2 STAHC is an area club of the Austin-Healey Club of America, the largest Austin-Healey club in the world. STAHC is one of 47 independent area clubs and was sanctioned by AHCA in STAHC covers the Austin, San Antonio and surrounding areas of South Texas. Membership is open to owners and enthusiasts of all cars bearing the name HEALEY. Ownership of a Healey is not required. I m sure someone will be doing a write up on the event. I cannot make the event because I will be attending the Lemans race. I will try to take pictures and Jim can share with y all next month. We will also be attending the All British car day, and hope some folks can make it out. There is something I did learn about my Healey - if you put it in just right, a shotgun will fit in the back seat. Dove season opened recently and it was too pretty of a day not to take the Healey. Went by and saw Jeff Snyder who owns Jeff s resurrection. He had to take a few pictures to show his British wife that there other uses for a Healey in Texas. beers. 6 EDITOR S RUMBLINS LAST MONTH HIGHWAY TRASH PICKUP & LAKE PARTY On a dark and stormy morning with rain all around, nine STAHC members gathered on FM 1623 just west of Blanco to pick up trash for the third time this year. With the help of the expert trash pickers pictured on page 1 and no rain in Blanco, our task was completed in an hour. After satisfying our hunger and thirst, it was down to the lake for swimming. The Adkins were attending a band concert in Round Rock so did not join us. However we were joined by David and Justine Ayer. Bonnie was is NAPA Valley sampling wine while we feasted on the delicious burgers prepared by the Borths. boating.. and just relaxing and visiting with our fellow STAHC members. Thank you Borths for another great lake party TEXAS ALL BRITISH CAR DAY The annual Texas ABCD was held in Round Rock September 26-28, with the popularity show on Sunday. DJ and Pat Stamp and Brett Miller (and possibly others) from STAHC were there. A story, with pictures, by DJ is on page 8. THIS MONTH AND BEYOND PIZZA PARTY On Sunday, October 12, the Molinas will host a Pizza Party at their home in Dripping Springs. Details for this event are on page 4. SOUTH TEXAS ALL BRITISH CAR DAY Another get together for British vehicles will take place on Saturday, October 25 at its traditional venue, the Main Plaza in Boerne. This years host is the San Antonio Jaguar Club. STAHC, along with the South Texas Triumph Association and the Alamo MG Association, will be assisting. A flyer with more information is on page 10 and a registration form is on page 11. AHCA FALL DELEGATES MEETING The AHCA Delegates meeting will take place the second weekend in November. I plan to attend representing you, the members of STAHC. Please send me your questions and concerns to jkrich@gvtc.com no later than November 4. 8 TEXAS ALL BRITISH CAR DAY Photos and text by DJ Stamp After some Mexican Breakfast at Puffy Tacos & the requisite trip to the Lone Star Bakery for some Round Rock donuts Pat & I were off to the show. Due to construction of the pavilion at Old Settlers park it was held in an area just a few blocks from downtown Round Rock. I would guess there were somewhere between cars with some very unique machines including Bill & Ginger Bauder with their Allard J2X & Phil Auldridge & his wife with their Nash Healy Le Mans. There was a 1957 Morgan Plus 4(looked like it was out of the thirties) & a rare Peerless GT along with a RR that was formerly owned by the Queen's personal physician. There were a half dozen Healey's in attendance including Brett Miller with a new wallet (I'll get back to that). There were A, B, TC, TD & TF series MG's. A big bunch of B's with a couple of BGT coupes with V8s in them that looked like fun. Triumphs were well represented with TR3-8. There were only a couple of Jag sports cars but there was a pre Jag SS100 that was sweet. There was a row of potent looking Minis that made the modern Minis in attendance look like big cars. Sunbeam was also well represented with an Alpine & a row of V8 Tigers. Imagine what life would have been like for Maxwell Smart if he had driven a Tiger instead of an Alpine(look out 86). Some of the new cars such as RR & Aston Martin had displays. One Aston Martin had $40,000 worth of options which drove its price to around $330,000. The car display wasn't as nice as being on the grass in the park but the weather was perfect - making for a very nice show. RUMBLINS Page 8 of 13

9 That's my story & I'm stickin' to it DJ Oh yeah, the wallet. Every Brit knows the safest place to store your valuables is in the boot. Now for some NATIVE TEXANS boot means one thing - a place to mount your spurs. When Brett heard the boot was a safe place to store his valuables he took off his boots & inserted his wallet. Not exactly the British way but it might have worked a whole lot better if he had taken the boots & put them in the BOOT f you're going to leave them lay on the luggage rack you really ought to strap (or in the case of a true Texas redneck) duct tape em down. I don't know if any of y'all are as familiar with Brett's driving habits as the DPS but let's just say slow is not in his vocabulary. Well, the boots survived the 70 mph blast out of the neighborhood but when it came time to negotiate the turn onto a busy bridge the boots & all their contents walked off. This led to the news reports about the crazy guy running around on the bridge cussing out the traffic he was dodging while picking his stuff up. He got most of the cards & his driver's license - he's already got a new wallet & now he gets to go buy some brand new boots. RUMBLINS Page 9 of 13

13 TOOL BOX The purpose of the Tool Box is to assemble, and make available for use by STAHC members, specialty tools that are used in the restoration and/or maintenance of Healeys. In general, such tools will be those that are too expensive for an individual member to acquire for one time, or infrequent use. The following rules were established for use of the Tool Box by STAHC members. Success of this program will depend on your cooperation. Ø The Tool Box and records of use will be maintained by a member designated by the STAHC Board. The ini=al "Tool Man" is Jim Richmond. Ø Tools to be acquired for the Tool Box will be determined by the STAHC Board. If one of your projects requires the use of a special tool you should contact the Tool Man with the following in- forma=on: o Name of the tool. o What is it used for. o Where can it be purchased (if known) and the approximate cost. o When do you need the tool? Ø Requests to use an item in the Tool Box should be directed to the Tool Man. Arrangements for delivery and return of the tool will be made with the Tool Man. Unless otherwise agreed to, the tool will be returned within one month of the date it is delivered. You are responsible for: o Determining that the tool is appropriate for the contemplated task. o Determining that you understand and can execute the proper use of the tool. o Damage to the tool. o Return of the tool within one month or other =me limit agreed to. Ø Upon delivery, you will be asked to sign a receipt agreeing to these terms. STAHC and the Tool Man will not be responsible for your use of the tool or any damage or injury that it may cause. TECH SESSIONS Tech sessions can be many things. They can be a get-together of members to help a fellow club member with a specific problem or a task that requires (or is easier) with one or more helpers. A Tech session can also be a meeting where a member, or a non-member, with some particular skill or expertise demonstrates how to accomplish a particular task. Tech Session attendees may be helpers, teachers, learners, tool suppliers or any combination of the above. Tech session hosts usually supply light refreshments. Beer is recommended. If you would like to host a tech session please notify me (Rumblins editor) as far in advance as possible, but no less than one week ahead of the session date. I will forward your request to all members on the Rumblins list as soon as possible. Please supply the following information: Date, =me and loca=on with direc=ons. The task (s) that you hope to accomplish. Descrip=on of problems, if any, that you have encountered. Tools required that you do not have.
