2 STAHC is an area club of the Austin-Healey Club of America, the largest Austin-Healey club in the world. STAHC is one of 47 independent area clubs and was sanctioned by AHCA in STAHC covers the Austin, San Antonio and surrounding areas of South Texas. Julie and I had the opportunity to see the F1 race over the weekend. The weather sure was nasty over the weekend. Saturday was actually cancelled due to the monsoon, but that didn t stop me and a few friends from having a few and pretending we saw them. It did stop raining long enough for us to get to walk the track. The starting line goes up a hill headed toward a blind & tight turn 1 - wow. Sunday was decent enough. I talked Julie into joining me and some friends to watch the race. General admission tickets allow you to wander around the entire course. We decided that we were too old to wander the entire 3.4 miles so we went to turn 1. With yesterdays rain, the grounds there were a true mosh mud pit - I thought we were too old for moshing, but we did it. We all know that they race in the rain, but did you know they bang into each other like NASCARS? Sure enough, flag drops and they come roaring up turn 1. When all the banging begins, those little fragile things start shedding parts of their body. 5 PRESIDENTS RAMBLINS (CONTINUED) road and picked up all the parts they could before the cars came back around. Also bet you didn t know that when they do throw a yellow flag out and the pace car comes out, he knows how to drive. That pace car flew around the track and I think some of the racers actually had a little trouble keeping up. Race was really great, but we didn t get to see the finish. I found out later that Elton John did the post race interview, and oh yea - he still knows how to sing - great concert. This is the closest Julie and I have to having too much fun. Cheers Brett EDITOR S RUMBLINS By Jim Richmond soaked the Plaza forcing the event to be held on the paved parking lot one block north. This gathering of British cars, both old and new, is sponsored by the South Texas Triumph Association, Alamo MG Association, the San Antonio Jaguar Car Club and our own STAHC. This year s event was hosted by the South Texas Triumph Association. The Austin-Healey community was represented by the following STAHC and Gulf Coast AHC members: Bonnie and David Ayer Brian Blackwell Ron Borden Michael and Joy Escriva Lynn McKinnie Jim Richmond Michael won first place in the AH Sprite/MG Midget category while Joy took first place for T series MGs. The first place big Healey award went to Lynn for his BJ8. Congratulations to all the award winners! LAST MONTH SOUTH TEXAS ALL BRITISH CAR DAY Over five inches of rain fell on Boerne between Thursday, October 22 and Saturday, October 24 causing the 2015 South Texas All British Car Day to be postponed to the following Saturday. The rains came again last Friday, but the skies cleared Saturday morning just in time for this event to proceed. STABCD is traditionally held on the Plaza at Main Street and West Blanco Road in downtown Boerne, however the preceding rain completely (More STABCD photos on the next page.) RUMBLINS Page 5! of! 10

7 THIS MONTH AND BEYOND FALL AHCA DELEGATES MEETING The fall meeting of AHCA National Delegates will be held in Indianapolis Indiana November 6-8. I will attend as your representative. If you have questions or concerns that you would like for me to present at the meeting, please contact me at jkrich@gvtc.- com. Karen and I will leave for Indianapolis sometime on November 3. TOUR TO PALMETTO STATE PARK This event is sponsored by Debbie and John Berry. Here is a message from the Berrys The Berrys invite all club members to join us Saturday, November 14 on one of our favorite day-trips in Central Texas, a visit to Luling City Market for BBQ and then a short run down to Ottine for an afternoon by the San Marcos River in Palmetto Sate Park. Palmetto State Park is known for its dwarf Palmettos, lush tropical growth and birding. We plan on arriving at Luling City Market 1:30 for BBQ then an afternoon at the park. With roots in Luling, I grew up on Sundays at City Market and afternoons at the Park. The park is especially beautiful on a full belly of City Market BBQ. 10 TOOL BOX The purpose of the Tool Box is to assemble, and make available for use by STAHC members, specialty tools that are used in the restora?on and/or maintenance of Healeys. In general, such tools will be those that are too expensive for an individual member to acquire for one?me, or infrequent use. The following rules were established for use of the Tool Box by STAHC members. Success of this program will depend on your coopera?on. Ø The Tool Box and records of use will be maintained by a member designated by the STAHC Board. The ini?al "Tool Man" is Jim Richmond. Ø Tools to be acquired for the Tool Box will be determined by the STAHC Board. If one of your projects requires the use of a special tool you should contact the Tool Man with the following informa?on: o Name of the tool. o What is it used for. o Where can it be purchased (if known) and the approximate cost. o When do you need the tool? Ø Requests to use an item in the Tool Box should be directed to the Tool Man. Arrangements for delivery and return of the tool will be made with the Tool Man. Unless otherwise agreed to, the tool will be returned within one month of the date it is delivered. You are responsible for: o Determining that the tool is appropriate for the contemplated task. o Determining that you understand and can execute the proper use of the tool. o Damage to the tool. o Return of the tool within one month or other?me limit agreed to. Ø Upon delivery, you will be asked to sign a receipt agreeing to these terms. STAHC and the Tool Man will not be responsible for your use of the tool or any damage or injury that it may cause. Ø Currently, the STAHC Tool Box contains the following: LiU-the-Dot Hand Punch. (Punches center hole and prong holes for installa?on of LiU-the-Dot fasteners for tops and tonneau covers. Moss Motors No ) Valve Guide Reamer size.281 for intake and exhaust standard size valve guides used on all Sprite and MG Midget A series engines (948cc, 1098cc, and 1275cc) and an engine leveler (for removing or installing an engine). TECH SESSIONS Tech sessions can be many things. They can be a get-together of members to help a fellow club member with a specific problem or a task that requires (or is easier) with one or more helpers. A Tech session can also be a mee?ng where a member, or a non-member, with some par?cular skill or exper?se demonstrates how to accomplish a par?cular task. Tech Session adendees may be helpers, teachers, learners, tool suppliers or any combina?on of the above. Tech session hosts usually supply light refreshments. Beer is recommended. If you would like to host a tech session please no?fy me (Rumblins editor) as far in advance as possible, but no less than one week ahead of the session date. I will forward your request to all members on the Rumblins list as soon as possible. Please supply the following informa?on: Date,?me and loca?on with direc?ons. The task (s) that you hope to accomplish. Descrip?on of problems, if any, that you have encountered. Tools required that you do not have. Model and year of your Healey, e.g., BJ8 Phase II, Other informa?on that you would like to include in your no?ce. RUMBLINS Page! 10 of! 10
