GPO Box 1421, ADELAIDE SA 5001 Any Club member, or any person guilty of unseemly conduct or acts harmful to the club, may be asked to leave the Training area. They may also be dealt with by the Committee of The GSDC of S A Inc. under clause 6, and relative by-laws of the Clubs Constitution. Any dog which is sick WILL NOT be permitted onto the Club grounds. Dogs who have suffered a CONTAGIOUS DISEASE WILL NOT be allowed on to the grounds until 5 weeks after being cleared by a veterinarian (a vets certificate may be required). Puppies should not be brought out onto the Club grounds under the age of 8 weeks or at least 2 weeks after they have been inoculated for HEPATITIS, DISTEMPER AND PARVOVIRUS ( vaccination certificate may be required). Bitches in season are not permitted on the grounds unless at a recognised Club event. The use of switches, spiked collars or whips is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN ON THE CLUB GROUNDS. Members shall not treat their dog in a manner which may reflect badly on the Club. Dogs are NOT to be taken off-lead or left unattended, except on the directives, or under the supervision of a Class Instructor. The handlers of dogs which foul the Club grounds, will be responsible for cleaning up same, with the equipment provided. The Head Instructor has the authority to permit the use of a muzzle or training devices, as required in special cases. The use of the equipment is to be under supervision, and its use on the grounds, other than above, is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN. Dogs under the age of 12 months ARE NOT permitted to use jump equipment higher than 400 mm, or longer than 800 mm. Pursuant of the Health act "Dogs" ARE NOT permitted inside the Clubrooms. In the interest of safety and health, and in consideration of others, parents are required to supervise the behaviour of their children. The Clubrooms and Toilets MUST NOT be used as playing areas. In the interests of public health the Clubrooms and the verandah area are NON-SMOKING areas. TRAINING HEAT POLICY If the forecast temperature is predicted to be 38 degrees or above on channel 9 weather at 6pm the night before training, (Wednesday nights or Sunday s), all training will be cancelled. Appropriate foot wear must be worn at ALL times when handling / double handling dogs on the Club grounds. Bare feet, thongs, slip on shoes, high heels, sandals or crocs are not suitable foot wear and members wearing any of the above will be asked to leave the training area. THANK YOU! There is still a helpers note book located at the club where you can write down your name as a helper over the three days of the show. Please see me for assistance. I would point out that in each edition of the Shepherd News, there is a calendar of events that lists all club events and non training days. I urge you all to READ this page and note in your diaries any special events that you wish to attend so as not to forget. Our club web site also has lots of information for you and event schedules. Website is Despite the pony club no longer in attendance at West Beach and with building activity, I would point out that we still must observe the reduced speed limit along our driveway. 4 From the Editor... Heidi De Luca Where is the time going? Not long until the National, a very exciting time for SA with hosting this wonderful event. I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my memorabilia. Much work has been happening behind the scenes to get ready, it takes many people to make this successful, so if you haven t already put your name down in the helpers book (located in the Shepherd Shop) and have time to help out please see Tony or Anna. Lots of activity on our website and Facebook page, we are putting things up as quickly as possible so if you notice an error please don t hesitate to contact me at tassie60@hotmail.com or see me in person, I m usually at trainings on Wednesdays and Sundays. It is a privilege to be surrounded by all the judges and surveyors who attend the meetings demonstrating great passion for the German Shepherd breed. As previously mentioned, I still believe that both judges and surveyors are the best source of knowledge that relates to the German Shepherd breed in Australia. As you are all well aware the National is just around the corner - six weeks to go and this is highly demonstrated by the attendances at show classes that are held on both Wednesday and Sunday. Once again I take this opportunity in wishing all the South Australian competitors who will be competing in the National Australia Show this year which is being held on our grounds all the best of luck - GO SA!! Ordinary Member; Any person owning or who is interested in a GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG or who is interested in exhibitions of GERMAN SHEP- HERD DOGS shall be eligible for membership. 2. Family Membership; This covers the Family including children up to 17 years of age. Once a child turns 17 years of age within the Club's Financial Year, they would then need to join as a "Ordinary Single Member" at the end of that year, no Joining fee would apply as they are coming out of the Family Membership. 3. Junior Membership; Children under 17 years of age shall be eligible for membership as junior members. A junior member shall not be entitled to vote at any meeting of the Club. 4. Honorary Membership; The Committee of the Club may confer honorary membership on any person considered worthy thereof for a period not exceeding twelve (12) months. An honorary member shall have all the rights and privileges of an ordinary member including the right to vote at meetings of the Club. 5. Pensioner Membership; Must hold a current Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card. 6. Family Pensioner Membership; Both partners must hold a current Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card. 7. A Life Member shall have all the rights and privileges of an ordinary member including the right to vote at meetings of the Club. Life Members shall, like any member pay for any publication, scheme or levy which is compulsory and or mandatory to being a member of the Club. No person shall be recommended to Life Membership unless he shall have been a member of the club for at least Ten (10) consecutive years. There seems to be some confusion over "Family Membership". If Members that have children in their "Family Membership" that are over the age of 17 years old, these children need to join as a Single Member to be able to participate as a handler etc. and be covered by the Clubs Insurance. If you have any concerns over Membership, then please don't hesitate to contact me. Also a big thank you to Debbie Mayne & Sandra Pilgrim for their very informative "Grooming Lecture" I'm sure those that attended would have learnt a few tricks when grooming their own animals. 12 PINKDAY AT THE NATIONAL The 2013 Annual General Meeting of the GSDCA following a discussion regarding how best to lift our profile and at the same time partner a national charity we decided to partner with the McGrath Foundation and hold a PINKDAY" at the 2013 National German Shepherd Dog Show & Trial on Saturday 11 May PINKDAY at the National" will see fund raising events held during the day and over the three days of the event for the McGrath Foundation. In an effort to ensure monies as raised are maximised, we ask that as a Member Club you too take on a commitment to raise funds for what we hope will be a sizable donation to be made on PINKDAY at the National". The idea was met with much enthusiasm at the AGM and with this in mind I ask that your club conducts at least one fund raising event and then matches the amount raised with an equivalent donation from the Club or makes a contribution and this amount is forwarded to the Treasurer, GSDCA before 5 May 2013 or made directly at pinkday.asp Every dollar your Club raises together with what will be raised over the National weekend will make a difference and your donation will help the McGrath Foundation place additional McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities right across Australia, and to increase breast care awareness in young Australian women. President s Youth Trophy Competition : Classes - 7 to under 10 years; 10 to under 13 years; 13 to under 18 years. Judge TBA. Entries will be taken on the day. To be held during the lunch break on Sunday. Medallions (donated by Alimanda Kennels) will be presented in the clubrooms at the conclusion of all judging on Sunday to all participants. This is a qualifying Show for the SA PRESIDENT S YOUTH TROPHY, to be presented at the end of the year. All children must have control of the animal they are exhibiting. If any child cannot solely control (hold) the animal they are exhibiting they may be asked to leave the ring. No adults will be permitted in the ring. Awards : Trophy & Sash to Best Exhibit In Show, Runner up Best Exhibit In Show, Best of Breed, Challenge Dog & Challenge Bitch of each Breed, All Class winners of each Breed. Sashes to all Best of Age in Show, places 2 nd to 6 th in each class of each Breed where numbers permit. Grading Certificates : Available on the day.
