5 Brief History of NTU Vet School , National Taiwan University set up Department of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine (ASVM). 1955, ASVM set up Veterinary Medicine Division. In 1959, the Department of Veterinary Medicine was formally founded; offered 30 students per year with a five-year program leading to a degree of Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM). 1968, the Graduate Institute started and offered master degree program; in 1977, a Ph.D. degree program was inaugurated.

6 Brief History of NTU Vet School , the veterinary undergraduate program expand to 2 classes with 60 students each year to now. 1995, six-story newly Veterinary Teaching Hospital opened. 1998, Hong Kong and Macau recommended NTUDVM program.

7 Brief History of NTU Vet School , the School of Veterinary Medicine established on August 1st. The school includes one department (Veterinary Medicine), three centers (Development Center for Animal Disease and Livestock Hygiene Technology, Center for Zoonosis Research, and Animal Cancer Center) and three graduate institutes (Veterinary Medicine [since 1968], Veterinary Clinical Sciences [since 2007] and Molecular and Comparative Pathobiology [since 2011]). 2009, Offer Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree.

13 CURRICULUM UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS The department offers a five-year program leading to a doctorate's degree of veterinary medicine. Students must complete and pass all required courses during the first four years before they are allowed to proceed to the final year's course for at least 1400 hours of clinical training. A minimum of 182 credit units is required for DVM. Core Courses include: Veterinary Basic Sciences of the first 2 year, para-veterinary medical science at the 3rd to 4th year, and Veterinary clinical sciences and practice at 4th to 5th year. Courses offered: General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Embryology, Veterinary Anatomy, Veterinary Physiology, Animal Histology, Veterinary Bacteriology, Veterinary Parasitology, Veterinary Virology, Veterinary Pathology, Veterinary Immunology, Biostatistics, Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging and Clinical Diagnosis, Veterinary Pharmacology, Veterinary Clinical Pathology, Veterinary Theriogenology, Veterinary Public Health, Animal Feeding and Management, Veterinary Genetics, Veterinary Anesthesiology, Small Animal Surgery Skills, Large Animal Surgery Skills, Small Animal Surgery, Ruminant Medicine, Diseases of Swine, Poultry Diseases, Equine Diseases, Animal Hospital Practices, Aquatic Animal Diseases, Small Animal Internal Medicine, Veterinary Epidemiology, Veterinary Jurisprudence and Ethics, Clinical Conference, Clinical rotation, and Necropsy.

14 CURRICULUM GRADUATE PROGRAMS The graduate school offers the 3 different Master's degree program and one Ph.D. degree program. A minimum of twenty-four credit units (the six-credit thesis is not included) is required for the Master's degree. All Ph.D. students must fulfill both course and research requirements for their Ph.D. degree. A minimum of eighteen credit units (the twelve-credit dissertation is not included) is required for the Ph.D. degree. In addition, three Ph.D. research-related publications, including at least two published or accepted by SCI-listed journals, are required for granting a PhD degree.

Graduates occupation in accompany animal clinics is around 60%, and increasing steadily. 25% graduates are in academics and research area. 15% graduates are served as public health DVM in Taiwanese government.
