4 LIVESTOCK Barn Chairman: Rusty Howard GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. Entry forms, entry fees and stall fees must be sent to the Dent County Jr. Livestock Committee at: Dent County Extension Center, 112 E. 5 th Street, Suite 4, Salem, MO, by Wednesday, July 5, All livestock must be in place by 11:00 am, Thursday, July 20, 2017, and will be released Saturday evening, July 22, Health standards for livestock placed on exhibition are as follows: livestock of any age or class showing clinical evidence of disease shall not be permitted to enter the grounds. Any animal developing clinical disease after entering the grounds may not be shown and shall be subject to isolation and removal depending upon the nature and seriousness of the disease. All health papers must be in order before unloading. 4. Two animals may be shown in all classes except the market and showmanship classes. Exhibitors are limited to one entry per group class. 5. If any animal is removed before release time, owner will forfeit prize money. 6. Stalls/Pens for Beef Cattle and Swine will be assigned by the Jr. Livestock Committee by lottery drawing. Beef exhibitors will be allowed one tack stall per family or breeder. All other species may be subject to stall/pen assignment by the Jr. Livestock Committee if limited space inside the barn dictates. 7. All exhibitors must furnish their own bedding. 8. All stalls and pens must be cleaned by 8 am each day. All cots and bedding and other personal belongings must be kept out of aisles and stalls between 8 am and 10 pm. 9. Any animal subjected to any activity deemed unethical by the Jr. Livestock Committee may result in disqualification. 10. All barn lights must be out no later than 12 midnight. 11. No dogs will be allowed in the barns, with the exception of service dogs. Dogs entered into the Pet Fashion Show may arrive 30 minutes prior to the contest and must be removed within 30 minutes after the contest. All dogs must be on a leash. Animal Health Requirements for Exhibition 2 CSR Summary Rules of Department of Agriculture Division 30 Animal Health Chapter 2 Health Requirements 1. Certificate of Veterinary Inspection A. All animals must have a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection or a paper copy of an electronic Certificate of Inspection unless specifically exempted. The Certificate of Veterinary Inspection shall state that the animals are free of visible signs of contagious, infectious, or communicable disease, describe the animal(s) by species, breed, sex and age. The Certificate of Veterinary Inspection shall reflect all data for required test and vaccinations, all dates, results and the name of the laboratory. B. 5 Department E 4-H CURED MEATS Blue $1.50; Red $1.00; White $.50 GENERAL RULES 1. All meats must be USDA inspected hams or bacon. 2. All cured meats exhibited and sold must use the country cured process outlined in the Y374 4-H guide sheet and be shelf stable. 3. Exhibitors must be enrolled in the Cured Meats project and a member in good standing. Meats must be cured (smoking is optional) during the current club year. 4. Meats entries must be checked in Tuesday, 4 pm 6:30 pm, July 18, A Project Record Book is required. Exhibitors may enter either or both meats projects, but may only sell one project in the Market Sale. 5. Weight tickets must be attached to all meats projects at time of entry and must remain until the Market Sale. 6. All meats will be judged on Wednesday, July 19 and receive a ribbon. Champion and Reserve Champion will be selected. 7. Any meats project determined by the judge to be spoiled will not receive a ribbon or premium and will not be sold. 8. All cured meats will be inspected the day of the sale and no cured meat will be sold that is deemed unfit for sale. Cured Meats will be sold according to judge s placing on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, prior to the Market Sale. 9. All sold cured meats will be subject to a 2.5% commission fee. Department F 4-H EXHIBITS Linda Shelton, Chairman Blue $1.50; Red $1.00; White $.50; Best of Show $5.00 GENERAL RULES 1. All exhibitors must be a 4-H member in good standing. 2. All articles must be made or assembled by the 4-H member, and must be made during the current 4-H year H exhibitors must be enrolled in the project in which they enter an article. 4. Entries must be checked in Tuesday, 4 pm 6:30 pm, July 18, Exhibits are released and premiums paid Saturday July 22, All items and premiums are to be picked up between 6 7:00 pm. 6. Clover Kids will receive participation ribbons only. 7. Entries are limited to members of Dent County 4-H clubs. LOT 1 AEROSPACE 1. Aerospace 18 C. Animals with active lesions of ringworm or warts will not be permitted to exhibit and shall be subject to isolation and expulsion. D. Sales scheduled in association with exhibitions must employ a veterinarian to examine animals and process Certificate of Veterinary Inspection for change of ownership. The following are requirements for animals EXHIBITED in Missouri. Animals sold in addition to being exhibited must meet the entry requirements of Missouri. 