In Memory of Joyce Watkins September 21, 1931 - August 14, 2018 The Maltese Club of Greater Miami is saddened with the loss of one of our founding members, Joyce Watkins.

The Marcris legacy began with the prefix that came from the names of her two children, Mark and Cristie. Joyce openly admitted I have to breed a pretty dog because I m not a great groomer.

2 In Memory of Joyce Watkins September 21, August 14, 2018 The Maltese Club of Greater Miami is saddened with the loss of one of our founding members, Joyce Watkins. She was also a longtime member of the American Maltese Association, the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America, and many All-breed clubs in South Florida. The Marcris legacy began with the prefix that came from the names of her two children, Mark and Cristie. Joyce openly admitted I have to breed a pretty dog because I m not a great groomer. The Marcris lines were soon highly sought after by many top breeders and today can be found in pedigrees worldwide. Throughout the years, Joyce mentored many new breeders and she shared the best she had, always wanting to represent the Marcris name with quality in the ring. Joyce contributed many ideas that shaped the American Maltese Association. She was instrumental in the enactment of the Open Air Policy which now affects the operation of the AMA board. In addition, she initiated the adoption of the Record of Merit (ROM) and the Record of Merit Excellent (ROMX) Awards. Joyce is the breeder of countless champions, and many that bear the distinctions of ROM, ROMX, Best in Specialty Show and Best in Show. She also achieved the YTCA Breeder of the Year Award for 1990 and the highly prestigious AMA Platinum Breeder of the Year Award for 1991 through The membership additionally honored Joyce by selecting her as the AMA Sweepstakes judge for the 25 th Anniversary National Specialty. And Joyce certainly will always be fondly remembered for her prowess on the dance floor at many of these events that celebrated this white passion. 2 15

Entry Fee: $35.00 (includes $.50 AKC Registration recording fee & $3.00 event fee) for first entry. Puppy Class, Bred-By-Exhibitor, $ month classes are adults for entry fee purposes. (MCGM) Fax Entries: Both sides of the entry form must be faxed. Visa/Master Card number and expiration date, as well as the printed cardholder's name must be included. Fax entries must be received by the closing hour and date. Fax fee: $4.00 per entry in addition to entry fee. On-Line Entries can be taken at On-Line Fee: $4.00 per entry in addition to entry fee. Telephone, telegraph and unsigned entries CANNOT be accepted. Entry fee shall not be refunded in the event a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by a Veterinari- 14 3

4 an or Judge, or barred. Canadian exhibitors must make fees payable in US funds. Entries not on Official AKC Entry Forms and photocopies of the entry without the Agreement and Rules from the reverse side of the Official AKC Entry Form are NOT ACCEPTABLE. Errors on Entry Blanks: Owners are responsible for errors in making out entry forms, whoever may make such errors, and no entry fee will be refunded in event of such errors or cancellation of entries after the published closing date. A recording fee of 50 cents and an event fee of $3.00 will be required for each dog entered at any licensed or Member Club, Show, Obedience Trial, or Tracking Test. This fee is to be collected by the Show-giving Club and paid to AKC. If a dog is entered in more than one class in the show, the fee is collected on the first entry only. (American Kennel Club Rule, Chapter 14, Section 2) All dogs must be held on leash except when in the exercise area or crated. Grooming is indoors. Exhibitors are responsible for clean conditions in and around their crates and grooming areas. Judges will not wait for any dog holding up a class. No entry shall be made or accepted which specifies any condition as to its acceptance. Exhibitors should follow their veterinarians recommendation to assure their dogs are free of internal and external parasites, any communicable diseases, and have appropriate vaccinations. Judging schedule and map to the show site will be mailed as soon as possible after the closing of entries. There will be a holding area set up outside of each ring that can be utilized during your judging. This area must be vacated as soon as judging is over. NOTE: All Rules and Regulations used during the Saturday & Sunday shows are applicable to the shows on Friday. The show giving club, the show secretary, their agents, employees, etc., assume no responsibility for any loss, damage, or injury sustained by exhibitors or handlers to any of their dogs or property, and further assume no responsibility for injury to children.
