3 NOTICE TO EXHIBITORS 1. Entries must reach the Show Secretary, Lea Plaut, Paradise Mtn. Road, Valley Center, CA :00 PM, PT, Wednesday, March 27, Fees should accompany entries. The Club and the Show Secretary assume no responsibility for wrong or incomplete information given on the entry blank by the owner or agent of the owner. The Club and the Show Secretary assume no responsibility for the owner or owner s agent entering a dog in a class in which the dog is not eligible to compete, or for entering the same dog twice. 2. Returned checks do not constitute a valid entry fee. The CLUB will add a collection fee to the amount of each returned check. Subsequent returned checks for the same exhibitors may result in their being put on a CASH ONLY basis. The returned check MUST BE MADE GOOD by cash or money order BEFORE the dog will be allowed in the ring. 3. Exhibitors confirmations and judging programs will be mailed to the address given on the entry blank. If not received within a reasonable time prior to the show, notify the Show Secretary. Confirmations returned by the Post Office marked Undeliverable will be held at the Show Secretary s office. PLEASE BRING YOUR CONFIRMATIONS TO THE SHOW. 4. During the hours of judging owners are to be on call, and have their dogs ready to bring into the judging ring promptly in order that judging will not be delayed. Dogs need only be present for their judging. Dogs not needed for further judging may be excused. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to have his dog ready to be shown and at the entrance of the judging ring when the steward calls for the class. Owner of dogs or the handlers of the dogs alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging rings. This means it is not the responsibility of the ring steward, nor of any agent of the show-giving club to locate any dog, it s owner or handler, when the dog s presence is needed in a judging ring. It should be understood by every exhibitor and handler that waiting for dogs to be brought into the ring is a courtesy extended to the owner or handler of the dog. There is no rule of these clubs nor the American Kennel Club that requires a judge to wait for an owner or handler t o bring his dog into the ring. Show hours 6 AM to 8 PM. 5. Trophies and prizes will be awarded in the judging ring by completion of the breed and the show secretaries office advised at once, in the event of any discrepancy. All trophies must be claimed the day of the show. None will be mailed. 6. Exhibitors are admonished to make themselves familiar with the agreement of the American Kennel Club, referred to on the reverse side of the entry blanks that accompany the premium list. Rule books may be obtained from A.K.C., online at 7. The Club, the Show Secretary or the members or employees will not be responsible for the loss of or damage to any dog exhibited, whether the result of accident or other causes and in addition assumes no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury sustained by an exhibitor/owner or handler. It is distinctly understood that every dog at this show is in the care and custody and control of his owner or handler/agent during the entire time the dog is on the show premises. 8. No grooming tables, pens or exhibitors setups will be allowed in the aisles and all grooming must be done at least 20 ft. away from the judging ring in areas specified by the club. 9. Entry fees shall NOT be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, sick, lame, excused by veterinarian or judge, barred from competition by action of the Event Committee, or because the dog is ineligible to compete due to being entered incorrectly. There is no refund of entry fees for duplicate entry. 10. Only dogs that are eligible to compete to be allowed on the grounds. 11. The Orange Coast Rhodesian Ridgeback Club, may decline any entries for cause and may refuse to receive or may remove any dog on account of disease, viciousness or other causes, and no one shall have any claim or recourse against the Club or any official thereof. 12. If, because of riots, civil disturbances or other acts beyond the control of the management, it is impossible to open or complete the show, no refund of entry will be made. 13. Do not leave any dogs in closed vehicles. 14. A recording fee of 50 cents per dog and an event service fee of $3.00 per entry will be required for each dog entered at any Licensed or Member Club Show. These fees are to be collected by the Show-giving Club and paid to the American Kennel Club. (American Kennel Club Rule, Chapter 11, Section 2.) 15. Dogs which according to their owners records have completed the requirements for a championship after the closing of entries for the show but whose championships are unconfirmed, may be transferred from one of the regular classes to the Best of Breed Competition, provided this transfer is made by the Show Secretary at least one half hour prior to the start of the earliest Confirmation judging at the show. 16. Junior Handlers who win a third Novice Class after the Closing of entries for a show after the closing of entries for a show are required to transfer their entry from the Novice Class to the Open Class by notifying the Event Secretary at least one half-hour prior to the scheduled start of the earliest conformation judging or one half-hour prior to the scheduled start of Junior Showmanship judging at the Show, whichever is earlier All persons attending this event hereby waive any claim for damages against the Club, or its, members, in the event a motor vehicle has to be entered to rescue a dog from overheating or improperly vented conditions. 18. All vehicles parked in VIP Parking Area without VIP Pass will be ticketed and fined. 