Everyone had a great time anyhow. There is a method to our madness. If we had scheduled a pool party the hurricane would have come for sure. Thanks to Ellen for hosting our annual post Terrier Group show party. Now we have the Tom Lams Seminars coming up in a couple of weeks. The pre-registration has gone much better that last year. We have filled up both days and have registered several auditors as well. We should make a few dollars this year. Thank you Conni for taking this project to the success it has become. The Montgomery County Terrier shows in the Philadelphia area is just one month away. I m sure the Tampa Bay Terrier Club will be well represented as usual. Good luck to all our members making the trek up north for these shows. Linda and I will be flying up this year. I have been asked to judge the Kerry Blue Terrier National Futurity and will not Continued on Page 3

2 General Meeting Minutes The General Meeting of the Tampa Bay Terrier Club was held at Ellen Axelrod s home during the Hurricane Party. The meeting was called to order by President Anthony Lopez at 4:30 pm. There were 21 club members present. A motion was made and passed to accept the Minutes of the June General Meeting as published in the Terrier Spotlite. The Treasurer s report was read by Linda Lopez and a motion was made and passed to accept and file it with the Secretary s Report. Corresponding Secretary Ellen Axelrod received notice from AKC that the 2006 show was completed and paperwork for the 2007 show. Committee Reports - Membership Lynne Whitney read the applications from Laurie Slater and Randy and Lorrie Limitone and the membership voted them into the Club, Laurie as an associate member and Randy and Lorrie as regular member. Lynne also received an application from Dave Yeager for associate membership. His application will be read at the September board meeting and published in the next newsletter. The new membership list has been completed and was handed out at the meeting. Members are urged to let Conni know of any changes or corrections. They will be published in the newsletter. Programs Anthony will look for a Rat Terrier person who can present a program on the Rat Terrier. Website Linda will change the Website to put the B-Match and upcoming Christmas party on the home page. Anthony says it would cost $1, to have our website listed first when searching online for Tampa Bay terriers. Another way to have our site listed higher is to link it to others. Anthony will check with the Webmaster on any other means. Hospitality Linda and Anthony are responsible for September s hospitality. Historian Let Joe Whitney know if you want a copy of the CD that was running at the Annual Banquet. Show Conni Adams reported that the show made a small profit. Anthony passed around a list of possible judges for the 2008 shows. The 2007 judges are Peggy Haas, Elaine Young and Provisional Edward Haas. Jamie Abhalter and Don and Sue Porterfield will take over trophies for next year and Ellen will continue as Chief Ring Steward. Unfinished Business Tom Lams Seminar The participant slots are nearly full. We can sign up as many auditors as possible. B-Match The match flyer for the October 29 th match is complete. New Business The Annual Holiday Party will be held on December 30 th this year. Brags. The meeting was adjourned at 5:15 pm. 5 DOG SHOW BARBIE CONFORMATION BARBIE This top selling, perfectly coiffed Barbie comes with a dozen color-coordinated suits (all with convenient and roomy pockets for show bait and brushes) and classy but comfortable flats (for running frantically around the grounds and ring). She can carry an A-frame panel with one arm and set up all of the contact obstacles single-handedly. Barbie comes complete with a full set of agility equipment, lawn chair, cooler, stopwatch, batteryoperated fans, an open-sided tent for shade, sunscreen, bug spray, rain suit, waterproof boots, 57 different agility rule books for all occasions, and her very own courier (Ken) who can hand deliver agility entries to the most popular trials and stand in line for Barbie. Unlike most Barbies, this Barbie always has a "bad hair day" so it's best to leave a hood or the baseball cap over her hair at all times. Included in the deluxe version is Barbie's tracking dog "Pokealong's Can't Find Squat TD", or "Sniffer", a Siberian Husky who comes with his own harness and rope as well as a lifetime supply of hot dogs. Sniffer has been known to eat start articles with one gulp and turn the start flag into a large toy at TDX tests, grabbing it in his mouth and running in large circles around the field (especially when there is a large audience watching). This version also comes with a case of Valium for Tracking Judge Barbie for this very reason. This is the most expensive Barbie and most collectors prefer to leave her in the original box. EARTHDOG BARBIE Barbie comes with her very own monogrammed shovel, a custom-built liner for training, and a cage with three live rats. Also included are several pair of jeans, flannel shirts, t-shirts, rain gear, sunscreen, bug spray, and waterproof boots. Barbie comes with several small terriers (you choose the breed) and two first aid kits (one for the dogs when they get in fights, and one for Barbie when she gets her hand in the way) as well as a.38 revolver for emergencies (don't ask). This version of Barbie can be removed from the box but some collectors prefer to leave the terriers in the original box. And last, but not least, the most popular one of all is the DOG CLUB PRESIDENT BARBIE who comes with TWO cases of Miss Clairol hair color (to color her own gray hair), a monogrammed strait jacket, a leather-bound copy of Robert's Rules of Order, and a gold-plated gavel. The gavel unscrews at the end and is secretly a.357 magnum which can be used to keep unruly club members under control or just get rid of them all together! 6 HOW TO GRADE YOUR DOG S FOOD Start with a grade of 100: 1) For every listing of "by-product", subtract 10 points 2) For every non-specific animal source ("meat" or "poultry", meat, meal or fat) reference, subtract 10 points 3) If the food contains BHA, BHT, or ethoxyquin, subtract 10 points 4) For every grain "mill run" or non-specific grain source, subtract 5 points 5) If the same grain ingredient is used 2 or more times in the first five ingredients (I.e.
