Marge Macgregor, SBCA Club Historian, plus Horst & Winnie Vogel, researched the inoration below ro old SBCA correspondence and SAINT FANCIERS. This ay shed a little light on what took place during that particular tie rae and why there was not a national specialty in I have been all the way through the 1945 SBCA correspondence and there is no ention o a national specialty show in There was sort o a plan to hold a national specialty in connection with Morris and Essex in 1945 and/or a show in Plainield, NJ. The Morris and Essex show did not happen because o World War II--gas rationing, etc., etc was spent on SBCA s Constitution and By-law revisions (ongoing), plus an illegal or botched election o oicers which had to be redone ater involving the Aerican Kennel Club (AKC). Furtherore, the resignation o a couple o board ebers, and SAINT FANCIER editors (sigh), plus a big ight over the sketches or the standard between those who wanted to use Megargee's sketches and those who wanted Enno Meyer's sketches did not help atters. Marge also adds: Excerpts ro Bucks County (Pennsylvania) Kennel Club newsletter o June A Message to Washington - Again, I ask the authorities on Conventions to correct their istake and to re-classiy Dog Shows ro Trade conventions to Sporting events." "Many regulars, who have been ost aithul with entries, were there but sans dog, due to the restrictions. They could use their cars to coe to the Show, but they were prohibited ro bringing their anials because o the War Coittee on Conventions ruling." "Trenton Kennel Club is already laying plans or a BIG Match Show in the Fall. Since they are not able to hold a Point Show, due to the restrictions, it is nice to see that they are not letting circustances 'get the down', but are continuing just the sae. They had an entry o 150 at their Match on May 6th and that is darned good in anybody's League. I the ban is lited by Fall, the Match ay in all probability turn into a Point Show." Horst & Winnie Vogel also pointed out the ollowing: Last night Horst and I went through the SAINT FANCIERS. There was no reason given or no shows in 1944 & There was uch bickering and vote ixing and probles with AKC during this tie. The SBCA was split into actions and was virtually dead in the water during these years.
