Since then, Continues Education Programmes for veterinarians were conducted in Collaboration with WSAVAl and other relevant stakeholders by employing foreign and local veterinary professionals as resource people. Main objective of the society is to conduct Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programmes for veterinarians engage in small animal medicine. This year we conducted three Continues Professional Development (CPD) activities for practicing veterinarians List of Activities: Our first CPD activity for this year was conducted on 6th June 2017 at Sri Lanka Federation of University Women, Colombo. Topics covered and resource peoples as follows 1. Current techniques of effective wound management by Dr. Maheeka Seneviratne, (MA, Vet MB (Cantab, UK), MRCVS. Pet Vet clinic, Col Pain scales for small animal practice (Colorado and Glasgow) Dr. Mayuri Thammitiyagodage, (BVSc, MPhil) Medical Research Institute, Col. 08 Nealy 30 veterinarians participated the programme. Our second Continuous CPD was on Cardio Respiratory Medicine and it was conducted on3 rd and 4 th August 2017 at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute, Colombo. This programme was conducted as a collaborative workshop with WSAVA Continuous Education Committee and the Society of Companion Animal Practitioner of Sri Lanka. Prof David Connolly from the Royal Veterinary College, UK participated as the resource person for this programme and 60 veterinarians attended for that. Topics covered were as follows. * Coughing dogs with DMVD a clinical challenge A cardiologist's perspective * The canine cardio respiratory consultation
2 * ECG methodology and interpretation * The diagnosis of cardiovascular disease in cats * Survival- in cats with HCM * Breathing pattern * Approach and treatment of the dyspnoeic patient * Management of canine chronic mitral valve disease In addition to Colombo programme, another programme was conducted in Kandy for veterinary students in the faculty. Our 3 rd CPD programmes for this year was conducted on 9th and 10th of November 2017 at the Post graduate Institute of Management and Faculty of veterinary Medicine, Sri Lanka. Our resource people were from Australia and India respectively. Nearly 125 veterinary clinicians and vet students participated the programme. Dr N.U.Horadagoda, (BVSc Sri Lanka, MVSc, PhD (Glasgow), MASVSc (Pathobiology), Dr. Pradip Chaudhri (M.V.Sc, D.M.R.I.T, PhD). From TATA Memmorial Centre Mumbai and Topics covered were Chemotherapy drugs: Use and Management of Side Effects and Radiation Therapy in Canine Oncology Our objectives Our main objective is to establish a CPD point system for veterinarians practice in small animal sector with the help of the Sri Lanka Veterinary council. In addition to that we want to make available some specific veterinary medicines that are not available in the country at the moment. Society is planning to have special activities in parallel to World Rabies Day as Sri Lanka is endemic to Rabies in the year Please also attach photos attached
