they will be judged accordingly and then go on to the next obstacle. A llama or handler going off-course cannot place over an animal that completed the course. Coaching from the sidelines by spectators is discouraged and may compromise the exhibitor s scoring. After refusals at three obstacles, it will then be mandatory for the Judge to dismiss the exhibitor from the course. This procedure is not to be used in Youth classes without prior agreement of show management and explanation to the exhibitors.

6 In obstacle classes, it is at the Judge s discretion whether the handler must negotiate the obstacles. Only voice and hand commands may be used in exhibiting animals. No written notes may be used in performance classes. Exhibitors may request the Judge provide a review of their individual score cards. Scorecards may not be reviewed without the permission of the Judge. All score sheets should remain the property of the Judge and only interpreted by the Judge with exhibitors on an individual basis. Showmanship Classes: A Showmanship class is a demonstration of the handler s ability to show his/her animal to its best advantage at halter. Judging is based on the exhibitor s basic skills in fitting, grooming, following directions, and style of presenting the animal to the Judge for evaluation. The animal s conformation is not to be considered. Handler s attire should be neat, clean, and appropriate for the class. YOUTH CLASSES: Age Categories (youth s age is based on their age on January 1 st, 2010): Junior: 7 years through 11 years Intermediate: 12 years through 15 years Senior: 16 years thru 18 years All youth ages 7 through 18, as of January 1 of the calendar year, may show in the following classes. Rudolph Youth Package---Special Youth Pricing: If a youth enters these classes----showmanship, Public Relations, Pack, Obstacle and one class of their choosing, the package entry fee is $50. A Youth must enter all listed classes to access this package fee. Pre-Delta Society Therapy Testing: Here is your chance to see if your llama or alpaca has what it takes for therapy work. Niki Kuklenski is a camelid evaluator for Delta Society Pet Therapy Niki will put your animal through a mock test of what is done when you test for therapy work. This class may be signed up for through Niki, please contact her at jnkllamas@nas.com if you would like to have this opportunity during the JBE weekend. SHOW SUGGESTIONS: Both handler and animal should be neatly groomed and attired. When in the show ring, do not talk with ring personnel or other handlers unless required. Concentrate on showing your animal to its best ability. Your animal can be more easily evaluated if it leads well and stands quietly. Encourage your animal to defecate before entering the ring. Watch closely for instructions from the Ring Steward or Judge. Be ready to show your animal s number to the Ring Steward or Judge when necessary.
