Coco (13) Gender: Female Age: 2 Weight: Activity Level: Medium Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: Unknown Phoenix Cisco or Claudia Phone: Additional Information: Hi! My name is Coco, and I m one of the 3 sugar babies. You may have already read about us on Facebook We are quite popular! My two sisters (Bon Bon and Bell) and I are only 2 years old, but we have been on quite a journey already! We used to live outside and got really skinny. The man we used to live with finally took us to a vet who told him we have diabetes. He said he couldn t take care of us anymore and asked the vet to put us down. Luckily the vet s receptionist contacted DLRR who took us in! Yep, turned out they saved us and we are super thankful! All 3 of us need insulin shots, just like humans with diabetes do. My foster parents didn t have a clue how to do it, but learned quite quickly. It s all doable if you love someone It would be great if all three of us could stay together, but I understand that might be difficult. Maybe I could stay with Bell, because I really like to cuddle with her! Bell is already blind, and I m unfortunately on my way there because my diabetes wasn t taken care of in time. Although my vision is better than Bell s and am not completely blind, it makes me sad sometimes. But, good news! Bell and I have seen this doctor who thinks he can do eye surgery so that we can see again. It s not cheap, so DLRR is taking donations to help. Chances are REALLY good though that I can see again and live a happy life. I would really love that because I ve had it especially rough. You see, I also have valley fever, so it s taking more time for me to gain weight and get healthy. But I feel like I m in good care now, and I know they are doing the best they can to help me. You should also know that I m housebroken, love kids and really like my crate too! I m super thankful to our foster family, and try to tell them any chance I get by kissing their hands. Then they pet and kiss me and tell me what a good and sweet girl I am! I love it when they do that Do you want some kisses from me too? 16 March 3,
Bon Bon Gender: Female Age: 2 Weight: Activity Level: Medium Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: Unknown Phoenix Cisco or Claudia Phone: Additional Information: Hi! My name is BonBon, and I m one of the 3 sugar babies. You may have already read about us on Facebook Apparently we are quite popular! My two sisters (Coco and Bell) and I are only 2 years old, but we have been on quite a journey already! We used to live outside and got really skinny. The man we used to live with finally took us to a vet who told him we have diabetes. He said he couldn t take care of us anymore and asked the vet to put us down! Luckily the vet s receptionist contacted DLRR who took us in! Yep, turned out they saved us and we are so thankful! All 3 of us need insulin shots, just like humans with Type 1 diabetes do. My foster parents didn t have a clue how to do it, but learned quite quickly. It s all doable if you love someone What else is there to know about me? I am a super cute girl. I love to sunbathe and chase birds, but one of my favorite things to do is cuddle, I just LOVE it! My foster parents have no choice but to love to cuddle with me too because I just drop into their laps when they sit next to me. Plus my coat is sooooo soft... And my face!!! I tell ya no one can resist me! I also like to play with other dogs, because it s fun! I do like being with my sisters, but I have a feeling I d be ok on my own too. I m a big girl after all Since I do like other dogs, I d love to have a playmate though. Kids love me too and I love them as well; as long as I get belly rubs I m housebroken and really good in a crate. What do you say? Want to meet me? 17 March 3,
Clint Gender: Male Age: 2 Weight: 40 lbs. Activity Level: Medium Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: (older) (see notes) Unknown Phoenix Judy Phone: Additional Information: Hi, folks! My name is Clint and I am a very special kind of Lab. Some say I am a Bassador and some lean toward Corgidor! Look for pictures of my kind on the internet and you will be amazed at how cute we are. Lots of Lab Love in a small package!!! I look like a miniature yellow lab, weigh about 40 pounds and have the most adorable short but sturdy little legs. Everyone who meets me thinks I am the CUTEST DOG EVER! They said I am 2 but I play like a puppy! I came to DLRR by way of the border, picked up as a stray in Sonora. You would never know I was a street dog as I love to lounge on my dog bed, play with my squeaky toys, or enjoy a good belly rub. I learned to use the doggie door in one day, can pee on command when taken outside, will sit for my treats and wait until invited to eat my dinner. I love rides in the car but walks are my favorite, although I do pull some on the leash. I have been in foster care for almost 3 months, as I came down with a nasty case of the distemper virus shortly after arriving in the Phoenix area. After some very good care by my two foster moms, my vet has given me a clean bill of health! My energy level is moderate and I love, love, love to play with squeaky toys, throwing them in the air then pouncing on them! I love to fetch, too (must be the retriever in me). I have been known to take pillows off furniture and move shoes around the house, but I have only destroyed one item while in foster care and my foster family lets me have full run of the house when they leave. In my first foster home, the resident Lab and I had some disagreements and I had to move to another placement where my new foster sister was more patient with me. Out in public, there are some dogs I'm fine with and others not so much! I seem to take an immediate dislike to some dogs so, if you already have dogs at your house, we would need to meet so I could decide if we are compatible. My foster moms agree that I would be a great fit for a family with children who are over 12 years of age. I tend to be a little "mouthy" when excited and need a family to work with me on that one tiny flaw! I haven't been exposed to any cats since I have been in foster, so the jury is still out on whether I am compatible 18 with them. If you are looking for an adorably handsome, moderately energetic and loving addition to your family, I may be your guy! March 3,