2. Exhibition requirements for Cattle A. Intrastate (cattle in Missouri moving for exhibition only). 1. No Certificate of Veterinary Inspection required. 2. Brucellosis no test or vaccination is required. 3. Tuberculosis not test is required. B. Interstate (cattle from another state entering Missouri for exhibition only). 1. Certificate of Veterinary Inspection required with official individual identification for each animal listed. 2. Brucellosis A. Cattle from brucellosis-free states. 1. Sexually intact cattle may enter without a brucellosis test. 2. Steers. No test required, but the steer(s) must be individually listed and identified on a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection. B. Cattle from brucellosis Class A states. 1. Sexually intact test-eligible animals must be tested and negative within thirty days prior to entry except cattle from a certified brucellosis-free herd. The certified herd number and date of the last herd test date must be listed on the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection; 2. Steers. No test required, but the steer(s) must be individually listed and identified on a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection; 3. Tuberculosis. A. Beef Tuberculosis Free States. 1. Tuberculosis Free States. All beef cattle two months of age and over (including steers) may enter without additional testing requirements or permit 2. Tuberculosis Status-less than free must meet the following requirements: A. Must obtain an entry permit. 3. Must have a negative tuberculosis test within sixty days of exhibition, test date must be listed on the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection; or 4. Move from an accredited tuberculosis-free herd (herd test date must be listed on the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection); or 5. Move directly from a herd of origin that has had one complete negative herd test within one year (date of test must be listed on the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection). B. Dairy All classes of dairy cattle, two months of age and older, entering Missouri for exhibition must meet the following requirements: 1. Must obtain an entry permit. 2. Have a negative tuberculosis test within sixty days of shipment; test date must be listed on the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection; or 3. Move from an accredited tuberculosis-free herd (herd test date must be listed on the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection); or 4. Move directly from a herd of origin that has had one complete negative herd test within one year (date of test must be listed on the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection). 3. Exhibition requirements for Swine A. Intrastate (swine in Missouri moving for exhibition only). 1. All swine must be free of clinical signs of infectious or contagious disease. 2. No Certificate of Veterinary Inspection is required. 3. Brucellosis no test required. 4. Pseudorabies no test required. B. Interstate (swine from another state entering Missouri for exhibition only). 1. A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection is required. All swine must be identified by ear tag, ear notch, tattoo and individually listed on the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection. 2. Brucellosis A. Breeding swine originating from brucellosis-free states may exhibit without a bru- 3

Breeding swine originating from a brucellosis status less than free states must be tested negative within sixty days prior to exhibition except breeding swine from a validated brucellosis-free herd. The validated herd number and date of last validating test must be listed on the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection. 3. Psuedorabies A. Swine originating from a state classified as Stage V the National Pseudorabies (PRV) Eradication Plan may exhibit without a pseudorabies test. B. All other swine must be tested negative within sixty days prior to exhibition except swine from a qualified pseudorabies-free herd. The qualified herd number and date of last qualifying test must be listed on the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection. 4. Exhibition requirements for Sheep A. Intrastate (sheep in Missouri moving for exhibition only). 1. Sheep must be free of clinical signs of an infectious or contagious disease 2. All sheep, regardless of age or gender, must be individually identified by an official scrapie eartag and be listed on a Certificate of Veterinary inspection. 3. No test required. B. Interstate (sheep from another state entering Missouri for exhibition only). 1. Sheep must be free of clinical signs of an infectious or contagious disease 2. All sheep, regardless of age or gender, must be individually identified by an official scrapie eartag and be listed on a Certificate of Veterinary inspection. 