3 OUR VENUE SPOT ON in Blackstock, Ontario, Canada Print Pag e About Spot On Spot On is a training facility located in Blackstock, Ontario, about 25 minutes north of the 401 at Whitby. With two full rings of regulation equipment and acres of play space, Spot On offers agility enthusiasts a state-ofthe-art outdoor training and trialing experience. In order to help make everyone's visit a pleasant one, please observe a few simple rules: 1. Dogs must be on a leash at all times except when competing 2. Please clean up after your dog. Enough said. 3. Please clean up after yourself. Dispose of waste and cigarette butts in the appropriate containers. 4. Please do your best to keep barking to a minimum. I like my neighbours and want to keep them happy. 5. Drive very slowly (max 10 km/h) and carefully while on the property. 6. Leave choke chains and prong collars at home. 7. Leave bitches in heat at home. Recommended Roads leading to Spot On 2830 Regional Rd 19 (Shirley Road), Blackstock, Ontario From the 401, west of Whitby/Oshawa: Take the 401 to Pickering and exit at Brock Road (not Brock Street, which is farther east). Head north on Brock Road to Highway 7 (9.5 km). Turn right on Highway 7 and go 13 km. At this point, Highway 7 joins Highway 12 and heads north. Ignore this, and carry on along the same road (that is, go straight through the intersection onto what becomes Winchester Road). Stay on Winchester through the village of Brooklin and continue until you reach Simcoe Street, 5 km from the junction of 7 & 12. (Put more simply: stay on the same road, going straight through all 3

4 Intersections, for 18 km from the intersection of Brock Road and Hwy 7 until you reach Simcoe Street.) Turn left on Simcoe Street, and head North 9.5 km to Regional Road 19, also known as Shirley Road. (The turn is shortly after a large, winding hill. There is a small commuter parking lot at the corner of Simcoe and Shirley Road, as well as signs to Dreamcrest Equestrian Centre.) Turn right on Shirley Road and follow it to the first stop sign (3.5 km). Turn left at the stop sign, go 0.6 km, then follow the road's curve to the right. After the curve, go 2.4 km along Shirley Road. When you see the blue camel (honest!) at the top of the hill, you're almost there. You'll find Spot On on the right, just past Breezy Acres Farm and its four large silos. From the 401, east of Whitby/Oshawa: Take the exit for Waverley/Regional Road 57 (exit 431), and head north 23 km on 57 to Shirley Road/Regional Road 19. Turn left, and go 4.2 km along Shirley Road. At the top of the hill on the left is a small hall with an orange roof. The next driveway on the left leads to Spot On. From the 407: If you don't mind paying the toll, the 407 offers an easy route to the site. Take the 407 all the way to its easternmost point (Brock Road). At the end of the 407, the road becomes Highway 7. Carry on through the intersection, and go 13 km on Highway 7. (Put more simply: stay on the same road, going straight through all intersections, for 18 km from the end of the 407 until you reach Simcoe Street.) Turn left on Simcoe Street, and head north 9.5 km to Regional Road 19, also known as Shirley Road. From the northwest/404: Take Hwy 7/12 to Hwy 7A. Head east on 7A through Port Perry, over the south end of Lake Scugog and past Island Road and its many signs pointing to the Great Blue Heron Casino. Stay on 7A until you reach Cartwright West 1/4 Line (not on the map). (If you reach the stoplight at Regional Rd 57, you've gone too far.) Turn right on the West 1/4 Line. Go 4.1 km to the first stop sign, and turn right onto Shirley Road. Go 1 km up the hill. At the top of the hill on the left is a small hall with an orange roof. The next driveway on the left leads to Spot On. From the northeast/peterborough/lindsay: Make your way to Hwy 7A and head west past the stop light at Regional Road 57/Old Scugog Road. Continue along 7A (2.5 km past the stop light) to Cartwright West 1/4 Line (not on the map). Turn left (south) on the West 1/4 Line. Where stated that a JRTCC Trial Certificate must be provided for any Championship Certificate class, a JRTCA Trial Certificate or an AWTA Certificate of Gameness may be submitted, as may be qualifying score sheets for other Go To Ground classes. 4. Schooling prior to the competition is NOT permitted. Any violation of this rule shall result in disqualification of the schooled terrier from Go To Ground competition at this trial. No entry fees will be refunded. 5. Any terrier that will be used for Child and/or Junior Handler GTG classes must first complete any GTG class into which it may be entered at this trial, including any Novice to Open moveup. 6. Prior to the event, exhibitors are responsible for collecting any score sheets for their terriers at the registration area, for completing the pertinent information and, at the time of the competition, for taking them to the Den Steward for scoring by the Judge. 7. Exhibitors should examine the score sheets carefully as they contain important information regarding the requirements, specifications and judging criteria of each class. 8. Puppies holding a 100% Open Puppy or prior 100% Puppy Championship score sheet may compete in the Puppy Championship class, which determines the Puppy Champion and Reserve for the trial. Only adult terriers holding a JRTCC TRIAL CERTIFICATE may compete in the Championship Certificate classes, which determine the GTG Champions and Reserves for the trial. 9. A puppy that has competed in the Puppy Championship class must enter that class at trials until it turns one year old. A terrier issued a JRTCC Trial Certificate must always compete in the Championship Certificate class. Cross entering in Go To Ground is not permitted. 10. With no exceptions, to be submitted with entries or provided to the Den Steward at the time of judging for: Puppy Championship class a copy of the 100% Open Puppy or prior 100% Puppy Championship score sheet; Adult Championship Certificate classes a JRTCC Trial Certificate. 11. Note that there will be no move-ups from Open to either of Puppy Championship or Championship Certificate classes at this trial. 12. A registered/recorded adult terrier that has previously scored 100% in the Open class at a JRTCC trial, may compete in Open GTG indefinitely, or until such time as a JRTCC Trial Certificate has been requested by the owner and issued by the Judges Committee. As well, an unregistered puppy (under one year) may compete in Open Puppy GTG indefinitely. 13. A puppy that has passed the Open Puppy and/or Puppy Championship class must, upon turning one year of age, be entered into the Open Adult GTG class unless, or until such time as, the terrier has been registered/recorded with the JRTCC and the 100% Open or Championship score sheet submitted to the JRTCC Judges Committee to be issued a JRTCC Trial Certificate. 18

19 14. Terriers which have previously scored 100% in a Puppy or Adult Novice class at a JRTCC trial may not, under any circumstances, compete in a Novice class again at any JRTCC sanctioned trial. 15. Exhibitors should read the complete Go To Ground Rules posted at the event site. 16. The starting line shall be placed two feet from the entrance hole. Timing starts when the terrier is released by the handler. The terrier is to be released so that all four feet are on the ground before crossing the starting line. The terrier may not be pushed or thrown toward the hole. Any violation of this rule, accidental or intentional, shall result in disqualification of the terrier from the class in which the violation occurs. No entry fees will be refunded. 17. After the terrier is released, the handler shall remain next to the entrance hole. Commands and encouragement may be given. The handler shall wait for the signal from the Judge before proceeding to the terrier s location. 18. It is the exhibitor s responsibility to collect the completed/signed score sheet from the Judge before leaving with the terrier. 19. If at any time during a GTG run the equipment fails, the terrier will be allowed a re-run at the end of the GTG event, after all other terriers have completed the GTG class.
