1 TALEGA GALLERY NEWSLETTER May 2018 A Message From OCFA: Most all of us have been affected, one way or another, by the many wild land fires that California experienced during the 2017 fire season. With over 1.3 million acres burned and over 10,000 structures destroyed, the impacts from wildfires across the state during the fire season were devastating. The Orange County Fire Authority recognizes that fire season is year-round, with California experiencing a dramatic increase in both the number and intensity of large, damaging wildfires over the last decade. This is the new normal of the State s wildfire environment. Orange County Fire Authority is here to help you and your communities become better prepared for the next wildfire. Time is precious during a wildfire event with many people only having enough time to evacuate with the clothes they are wearing. It is important to be prepared well ahead of the threat of a wildfire and there are some key elements that can be done in preparation to help minimize the effects of a wildfire. READY: Prepare your evacuation plan, including responsibilities, egress routes, and meeting places. Make sure your yard has a minimum of 100 of Defensible Space or, if you have smaller lot, your whole yard has all dead and dying plant material removed, including dead palm fronds. Trim trees off your roof and at least four feet above the ground/shrubs below it. Clean and remove all leaves and other flammable debris from your roof gutters and swales. Look around and imagine where an ember will land (look to see where leaves gather). SET: The fire is coming activate your evacuation plan. How close is the fire to your Trigger Point? If time, pack your car, grab the items you ve already identified as MUST HAVES (i.e. People, papers, prescriptions, pets, pictures, personal items). GO!: Get out EARLY! It will take longer than normal to evacuate your neighborhood so don t hesitate. You may safe list your guest vehicle 24 hours a day as indicated below: Website (24/7) Enter your address, click the dates on the calendar you need the vehicle safe listed, license plate number, make, model and color of vehicle, click the agree box then submit. OC Patrol (24/7) Onsite Office- (during business hours) TMC Architectural Application Process & Guidelines There have been some questions about when owners need to submit an architectural application to the Master Association (TMC). Painting: If you are planning on changing your paint color to a different scheme then the original, you must submit an architectural application to the Master Association and receive approval. If you are painting your home the exact current scheme color then you must notify the on -site management office by providing the paint numbers and the scheme number. Backyard enhancements: If you are changing out dying plants with the exact same plants, trimming trees, replacing seasonal plants or replacing the sod in your backyard this is considered maintenance. No application is needed. If you are changing plants, hardscape, installing patio covers, jacuzzies, pavers, etc. you will need to submit an architectural application to the Master Association. Please review the Master Associations (TMC) architectural guidelines found once you log in to Contact the on-site office or Kathy Conkey directly at should you have any questions Street Sweeping Schedule Street sweeping occurs on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month.