3. No test required. 5. Exhibition requirements for Goats A. Intrastate (goats in Missouri moving for exhibition only). 1. Goats must be free of clinical signs of an infectious or contagious disease 2. All goats, regardless of age or gender, must be individually identified by an official scrapie eartag and be listed on a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection. 3. Brucellosis no test required. 4. Pseudorabies no test required. B. Interstate (goats from another state entering Missouri for exhibition only). 1. Goats must be free of clinical signs of an infectious or contagious disease. 2. All goats, regardless of age or gender, must be individually identified by an official scrapie eartag and be listed on a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection. 3. No test required. 7. Exhibition for Poultry and Waterfowl A. Intrastate (poultry and waterfowl in Missouri moving for exhibition only). 1. All poultry and waterfowl to be exhibited must be free of clinical signs of any infectious or contagious disease. 2. No Certificate of Veterinary Inspection is required. 3. Pullorum-Typhoid test. All poultry (except waterfowl) exhibited shall be tested negative for pullorum-typhoid within ninety (90) days prior to exhibition or originate from a flock approved by the National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP) or an equivalent program which as been tested within the past twelve months with no change of ownership. This information shall be documented on a VS From 9-2 (see 2 CSR ) or similar certificate which shall accompany the poultry to the exhibition and shall be made available on request. B. Interstate (poultry and waterfowl entering Missouri for exhibition only). 1. All poultry and waterfowl to be exhibited must be free of clinical signs of any infectious or contagious disease. 2. A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection is required. 3. Pullorum-Typhoid test. All poultry (except waterfowl) exhibited shall be tested negative for pullorum-typhoid within ninety days prior to exhibition or originate from a flock approved by the National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP) or an equivalent program which has been tested within the past twelve months with no change of ownership. This information shall be documented on a VS From 9-2 (see 2 CSR ) or similar certificate which shall accompany the poultry to the exhibition and shall be made available on request. 4. An entry permit is required. C. Requirements for Sponsoring Exhibitions for Poultry and Waterfowl. 4 Department D PEE-WEE SHOWS Division A 4-H BUCKET CALF SHOW Participation Trophies awarded to each exhibitor RULES AND REGULATIONS 2. This class is for 4-H youth 8-12 years of age (as of January 1). 3. Entries must have been acquired within 2 weeks of birth, born between February 1 and June 15 of the current year. 4. There will be one non-competitive class and each exhibitor will receive a participation trophy. 5. All calves must be checked in at the Livestock registration by 11:30 am on Thursday, July 20, A Project Record Book is required. 6. Exhibitors are limited to one entry in Division A. Division B PEE-WEE SHOWMANSHIP Participation Ribbons awarded to each exhibitor RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. This class is for Clover Kids 5-7 years of age (as of January 1). 2. Animals entered in Pee-Wee Showmanship may be animals exhibited in Departments A or B (excluding beef and dairy) under another exhibitor s name, preferably a family member, or as an individual Clover Kid small animal project. 3. All animals must be checked in at the Livestock registration by 11:30 am on Thursday, July 20, A Project Record Book is required for individual Clover Kid small animal projects. No Project Record Book is required when showing a sibling s animal. 5. Exhibitors are limited to one entry (1 species) in Division B. 7 8. Poultry exhibited in pairs may not be shown separately and must be kept in one cage. 9. Poultry must not have signs of contagious or infectious disease. Poultry must have a VS Form 9-2 or similar certificate showing a negative Pullorum- Typhoid Test within 90 days of showing. This certificate must be posted on the exhibit cage. Any 4-H/FFA member exhibiting an animal in Department A or B is eligible to enter a Showmanship Class. 2. Showmanship Classes do not require an entry fee. 3. Livestock shown in Showmanship Class must be owned by the exhibitor. 4. Showmanship Classes will be held immediately following each specie s general show. 5. No bulls or rams may be shown in Beef or Sheep Showmanship. Dairy Showmanship An official representing the person or organization sponsoring the exhibition shall notify the state veterinarian no later than thirty days prior to the exhibition giving the names, place, inclusive dates and times of event. 