4 Specialty Trophy and General Specialty Fund Trophy sponsorship and general donations are the lifeblood of any successful specialty. Your generosity helps us hold these very unique events. We have a wide variety of trophies available for sponsorship, as well as the general fund to help offset the rest of the costs. 10 PHCA 2013 National Specialty TRIATHLON COMPETITION In celebration of the amazing versatility of our hounds, we are happy to offer a Pharaoh Hound Triathlon as part of the 2013 PHCA National Specialty. The three events are lure coursing, performance, and conformation. Triathlon competitors will enter and compete in the PHCA AKC and/or ASFA Lure Coursing Trial, one or more of the performance events (Agility, Rally, or Obedience), and a special Triathlon conformation class. Ribbons and trophies will be awarded at the Banquet the evening of September 14. We encourage all Pharaoh Hound owners to aspire to owning versatile hounds. The competition is open to spayed and neutered Pharaoh Hounds. If you have never shown in conformation, don t let that scare you away! You are welcome to ask a friend to show your dog for you at the conformation event. Or just do it yourself; the judges will know to get gentle! The same applies if you are an overachiever and enter more than one Pharaoh. But, please, keeping to the spirit of the competition, no professional handlers! WE RE THRILLED TO ANNOUNCE THAT JODI LEWIS IS CREATING AND DONATING ONE OF HER AMAZING QUILTS AS THE TRIATHLON TROPHY! We will use scores earned on designated National Specialty Event days: Obedience, Rally, and Agility on Wednesday. Lure coursing on Thursday. And the conformation match will be right after BOB and photos on Friday. If, at the completion of the conformation match, we have any ties for 1st through 4th place, the tie breakers will be the performance scores. In the performance events, to be eligible for the triathlon, dogs must be entered at the level in which they are currently competing in AKC. If you have earned a title, you must compete in the higher level. A dog may enter any or all of the performance and lure coursing events. If a dog is entered in multiple performance events, their highest score from the events will be used in the Triathlon scoring. Scoring: Scores will be based on a scale of 200; so a perfect score would be 600 points. o Conformation - The judges will award each dog a score up to 100 points. Depending on number of judges, the score will be adjusted to a 200 scale. o Rally - Score will be doubled. o Obedience - Score is already based on 200. o Agility - Must compete in jumpers and standard. The two scores will be totaled. o Coursing - Preliminary and final run scores will be totaled then divided by 2. Qualifying scores are not required to be scored for the Triathlon. Running totals will be available to view during the events. Any PH excused or disqualified from an event will receive 0 points for that event. Entry Process: To enter the Triathlon, you must complete regular entries for lure coursing and performance events (obedience, rally, and/or agility). Complete and return the Triathlon entry form, which will also be the entry form for the Triathlon conformation class. Triathlon entry fee is $10 per dog - this covers the conformation class and overall Triathlon entry.

Even those who can t attend this year can make sure we remember your remarkable hound.
