Nursing llamas cannot be accompanied in the ring by their babies. Show management recommends not showing nursing mothers. The Judge may dismiss animals exhibiting unruly or unsafe behavior from the ring. Dismissal can take place even before the animal enters the ring if show personnel bring the matter to the Judge s attention. The Judge may dismiss an exhibitor and their animal from any class if the exhibitor mistreats their animal. Show management may dismiss an exhibitor and their animal from participation at the show if the exhibitor mistreats their animal. Llamas may not be moved from one class to another after halter judging has begun, except at the Judge s discretion. Youth between the ages of 8 through 18 may show intact males. It is recommended that youth under 8 years of age not show intact males and youth between the ages of 8 to 12 years not show intact males over 24 months of age. Handler attire should be conservative, neat and appropriate for the class. Shoes should be appropriate for the show ring (open toed shoes, sandals and bare feet will disqualify the exhibitor). Suggested attire is dark pants or skirt and white shirt or blouse. For this show we encourage you to express the Christmas theme with a red, green or white shirt or blouse we would like you to be festive and comfortable! Exhibitors shall not knowingly exhibit animals in any ILR class, which, in their opinion, exhibit unsoundness. Exhibitors are responsible for following the progress of the show and shall be at ringside ten minutes before their class is called. There will be a loudspeaker that runs throughout the fairgrounds, so please listen for your classes. An exhibitor shall not knowingly show where there is a conflict of interest with the Judge. The burden of responsibility is with the owner, exhibitor or trainer to recognize a conflict of interest. Age Division Descriptions: Juvenile: 5 months up to less than 12 months. Yearling: 12 through less than 24 months. Two-Year Old: 24 months through less than 36 months. 5 females. There are no sex or wool divisions. Rule: a registration or veterinarian certificate verifying status must accompany these llamas. Age Divisions: same as other halter classes but no juvenile class is available and these llamas will not be included in the best of show male/female competition. FLEECE SHOW SHORN FLEECE AND FLEECE-ON FLEECE This is a double point fleece show. More information is provided in a separate packet. Shorn fleece must have a separate entry tag. Color champions will be awarded in both shorn and fleece-on for white/beige, fawn, gray, brown, black and fancy/multi. COMPOSITE (Halter + Fleece-on). Results will be posted online and ribbons mailed or delivered at a future event. FINISHED PRODUCTS descriptions are on the class list. We encourage all exhibitors to mail both shorn fleeces and finished products to the superintendent. Every mailed entry that is received by mail by June 1 will be entered in a drawing for a $75.00 gift certificate from Llama Hardware. We have 2 gift certificates to give away and the more you mail in the more entries you will have for the drawings. Entry forms and fees are to be mailed with fleece entry. Aside from being entered in the drawings, our fleece show is so big that it would really help us avoid the Sunday afternoon bottleneck by having our exhibitors mail in shorn fleeces, finished products and photos so that everyone can have their items judged and leave in a timely manner Sunday afternoon. Thank you for your consideration. PERFORMANCE CLASSES Obstacle, Public Relations and Pack Classes: The purpose of these classes is to demonstrate the well-trained animal s obedience and willingness to complete the activities requested by the handler. Youth will be allowed to enter Open classes. However, the same animal will NOT be allowed to show in both a Youth Class and an Open class. Llamas are to be entered in the division for which they are eligible at the time of the show. Halter class rules also apply. Classes are open to any llama five months of age or over, except if otherwise specified in the class requirements. A llama may be entered in only one division of the respective class. It is the exhibitors responsibility to enter the correct division. Alpacas may be entered and compete in the performance and Showmanship classes with the llamas. Llamas must make an attempt at each obstacle, otherwise it will be counted as off course. In adult classes, llamas must make only one attempt at each obstacle. If obstacle is not completed, they will be judged accordingly and then go on to the next obstacle. A llama or handler going off-course cannot place over an animal that completed the course. Coaching from the sidelines by spectators is discouraged and may compromise the exhibitor s scoring. After

6 refusals at three obstacles, it will then be mandatory for the Judge to dismiss the exhibitor from the course. This procedure is not to be used in Youth classes without prior agreement of show management and explanation to the exhibitors. In obstacle classes, it is at the Judge s discretion whether the handler must negotiate the obstacles. Only voice and hand commands may be used in exhibiting animals. No written notes may be used in performance classes. Exhibitors may request the Judge provide a review of their individual score cards. Scorecards may not be reviewed without the permission of the Judge. All score sheets should remain the property of the Judge and only interpreted by the Judge with exhibitors on an individual basis. Showmanship Classes: A Showmanship class is a demonstration of the handler s ability to show his/her animal to its best advantage at halter. Judging is based on the exhibitor s basic skills in fitting, grooming, following directions, and style of presenting the animal to the Judge for evaluation. The animal s conformation is not to be considered. Handler s attire should be neat, clean, and appropriate for the class. YOUTH CLASSES: Age Categories (youth s age is based on their age on January 1 st, 2011): Junior: 7 years through 11 years Intermediate: 12 years through 15 years Senior: 16 years thru 18 years All youth ages 7 through 18, as of January 1 of the calendar year, may show in the following classes. Pre-Delta Society Therapy Testing: Here is your chance to see if your llama or alpaca has what it takes for therapy work. Niki Kuklenski wrote the criteria for camelids for Delta Society Pet Therapy Niki will put your animal through a mock test of what is done when you test for therapy work. Scheduled for Friday night right before dinner (about 5:30pm)! LLAMA PHOTO CONTEST *NEW* THIS YEAR. For youth and adult photographers. Photography entries must be a photo taken by and entered by an adult or youth member of ILR and entered in the appropriate class. All photos must be 4 x 6 size. All photos must be mounted in a mat. No frames! Youth photos are entered by age. All adult photos must relate to the theme of the class in which they are entered (Spring, Summer, Fall or Winter). Only one entry per category is permitted by each entrant. Each photo must have an entry tag attached to the back of the entry. All entries will be on display throughout the Show. Judging will take place Saturday evening. Winners of the competition will be announced ASAP after the judging. Preference is that entries are mailed in to superintendent by June 1. Ribbons will be awarded for first through sixth place in each class and Best of Shows will be awarded as noted in the class list. SHOW SUGGESTIONS: Both handler and animal should be neatly groomed and attired. When in the show ring, do not talk with ring personnel or other handlers unless required. Concentrate on showing your animal to its best ability. Your animal can be more easily evaluated if it leads well and stands quietly. Encourage your animal to defecate before entering the ring. Watch closely for instructions from the Ring Steward or Judge. Be ready to show your animal s number to the Ring Steward or Judge when necessary. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS: This show is put on by a group formed by the following llama owners:
