If you are coming from e Sou on e Ventura Freeway, take e California Street off ramp. Go left on California Street, cross over e freeway to Harbor. Then go right on Harbor to e Fair Grounds. DAY PARKING: Seaside Park will collect a fee of $5.00 per car and parking will be in designated lots only. A controlled loading zone is provided; vehicles must be removed promptly. Lights must be left on and keys in e ignition while vehicle is in e loading zone. CLEAN UP IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY - Equipment will be placed around e show grounds and outside e show rings. If your dog soils e parking lot, show grounds or a ring, it is your responsibility to clean it up. BEST OF BREED COMPETITION The following categories of dogs may be entered in is competition: Dogs at are Champions of Record. Dogs which according to eir owners' records have completed e requirements for a championship but whose championships are unconfirmed. The showing of dogs whose championships are unconfirmed is lim ited to a period of 90 days from e date of show where a dog completed e requirements for a championship according to e owners' records. NON-REGULAR CLASSES INVOLVING MULTIPLE DOG ENTRIES *STUD DOG CLASS - For Stud Dogs and two Get. It is not necessary at e Get be under e same ownership as at of e Stud Dog. The Stud Dog may be entered separately in one of e regular classes. Or if a Champion of Record, in e Best of Breed Competition, but MUST be entered in e Stud Dog Class, e Get MUST be entered in one of e regular classes. The Stud Dog shall be considered as one entry and requires one entry fee. The Stud Dog must be shown in e ring wi e Get. The class will be judged on e merits of e Get. *BROOD BITCH CLASS - Same as for e Stud Dog Class except substitute Brood Bitch for Stud Dog and Produce for Get. *Chapter 11, Section 8 of e Rules Applying to Dog Shows provides at a castrated male may be entered as a Stud Dog in e Stud Dog Class and a spayed bitch may be entered as a Brood Bitch in e Brood Bitch Class. BRACE CLASS - A brace is defined as two dogs of e same recognized breed at are sim ilar in appearance, performing in unison, and presented by a maximum of two handlers. Bo dogs competing in brace competition must have at least one common owner. The entry form for each dog entered as part of a brace MUST be marked accordingly in e space for Additional Classes - Brace Class. TEAM CLASS - A team is defined as four dogs of e same recognized breed at are similar in appearance, performing in unison, and presented by a maximum of four handlers. All dogs competing in team competition must have at least one common owner. A token trophy will be offered by SCSC. BEST OF OPPOSITE SEX TO BEST OF BREED - Members of SCSC offer a challenge trophy. For permanent possession, e trophy must be won ree times by e exact same owner(s), not necessarily wi e same dog nor at consecutive shows. The trophy is a Silver-Plated Candelabra. It will be adorned wi a brass plate on which e year, dog s name and owner s name are to be engraved. It is to remain in e possession of e Club until it is retired. A Candle Holder will be offered by SCSC as a token trophy. BEST VETERAN BITCH The Gerry Englemark Memorial Challenge trophy, Ken & Vicki Marks, Kay Navarrete and Karen W ard offer rough e Schipperke Club of Souern California a Lucite/Glass piece etched wi a Schipperke and an orchid sitting on a blue marble base. The winning dog s name, e year and e owner s name will be added to e trophy each year. 8 JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP COMPETITION NOVICE CLASS: This shall be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on e day of e show and who at e time entries close have not won ree (3) first place awards, wi competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. OPEN CLASS: This class shall be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on e day of e show, and who have won ree first place awards in a Novice Class in a licensed or member show, wi competition present. The winner of a Novice Class shall automatically become eligible, upon notice to e Open Class ring steward, to enter and compete in e Open Class at e same show provided e win is e ird (3rd) first place award wi competition and furer providing ere are one or more Junior Handlers competing in e Open Class. MASTER CLASS: This class will be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years on e day of e show, and who have won e 10 first place wins in an Open class wi competition to be eligible to enter e Limited Class Competition. The calendar for is class will be November 1 - October 31 of e following year. All Juniors meeting e criteria for is class are required to enter e Master Class and may change eir entry e day of e show if entries have already closed. Once e eligibility time frame for at year has passed all participants return to e Open Class to complete for e following year. Each dog handled in a regular Junior Showmanship Class must be entered in one of e Breed or Obedience Classes at e show, or must be entered for Junior Showmanship only. However, a dog may be substituted. Such substitution must be accompanied by an official AKC entry form. All such substitution must be made one half-hour prior to e judging of any Junior Showmanship Classes at e show. Each dog must be owned or co-owned by e Junior Handler or by e Junior Handler s faer, moer, broer, sister, uncle, aunt, grandfaer, grandmoer, including step and half relations or by a member of e Junior Handler s household. Every dog entered for Junior Showmanship must be eligible to compete in AKC Dog Shows or Obedience Trials. Bitches in season are not eligible to compete. Junior Handlers who win a ird Novice Class, wi competition present, after e closing of entries for a show may transfer eir entry from e Novice Class to e Open Class provided at is transfer is made by e Superintendent or Event Secretary at least one half-hour prior to e scheduled start of any regular conformation judging or one half-hour prior to e start of Junior Showmanship judging at e show, whichever is earlier. W inning of first place in an Open Class at is show may qualify or count toward qualification for entry in certain future limited Junior Showmanship Classes. For information on eligibility requirements for limited Junior Showmanship Classes, which have been approved to date by AKC, write to e American Kennel Club, Show Plans, 5580 Centerview Dr., Suite 200, Raleigh, NC Junior Handlers must include eir AKC Junior Handler Identification number on e entry blank. A dog must be entered in e name of e person who actually owned it at e time entries for an event closed. If a registered dog has been acquired by a new owner it must be entered in e name of its new owner in any event for which entries closed after e date of acquirement, regardless of wheer e new owner has received e registration certificate indicating at e dog is recorded in his/her name.