Bailey (29) Gender: Female Age: 4 Weight: 88 lbs. Activity Level: Medium-High Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: See notes Unknown Phoenix Elizabeth Phone: Additional Information: Hi, my name is Bailey and I am a 4 year old alpha female. The doctor says I have some weight to lose because I weigh 88 pounds. I need a family that would walk and play with me to help get my weight down. I love my toys and my bed but I can also be very territorial with them. I am very loving but sometimes when I am excited I jump and nip. I am a beautiful girl who loves treats. I know commands like sit and shake but I am working on stay. I am doing well with my foster brother (lab) but sometimes do not understand how big I am with my foster sister (small dog). I love playing with kids but this is sometimes where I nip when I get excited. I have not met a cat and I use the doggy door like a champ. 19 March 3,
Chemata Gender: Color: Age: Male White 18 months Weight: Activity Level: Medium Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: Unknown Phoenix DeAnna Phone: Additional Information: Chemata is AMAZING! He is an 18mo. old, sweet, gentle, happy, stunning, white lab. Within the first 24 hours he has revealed that he listens impeccably. He will sit, lay down and come when called. He let me give him a bath and brush. When he was shown where all the dogs are to go potty, and given a treat when going there the first time, he now returns to the same spot when let out into our backyard. He does try to get into our unfenced pool but we have a gradual entry so I let him go in a little. He listens super well when told no. We have two teen girls and he does super well with them and with our other two male dogs. He has shown no aggression at all and is submissive to both other dogs. I have brought him to school when picking up the kids and he loves all the attention. He seemed a bit unsure about my husband and some male workers that came to the house, but wasn t unkind just a little timid. He also does jump, but not on you. It seems as if someone taught him to jump up for a treat. He is definitely playful and wants to play a lot, and has worn the other dogs out. On his first walk he pulled quite a bit but did much better when we put his gentle leader on him. We will practice and with his smarts I m sure he will pick it up right away. So far, his only negative habit has been marking in the house. However, we were told he s always been an outside dog (so sad), but I m sure getting neutered t will help that. I watch him carefully and when he looks like he might lift a leg, I say no and he doesn t do it. Our entire family would like to keep him, however, we realize that we are already fortunate to have two other great dogs and that this one will make a family very happy. I even think he would do well as a therapy dog. He s that good. Whoever gets this boy will be blessed. 20 March 3,
Hershey (15) Gender: Female Age: 11.5 Weight: 86 lbs. Activity Level: Low-Medium Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: Unknown See notes Unknown Phoenix Britt Phone: Addional Informaon: OH MY GOSH I LOVE YOU!!! I might be a "senior" but with my super cool meds (Tramadol and Rimadyl) I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE being an active sweetheart! Walks? MY FAVORITE! Toys? MY FAVORITE! Toys that squeak? MY FAVORITE! Love and pets? MY FAVORITE! Food? MY FAVORITE! Soft comfy beds? MY FAVORITE! You?? MY FAVORITE! Sorry, I got distracted for a second! My foster mama says I'm her favorite Hershey's kiss, her little mochachino. I think that's good? I am SO loving and SO fun and SO happy to be with you! I don't require a ton of exercise, but did you see that I LOVE my walks?? I'm a very faithful companion and will take alllllll the loves you can give, but when you're done, I'm happy to go snooze on a bed not too far away from you! I'm perfect in the house (if you don't mind picking up the remains of toys that I enjoy destroying!) and I am an expert at that doggie door thing! I take my food last (do I really have to wait for my foster brother and sister to eat first?) and I don't get territorial with food. I do LOVE my toys, so if you have another doggie, I'm going to try to play with him or her and I might decide they CAN'T play with my toys, As long as I have boundaries and a safe place to call my own I'm perfect! My foster mama has a crate with a super cushy bed for me if I want to go into "my" room, but I really don't go in there anymore because I LOVE being with my family! So who is perfect for me? A lower energy home with a mama and/or daddy who can appreciate that I love to play and walk, but that I do have my limits. I need to meet any other doggies and I might have a transition/adjustment period figuring out where I fit in, but once I do, I'm PERFECT! Actually, I'm perfect just the way I am! I do take medicine with each meal - some little pink thing for my thyroid and that awesome Rimadyl and Tramadol to keep me active! Can I meet you and give you super sweet kisses? 21 March 3,
