Best of Breed Competition Note: Effective for all shows held on or after July 1, 1980, dogs which according to their owner s records have completed the requirements for a Championship after the closing of entries for this show, but whose Championships are unconfirmed, may be transferred from one of the Regular Classes to the Best of Breed or Variety Competition, provided this transfer is made by the Show Secretary at least one-half hour prior to the start of the judging at this show (Chapter 11, Section 6, AKC Rules Applying To Dog Shows). Award(s) of Merit The Judge may, at his/her discretion, recall into the ring UP TO FOUR dogs/bitches to receive an Award of Merit. 5 OBED/RALLY continued. ADDITIONAL RULES FOR OBEDIENCE AND RALLY: The term dog will refer to either sex. Qualifying Score is required for all prizes in regular classes. Jump heights (when appropriate) are required with entry. Armbands for this Trial will be arranged in descending Jump Height Order, starting with the highest jump height. MOVE UPS WILL BE ALLOWED PER AKC REGULATIONS. Please Note: Refunds are allowed for Bitches who come into season after entries close if the request is in writing and presented to the Event Secretary no later than 30 minutes prior to the start of judging. The club will retain a $5.00 processing fee. PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL OBEDIENCE A ND RALLY CLASSES ARE LIMITED TO GIANT SCHNAUZERS ONLY AKC NATIONAL OWNER-HANDLED SERIES: The AKC National Owner-Handled Series is a non-titling competition for dogs that are exhibited by their owners that are not professional handlers. All dogs that are owner-handled and are not owned or exhibited by professional handlers* meet the requirements for this competition. Exhibitors must declare their dog is Owner-Handled eligible at the time of entry using the check box on the entry form. Eligible dogs will be identified by an asterisk in the judge s book, steward s book & the catalog. Dogs must be handled throughout the breed level competition for the regular show by an eligible owner. Professional handlers, household members and current assistants** to professional handlers may not exhibit the dog in any competition during the entire show. Owner-Handled Best of Breed will be selected from the dogs that are eligible to compete in the Best of Breed competition including Winners Dog, Winners Bitch and winners of the nonregular classes. If the Best of Breed/Variety winner is Owner-Handled competition eligible, it will automatically be Owner-Handled Best of Breed. If the Best of Breed/Variety winner is not eligible for Owner-Handled competition and the Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed/Variety is eligible, the Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed/Variety will compete against the eligible exhibits of the other sex to determine Owner-Handled Best of Breed/Variety. If neither the Best of Breed nor the Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed/Variety are Owner-Handled competition eligible and Select Dog & Select Bitch are both eligible, the judge is to choose Best Owner-Handled exhibit from the Selects and eligible Winners Dog or Winners Bitch. If one of the Selects is eligible, excuse all Champions and non-regular class winners of the same sex and then choose Best Owner-Handled exhibit from the remaining dogs of the opposite sex including the eligible Winners. If Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed, Select Dog & Select Bitch are not eligible, the judge may choose any eligible dog remaining in the ring including Winners Dog or Winners Bitch as Owner-Handled Best of Breed/Variety. If the Best of Winners is eligible, the other Winner is ineligible since it was defeated. No class dogs other than the Winners Dog & Winners Bitch are eligible to return to the ring. -5- Continued on next page.

6 AKC NOHS continued. *Professional handlers are defined as any person who belongs or has belonged to a professional handlers organization, distributed rate cards, or otherwise advertised or represented themselves as handling dogs for pay within the last five years. **A current assistant is defined as anyone employed by a professional handler on a full-time basis, or assisting a professional handler at the show or any time during the cluster/weekend. Don t forget to check the box at the bottom of your entry form as to your AKC NOHS eligibility. It must be done at the time of entry. SWEEPSTAKES: Entry fee - $ The Sweepstakes is open to all Giant Schnauzers who, on the day of the show, will be six (6) months old and under eighteen (18) months old. Winners of the Sweepstakes classes will compete for Best in Sweepstakes and Best of Opposite Sex to Best in Sweepstakes. Dogs shown in Sweepstakes MUST ALSO BE ENTERED in one of the Regular Classes at the regular entry fee. Indicate Sweepstakes and Age Division on the Official AKC entry form under Addtional Classes. AKC Champions of Record are NOT ELIGIBLE to compete. Entries must be exhibited by the owner, a member of the owner s immediate household, the breeder or the Stud Dog owner. No one may exhibit in this Sweepstakes unless they satisfy the foregoing requirements. Please note: The above rule is applicable for any dog returning to the ring for Best in Sweeps competition. 12 SHOW REGULATIONS Exhibitors must obey (abide by) all regulations or requirements of the management of the facility owning the show site. Telegraph, Telephone and Unsigned Entries Cannot Be Accepted. Entries Not On Official AKC Entry Forms and Photocopies Of Entry Forms without the Agreement and Rules on the reverse side of the Official AKC Entry Form are NOT ACCEPTABLE. No Entry shall be made and no entry shall be accepted which specifies any conditions as to its acceptance. Changes, additions or corrections to entry forms must be received in writing or by facsimile prior to close of entries. Changes which are received on the telephone are unacceptable. Declination of Entries. The Giant Schnauzer Club of America, Inc. may decline any entries for cause and may refuse to receive or may remove any dog on account of disease, viciousness or other cause and no one shall have any claim or recourse against the Giant Schnauzer Club of America, Inc. or any official thereof. All Entry Fees are to be made payable to the Giant Schnauzer Club of America (GSCA) and are to be mailed with entries to Judy Wilson, Show Secretary, 209 Wainwright Court, Sacramento, CA FOREIGN exhibitors must make fees payable in U.S. Funds. ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT FEES. Acknowledgment of entries will be made as soon as practicable with any necessary tickets. Should such ACKNOWLEDGMENT not be received by the Exhibitor within a reasonable time, please notify the show secretary. We are no longer accepting FACSIMILE MACHINE ENTRIES for shows. On-line entries can be made at If you are unable to make online entries, you can contact an entry service for last minute entries. Several companies are listed on our web site at Errors on Entry Blanks. Owners are responsible for errors in making out entry forms, whoever may make such errors and no entry fee will be refunded in event of such errors or cancellation of entries after the published closing date. No Refund for Duplicate Entries. We will make every effort to find all duplicate entries, but if an entry has been processed, no refund will be made. Returned Checks do not constitute a valid entry fee. The show secretary will add a $35.00 collection fee to the amount of each returned check. Subsequent returned checks from the same exhibitors may result in their being put on a CASH ONLY basis. Entry Fees shall not be refunded in the event of errors or cancellation of entries after the published closing date, nor in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by a Veterinarian or Judge or barred from competition by action of the Show Committee. If because of riots, civil disturbances or other acts beyond the control of the management it is impossible to open or to complete the show, no refund of entry fee will be made. The Shows will be Open from 8:00AM until 8:00PM for all NCPC events. Consult Judging Program for time of judging. Dogs May Arrive any time prior to their scheduled time of judging. Dogs not required for further judging will be excused. Judges are not required to wait for dogs. They will adhere as closely as possible to the Judging Schedule. The owner or handler of each dog is solely responsible for having it ready at ringside when it is scheduled to be judged. The show-giving Club and the show secretary have no obligation or responsibility for providing service through a public address system or stewards or runners for the purpose of calling or locating dogs that are not brought into the ring when required. The Show Giving Club, The Show Secretary, their agents or employees assume no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury sustained by exhibitors, handlers, spectators or to any of their dogs or property, and further assumes no responsibility for injury to any child not under the control of their parents or guardians. No Dogs will be allowed in the Show Area except those regularly entered in the show. There will be NO SPACE for unentered dogs at this show. All trophies, including cash prizes, MUST be claimed the day of the show None will be mailed. PLEASE NOTE: No entry may be changed or cancelled unless notice of the change or cancellation is received in writing or by telegram by the Superintendent or Show Secretary named in the premium list to receive entries, prior to the closing date and hours for entries, except that a correction may be made in the sex of a dog, or a dog may be transferred from one division of the Puppy Class to another or between the Puppy and Twelve-to-Eighteen Month Class at a show prior to the judging, and except that dogs which according to their owners records have completed the requirements for a championship after the closing of entries for a show but whose championships are unconfirmed, may be transferred from one of the regular classes to the Best of Breed or Variety competition, provided this transfer is made by the Superintendent or Show Secretary at least one half-hour prior to the scheduled start of any regular conformation judging at the show. No dog may otherwise be transferred to another class. Owners are responsible for errors in the entry forms, regardless of who may make such errors. (American Kennel Club Rule, Chapter 11, Section 6.) All persons attending these shows hereby wave any claim for damages against the Giant Schnauzer Club of America, Coyote Hills KC or the Solano County Fairgrounds, in the event a motor vehicle must be entered to rescue a dog from over-heating or suffocations due to improper ventilation. -18-

Box , Raleigh, NC AGREEMENT I (we) agree that the club holding this event has the right to refuse this entry for cause which the club shall deem sufficient. In consideration of the acceptance of this entry and of the holding of this event and of the opportunity to have the dog judged and to win prizes, ribbons or trophies, I (we) agree to hold the AKC, the event-giving club, their members, directors, governors, officers, agents, superintendents or event secretary and the owner and/or lessor of the premises and any provider of services that are necessary to hold this event and any employees or volunteers of the aforementioned parties, and any AKC approved judge, judging at this event, harmless from any claim for loss or injury which may be alleged to have been caused directly or indirectly to any person or thing by the act of this dog while in or about the event premises or grounds or near any entrance thereto, and I (we) personally assume all responsibility and liability for any such claim; and I (we) further agree to hold the aforementioned parties harmless from any claim for loss, injury or damage to this dog. The following categories of dogs may be entered and shown in Best of Breed competition; Dogs that are Champions of Record and dogs which according to their owner s records, have completed the requirements for a championship, but whose championships are unconfirmed. The showing of unconfirmed Champions in Best of Breed competition is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where the dog completed the requirements for a championship. 3. (Event Class) Consult the classification in this premium list. If the event class in which you are entering your dog is divided, then, in addition to designating the class, specify the particular division of the class in which you are entering your dog, i.e., age division, color division, weight division. 4. A dog must be entered in the name of the person who actually owned it at the time entries for an event closed. If a registered dog has been acquired by a new owner, it must be entered in the name of its new owner in any event for which entries closed after the date of acquirement, regardless of whether the new owner has received the registration certificate indicating that the dog is recorded in his name.