2. Record Keeping. The sponsor of the exhibition shall compile a list of all poultry and waterfowl present at the exhibition. The list shall contain the name and address of each owner, the number, species, breed, variety, type, sex and pullorum-typhoid status of all poultry present. A copy of this list shall be retained by the sponsor of the exhibition for at least twelve months and shall be made available upon request to a representative of the department. 3. Inspection. All poultry and waterfowl to be exhibited must be free of clinical signs of any infections or contagious disease. A representative of the department shall have access to the exhibits and may conduct inspections and tests as deemed necessary. Department A 4-H/FFA MARKET LIVESTOCK GENERAL RULES JR. LIVESTOCK COMMITTEE: Donnie Major, Chairman; Ted Cunningham, Heather Johnson, Lane Howard, Linda Shelton, Billy Schafer, Brad Smith, Rusty Howard, Bob Parsons 1. Market animals must be owned by exhibitor and must be enrolled as a project in 4-H or FFA. Animals will be shown by the exhibitor. 2. Livestock registration is 9:30 am 11:30 am. Each exhibitor must present one Project Record Book and/or Missouri SAE Record Book containing combined records for all animal entries at registration. 3. All market animals must be in place by 11:00 am, Thursday, July 20, Weigh-ins begin at 12:30 pm. 4. Exhibitors may weigh in only one market animal per species. 5. Exhibitors have the option of taking home any market hog that does not make weight. Any hogs opted to go home must be removed by 7:00 pm, Thursday, July 20, Exhibitors may show multiple species of animals, but may sell only one market animal or cured meat at the 4-H/FFA Market Sale. Exhibitors with a grand champion may sell another market animal or cured meat in addition to the grand champion market animal or cured meat. 7. A lightweight show will be held for all animals not making weight. The show will be judging only and animals are not eligible to sell. Premiums will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each class. 8. To be eligible to show and sell, the exhibitor must be a member in good standing of the Dent County FFA Chapter or a Dent County 4-H Club. 9. Participation in Livestock Quality Assurance (LQA) is mandatory to show and sell all livestock animals and cured meats. 10. Market Livestock Classes will be broken into weight divisions by the Jr. Livestock Committee following the live show. 11. All state health requirements will be followed. Health Certificates must be obtained from a veterinarian prior to arrival at the Expo grounds. 12. Animals will be placed by the show judge. Sale order will be determined by 5

8 the Jr. Livestock Committee in accordance with judge s placings. 13. For an animal to win A.D.G. it must be shown. 14. Exhibitor is responsible for their animal(s) until release time. 15. All Market Livestock and Cured Meats sold at auction on Saturday, July 22, will be subject to a 2.5% commission fee. 16. All Sale and Premium checks will be null and void after 90 days. FFA CLASSES Heather Johnson, Lane Howard, Chairmen RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. FFA Market Classes are open to any FFA member in good standing and regularly enrolled in Agricultural Education or an Active Graduate FFA member of an FFA Chapter in Dent County. 2. Animals must be owned by the exhibitor at least 30 days prior to being shown and must be part of their Supervised Agricultural Experience Program. 3. Each exhibitor must present one Missouri SAE Record Book containing records for all animal entries at registration. 3. All entries must be approved and signed by the member s FFA Advisor. Division A 4-H/FFA MARKET STEER SHOW & SALE 1 st -$20.00; 2 nd -$15.00; 3 rd -$10.00 awarded to each class 1. All general 4-H/FFA Market Livestock rules apply to this division. 2. Steers must have been weighed in on February 25, 2017 at the Dent County Steer weigh-in for official entry to show. 3. Entries must have been born after January 1 of the previous year. No steer with a broken mouth may be shown. (Meaning a full set of baby teeth is required.) 4. All steers must be checked in at the Livestock registration by 11:30 am on Thursday, July 20, A Project Record Book or Missouri SAE Record Book is required. 5. Steers will be weighed at 12:30 pm on Thursday, July 20, This weight will be the selling weight. Minimum weight is 1000 lbs. 6. Steers must be weighed dry and cannot be weighed more than one time. 7. Steers must have a A.D.G. of 2.5 pounds to be eligible to show and sell. 8. Steers must be halter broken and manageable by the exhibitor as determined by the Jr. Livestock Committee. Any exhibitor of a Market Steer will be subject at any time to demonstrate that their animal is manageable. Steers that are ruled unmanageable will be released, sent home and disqualified from the auction or any premiums. 1. Doelings: 0-6 months old 6. Does: under 2 years old 2.
