3 PRESIDENT S MESSAGE Hello Shetland Sheepdog Friends: 2018 Another Speciality and at this beautiful location, what more could we ask for! This is always a great day for the winners of each class, the puppy sweeps or veteran s class, and of course who could forget Best of Breed. And we can't forget the renewal of old friendships or the making of new ones. All the hard work that goes into the breeding programs, the training, the grooming, the travel to dog shows, late nights, early mornings, bad coffee, bad food, the heat or the cold, (I am sure you could add more) you are all here today to try and take home a ribbon or two! But each and every one of us do this because we love the breed and are here today to celebrate with each other. To the winners I congratulate you! 8 SWEEPSTAKES - Saturday, June 16 th 2018 Preceding Regular Conformation Classes Judge: Valerie Marshal Juvenile Sweepstakes Juvenile Sweepstakes is open to all Shetland Sheepdog puppies three months and under eighteen months of age regardless of place of birth. All dogs must be entered in one of the regular official classes on the same day. Dogs will be judged in one of the following classes (divided by sex): Baby Puppy - 3 months and under 6 months Junior Puppy - 6 months and under 9 months Senior Puppy - 9 months and under 12 months Juvenile Puppy - 12 months and under 18 months For final judging the first place puppy from each of the classes will be brought together for the final judging of Best in Sweepstakes. Best in Sweepstakes - rosette & 15% of total fees collected for the Juvenile Sweepstakes Runner Up in Sweepstakes - rosette & 10% of total fees collected for the Juvenile Sweepstakes First in Class - 20% of class fees and a rosette Second in Class - 15% of class fees and a flat ribbon Third in Class - 10% of class fees and a flat ribbon Fourth in Class - 5% of class fees and a flat ribbon 25% of fees collected will be retained by the club to defray costs ********************************************************************************************************** Veteran Sweepstakes Judge: Valerie Marshal ~ following the judging of the Juvenile Sweepstakes Veteran Sweepstakes is open to all Shetland Sheepdogs 7 years of age and over and entered in a regular class or for exhibition only on the same day. Spayed and neutered dogs may compete provided they are also entered in exhibition only. 14 CANADIAN KENNEL CLUB SCHEDULE OF CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS SECTION 2. The schedule to be employed in the determination of the number of points to be allocated to a dog awarded WINNERS shall be as follows: (*Includes the dog awarded Winners.) Dogs Competing* to 5 6 to 9 10 to or more Points Allocated* To determine the number of championship points earned by a dog awarded Winners, total all the dogs in competition which the dog defeated, directly or indirectly, for the highest of the following official breed awards: Winners, Best of Winners, Best of Breed or Best of Opposite Sex and then consult the schedule set forth above. A dog that is disqualified, dismissed, excused or ordered from the ring by the judge shall not be included in the calculation for championship points. Further section {C} has been added and states the dog must: have earned at least one 2 point win either at the breed level or group level. The system provides for additional points if a dog awarded winners also places in the Group as listed here under. In no case may a dog earn more than five (5) points at a single show. To earn a Canadian Championship, a dog must earn at least ten championship points under at least three different judges; and be individually registered with the Canadian Kennel Club, or have a CKC Event Registration Number (ERN).
