Rollin and Penny are just two of the beneficiaries of expert vet care to improve their quality of life. Thanks to the generous folks who have already sent gifts, both will be home for Christmas! Thanks to Linda and Michelle Sterner, Dixie Johnson, Magda Altmann, Mary Jane Whitt, Amy and Jeffery Corrigan, and Craig and Donna Hardy (friends of Bonnie s in JC). Our stockings won t be empty for Christmas!!! PENNY aka BELLE Can you believe that the beautiful Bullie pictured below is the same dog who came to us in October covered with sores and infections., malnourished and so weak that she could barely walk? Welcome I ll be home for Christmas! ROLLIN By now most of you know that Rollin was surrendered to Smoky Mountains St. Bernard rescue who contacted us. Rollin had a growth in his ear that turned out to be very serious. His ear was infected and the growth was hampering treatment. We took him to Dr. Mitch at Animal ER and Referral who determined that Rollin needed a total ear canal ablation. Even with the generous discount that Dr. Mitch gave us his bill was still $ The surgery was done and Rollin went home to his new family and his incision is healing well. He is hoping for an even Bigger ball from Santa! She in now in her new home and the center of attention and affection by her new family. She is so smart and has learned so many things. She didn't seem interested in toys when she first arrived, but after introducing her to several different ones, we have found a few that she really likes. It makes me sad to think that she may have never had a toy until now. Her skin looks great and her hair is growing back nicely, as you will see from her pictures! Penny s vet bills came to around $ News Flash! Penny will be in the Rescue parade at the BCA nationals on Nov. 27.

3 NEW ARRIVALS This month we welcome three new Bullies Winston aka Hoss Moses aka Mo Bronson Winston is a happy three year old Bullie who has been in foster care after he was rescued from the Animal Center. He is a well mannered Bullie who is ready for his forever home. Moe was surrendered to us after his caregiver passed away. He is a active three year old who has been neutered and is crate trained.he will need some obedience work to make him a super companion. Bronson was found laying by the side of the road by a Good Samaritan who brought him to us. He was very weak, eaten up with fleas and parasites which had left him with infected sores. He is a sweet, smart boy who just wants to be loved. He will be neutered soon. He is already crate trained and housebroken. Minutes of the Board meeting Nov. 20, 2013 The meeting was called to order at 7 pm. There was a quorum present. Report of the Secretary. Received our specialty close-out for the show from AKC. Report of the Treasurer. All the receipts were not yet in from the show. So we did not have a report. Rescue report was circulated. Report of Committees. Show discussion of 2013 show. Show went well. Ranee sent a thank you letter to Mr. Patel thanking him and complimenting his staff at the Super 8. The raffle and sales did bring in a little over $ for rescue. Once all the trophy money is in it appears we may have made a small profit. Show We have been promised the Golden Gloves arena to ourselves, since ORKC is not in the cluster there will not be obedience. We can do crating, morning hospitality, as well as evening hospitality, raffles, auctions and sales Rescue (see Excel file). Rescue has taken in 10 dogs over the past three months and placed five. We have had some extraordinary expenses: soft Palate surgery, TECA, tail surgery, dental and cleft palate surgery. Additionally several of the dogs came to us as strays and needed extra vet care. Mari hs sent out a letter asking for donations to help defray some of our expenses. She has also applied for a grant from BCARN for part of the TECA surgery. Finance Still have our major funds invested. Jayne did not have an interest amount to report. Programs Christmas party Alena s 5 pm Sunday Dec. 8; Feb program, Dr. Lively on stem cell therapy for arthritis in dogs. Several other ideas for programs were suggested. Johnathan has a friend that trains drug sniffing dogs, we will ask Debbie to give us another program on ring procedure and the Bulldog standard. Mari will do a program on 2013 rescue. Fundraising. Rescue is close to being in the red. Fund raising letter went out Monday. Grant Application for BCARN sent on Sunday. There was discussion about attending the Bully Ball in Atlanta to support GEBR which has shared some of the profits from the Ball in the past. Mari will put information in the newsletter to generate some interest. Unfinished Business -- Spring gala? We need to find a date and then let Kelly do the rest. We hope to get some ideas after attending the Bully Ball in February. There was discussion about where to hold future meetings. Nothing was decided. We do want to have more programs to attract members and a location that will allow us to bring our dogs. It would be good if we could find a more central location. First SMBC meeting of Speaker: Dr. Lively village vet will speak on stem cell therapy for arthritis in dogs. Feb. 15 Bully ball in Atlanta to support Georgia English bulldog rescue. Join us at the Smbc table. See pg 5 for details Page 4 Thank You!!!! Whew!...We did it, again!!! Thanks go out to our club members and friends for a successful specialty weekend. Specifically... Our officers and board who started in January and worked through the year planning the show and handling the many behind the scene details. Ranee Randby who did a fabulous job collecting trophy donations, did the press releases and got up VERY early to be on TV to promote the show all week. She also handled all the specialty paperwork, went to cluster meetings and dealt with MB-F, AKC and the Cluster committee. Joleen Dewald, who was on site to help out and who provided hospitality for our judge. Suzan Jordan, our show chair who provided transport for our judge and was always available to do anything that needed to be done including set up at the show site and helping with the trophies. Alena Bondarenko who did such a great job selling tickets for the raffle and who stayed to help with the cleaning and pack up. Cary Zimmerman and Corky s and The Melting Pot who provided dinner on Friday night and scrumptious chocolate fondue on Saturday night for a festive hospitality. Jonathan Borsodi who brought a generous supply of his fabulous Saw Works artisanal beers. Debbie Murmylo who ably handled ring steward responsibilities. All the good Bulldoggers who contributed to our trophy fund. You really helped to make our show a success.

5 The Fifth Annual Bully Ball Saturday, February 15th, :00pm Dinner and Casino St. Regis Atlanta, GA Spend an exquisite evening with Bullie fans and Bulldogs. Like previous years, The Bully Ball will still have many fabulous raffle, live, and silent auction items that have been donated by generous supporters of bulldog rescue. For the past several years, Georgia English Bulldog Rescue has graciously shared their proceeds with SMBCR. We want to support them in this very worthy but really funfilled event.