19. Parents and/or Guardians are responsible for the actions of their children. Outside of the ring, the dog is to be controlled by the adult accompanying the child. An additional lead, provided by the Club, will be at the Judge s table. At the Judge s discretion based upon the size of the child and the dog, for safety purposes the adult may be asked to attach a second lead to the dog so both child and adult will walk the dog together. PARKING INFORMATION DAY OF SHOW PARKING: $8.00 per day. OVERSIZED VEHICLES: $14.00 per day. GATES OPEN: NO access on Wednesday. Thursday access at Noon. Friday, Saturday and Sunday gates open at 6:00 am. In and Out vehicle privileges will be allowed. There will be an Unloading Zone in the Overnight Parking Area OVERNIGHT PARKING LIMITED TO 35 UNITS There will be an Unloading Zone in the Overnight Parking Area. Parking is solely at the applicant s own risk. The applicant by submitting this application waives any and all claims and causes of action against Western Hound Association of Southern California, Inc., all Hound specialty clubs, Oak Canyon Park, James Event Productions and its employees, agents, volunteers related to loss of, or damage to the vehicle, fire, theft or loss of personal property, loss or injury to the animals in applicant s charge while on show grounds or parking area. All outdoor cooking (barbeques and hibachis) must be set up in cleared areas only. They must be attended at all times, and completely extinguished following usage. No alcohol permitted on the show grounds. Alcoholic Beverages Show Grounds Policy: Persons attending the Event shall not bring any alcoholic beverages to the Event. Specialties shall not serve or permit any alcoholic to be consumed at their event. Specialties shall ensure that during the Event no minors or any people are intoxicated or in a condition in which they should not be consuming alcohol and shall cooperate and ensuring that such people do not consume any alcohol on the premises where this event is held. No smoking will be allowed under the Hound Classic Tents. No exercise pens or crates allowed under the judging tents, aisles or pop -ups at ringside ropes. No generators will be permitted on the grass or near the rings. GROUNDS & SET UP INFORMATION Our beautiful show site has plenty of tree-shaded areas on the perimeter of the park. WE RECOMMEND ALL EXHIBITORS BRING THEIR OWN PERSONAL POP-UP TENTS. There will be designated areas for setup. Mats will be allowed on the grass at this park. No personal golf carts on the show grounds. OCRRC will retain possession of all Challenge Trophies until permanently retired. Special Breed Prizes Best of Breed: The Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of the United States Bronze Club Medallion will be awarded to the Best of Breed winner providing that the number of dogs in competition is either: a) 10 Ridgebacks or, b) the combined total number of dogs required in competition, according to the AKC, for a 3-point major in both sexes, in that region, whichever is greater. Novice. This shall be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show and who at the time entries close have not won three (3) first place awards, with competition present, in a Novice Class. A first place in Novice without competition leading to a Best Junior award with competition would count as one win towards moving to Open at a licensed or member show. Junior Handlers who win a third Novice Class with competition, if a win in Novice leads to a Best Junior with competition present it will count as one win towards moving to Open, after the closing of entries for a show are required to transfer their entry from the Novice Class to the Open Class by notifying the Superintendent or Show Secretary at least one-half hour prior to the scheduled start of Junior Showmanship judging at the show. Open. Open. This class shall be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show, and who have won three first place awards in a Novice Class or if a win in Novice leads to a Best Junior with competition present it will count as one win towards moving to Open in a licensed or member show. Master. This class will be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years on the day of the show, and who have won 10 Best Junior wins with competition from the Open Class. The calendar for this class will be consistent with the eligibility dates for the AKC National Championship. All Juniors Meeting the criteria for this class are required to enter the Master Class and may change their entry the day of the show if entries have already closed. Once the eligibility time frame for that year has passed all participants return to the Open Class to compete for the following year. Junior Handlers must put their Junior Handler s number on the entry blank. To obtain a Junior Handler number, call the American Kennel Club (919) or at juniors@akc.org. Notice: Be sure all information for Junior Showmanship Classes is entered on the front and back of the entry form. A dog that has been rejected, dismissed, or excused by the Veterinarian for the protection of the other dogs at the show or for the protection of the dog excused may not be handled in Junior Showmanship. Junior Handlers who win a third Novice Class with competition present after the closing of entries for a show may transfer their entry from the Novice Class to the Open Class provided that this transfer is made by the Superintendent at least one half-hour prior to the scheduled start of any regular conformation judging or one half-hour prior to the scheduled start of Junior Showmanship judging at the show, whichever is earlier. Winning of first place in an Open Class at this show may qualify or count toward qualification for entry in certain future limited Junior Showmanship Classes. If, at the end of the 90 day period, the championship of a dog has not been confirmed