Princess (9) Gender: Female Age: 7 Weight: 38 lbs. Activity Level: Medium-High Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: Phoenix Michelle Phone: Addional Informaon: Hello... I am Princess, a six year old chocolate lab mix and I am looking for an active family, preferably with children because I love to play with them. I have been with my foster family for a couple weeks and they say I am very "busy." I do settle down, especially if there is a tennis ball to chew on! I often sit in front of them and then lay my head in their laps. I mind pretty well and cannot get enough of your attention, I love to play! My foster mom throws the ball for me every morning and I always bring it back to her. Other than being a little underweight (38 pounds), I am very healthy. They say I have a problem with my pancreas, but all it requires is some special food ($70 for a big bag) and some powdered stuff you put into my food. I love taking walks and would be a good companion on a run. My tail was cropped as a puppy but I'm not sure why. That doesn't change my beauty one bit. I love to play with my older foster brother, but sometimes I forget my boundaries and sleep halfway on him. He doesn't seem to mind. I found the kitties my foster mom has and have learned that they are not to be messed with. I'm still curious about them but mostly leave them alone-they do have sharp claws! I do love to eat but am not allowed to have too many treats. However, you will find me in your kitchen wanting to help you when you cook. I LOVE being with my people. My birthday is March 17th so if you want to meet me and keep me, we can have a big celebration of my seventh birthday. I look forward to meeting you soon! 22 March 3,
DLRR Black Pearls DLRR is committed to saving the lives of Labrador Retrievers, but perhaps these black dogs are the ones who need us most because they simply do not get noticed. According to the President of the Los Angeles SPCA, black dogs are: the hardest to adopt out, they are in shelters the longest and therefore, they are most likely to be euthanized if nothing happens. This unfortunate phenomenon has a name: Black Dog Syndrome. If you are thinking about adopting a dog, please don t overlook black dogs, they are just as loving and wonderful as lighter colored dogs! To find out more please visit 23
Bell Gender: Female Age: 2 Weight: Activity Level: Medium Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: Unknown Phoenix Cisco or Claudia Phone: Addional Informaon: Hi! My name is Bell, and I m one of the 3 sugar babies. You may have already read about us on Facebook My two sisters (Coco and Bon Bon) and I are only 2 years old, but we have been on quite a journey already! Maybe I could just stay with Coco, because I really like to cuddle with her! Coco is going blind too, just like me. I m actually blind already because my diabetes wasn t treated, but I heard rumors they are trying to do eye surgery so that I can see again. It s not cheap, so DLRR, who rescued us, is taking donations to help. Chances are REALLY good that I can see again and live a happy life. That s what the eye specialist said. Wouldn t that be cool?!?! Oh, how I d love to be able to see again and not bump into stuff and be able to goof around. I do manage pretty well, even being blind, but I do remember what it was like when I was able to see, and it was pretty neat! I miss it Of course I m housebroken and I am really good in the crate. I actually kinda like it! My foster family always tells me I m so lovable and such a pretty girl. I can t see myself in the mirror, but I hope they are right. Do you want to find out for yourself? 24 March 3,
Noelle (2) Gender: Female Age: 2 Weight: 68 lbs. Activity Level: High Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: Unknown Tucson Lisa Phone: Addional Informaon: Noelle is the sweetest cuddlebug. She is 68 lbs. of silky smooth black 2 year old buddle of love. She loves all people. Noey as we call her will climb in lap scrunch and contort her body just to sit with you. She is a true velcro dog. She wants to be with you at all times. Noey will follow you anywhere that s how much she loves people. We have been working on the personal space issue with her. Usually I can get her to sit next to me by patting the chair next to the one I'm sitting in and tell her settle then she will sit in the chair and stare at me with her longing eyes. It s very hard to resist her when she turns those soulful eyes on you. Noey is heartworm positive, on medication but the good news it was caught in the early stages. Noey is fine in a crate, doggie door trained and house broke, great with kids, and other dogs. She hasn t met any cats. She is still working on leash manners. For being a compact little girl she is strong she pulls on her leash. She is a high energy girl. 25 March 3,
Eva Gender: Female Age: 3 Weight: 68 lbs. Activity Level: Low-Medium Children: Dogs: Cats: Location: Contact: (older) Unknown Tucson Lisa Phone: Addional Informaon: Eva 3 year old black female who weighs 68 lbs. came to DLRR pregnant. She was found in a parking lot wandering in the rain. This sweet girl also has 2 different types of tick fever which she is on medication for. We think that is why she lost her babies. Eva is a calm sweet girl. She gets excited to eat breakfast and dinner. She does a little prancing dance for her food and eats it very slowly to savor every bite. She has fondness for sleeping in her doggie bed. She has never played with toys here in her foster home. Eva really loves to be scratched behind the ears and go on walks. If you are looking for a calm angel then Eva is your girl. She also smiles a toothy grin when she is really happy. She doesn t get on furniture nor does she counter surf. She may only be around 3 years old but acts older and wiser than she is. She gets along with dogs, hasn t been around cats and is fine with children who are older. Eva is a very smart girl she learned the doggie door very quickly and has never had an accident inside the house. 26 March 3,