by AKC, no further entries of the dog for Best of Breed competition are to be made until its championship has been confirmed by AKC. GRAND CHAMPION SELECT When quality warrants, after Best of Breed and Best of Opposite Sex are awarded, a Select Dog (SD) and Select Bitch (SB) may be chosen from the remaining Champions (Non Regular Class winners that are Champions and Qualify for BOB are eligible) - (WD or WB are not eligible) (AKC Dog Show Rules, Chapter 3, Section 14, Effective ) AWARDS OF MERIT The judge, at his/her discretion, may choose up to three (3) of the Best of Breed Entries to receive an Award of Merit (excluding the Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex, Select Dog and Select Bitch winners). An Award of Merit acknowledges those Ridgebacks exhibiting qualities that the judge feels exemplify an exceptional specimen of the breed. AMATEUR OWNER HANDLER CLASS ELIGIBILITY For non-champion dogs at least 6 months of age. Dogs must be handled in the class by the registered owner of the dog. Entry is limited to exhibitors who have never been a professional handler, an AKC-approved conformation judge, or employed as an assistant to a professional handler. Additionally, members of the immediate family or household of a current professional handler are ineligible for this class (as defined in Chapter 11, Section 13 of the AKC Dog Show Rules). Professional handlers are defined as any person who belongs to a professional handlers organization, distributes rate cards, or otherwise advertise or represent themselves as handling dogs for pay. BRED BY EXHIBITOR CLASS ELIGIBILITY All dogs entered in the Bred-By Exhibitor Class must be individually registered with the AKC. The person handling the dog must be a breeder of record of the dog and an owner of record of the dog. Family members must be both a breeder and owner of record to exhibit in the class. NON-REGULAR CLASSES INVOLVING SINGLE DOG ENTRIES NOTE: Winners from these classes are eligible, if undefeated in another class for Best of Breed Competition. *Veteran Dog Class *Veteran Bitch Class A class for dogs and a class for bitches that are 7 years of age or older. *Chapter 11, Section 8: of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows provides that a neutered male may be entered as a Veteran Dog in the Veteran Dog Class and a spayed bitch may be entered as a Veteran Bitch in the Veteran Bitch Class. NON-REGULAR CLASSES INVOLVING MULTIPLE DOG ENTRIES NOTE: As the judges' decision in these classes will be based on the merits of more than one dog or bitch, no one of the dogs or bitches making up the entry judged first in the class will be eligible to compete for Best of Breed by virtue of having won any of these classes. * STUD DOG CLASS - For Stud Dogs and two of their Get. It is not necessary that the Get be under the same ownership as that of the Stud Dog. The Stud Dog may be entered separately in one of the regular classes, or if a Champion of Record, in the Best of Breed Competition, but MUST be entered in the Stud Dog Class. The Get MUST be entered in one of the regular conformation classes or for Best of Breed Competition. No Stud Dog or his Get may be shown as a part of another unit. In consideration of the acceptance of this entry and of the holding of the show or obedience trial and of the opportunity to have the dog judged and to win prize money, ribbons, or trophies, I (we) agree to hold this club, its members, directors, governors, officers, agents, superintendents or show secretary and the owners or lessor of the premises and any employees of the aforementioned parties, harmless from any claims for loss or injury which may be alleged to have been caused directly or indirectly to any person or thing by the act of this dog while in or upon the show or obedience trial premises or grounds or near any entrance thereto, and I (we) personally assume all responsibility and liability for any such claim; and I (we) further agree to hold the aforementioned parties harmless from any claim for loss of this dog by disappearance, theft, death or otherwise, and from any claim for damage or injury to the dog, whether such loss, disappearance, theft, damage or injury, be caused or alleged to be caused by the negligence of the club or any of the parties aforementioned, or by the negligence of any other person, or any other cause or causes. I (we) hereby assume the sole responsibility for and agree to indemnify and save the aforementioned parties harmless from any and all loss and expense (including legal fees) by reason of the liability imposed by law upon any of the aforementioned parties for damage because of bodily injuries, including death at any time resulting therefrom, sustained by any person or persons, including myself (ourselves), or on account of damage to property, arising out of or in consequence of my (our) participation in this show or obedience trial, howsoever such injuries death or damage to property may be caused, and whether or not the same may have been caused or may be alleged to have been caused by negligence of the aforementioned parties or any of their employees or agents, or any other persons. Dogs that are owned or co-owned by a professional handler may compete in this class, but must be handled by a non-professional handler. Professional handlers are defined as any person who belongs or has belonged to a professional handlers' organization, distributed rate cards, or otherwise advertised or represented themselves as handling dogs for pay within the last five years. Dogs may not be exhibited by current assistants or household members of a professional handler. A current assistant is defined as anyone employed by a professional handler on a full-time basis, or, assisting a professional handler at the show or any show during the cluster/weekend.
