3 ALL ABOUT PARKING 2019 (provided by GKC) Day parking is provided and facilitated by the Morgan Hill Outdoor Sports Complex. Gavilan Kennel Club has no authority over issues regarding day parking. Handicapped parking is available. Gavilan Kennel Club and SSCNC assume no responsibility or liability for damage or loss to any vehicle, its contents, or dogs. Fire lanes must be kept open at all times. Vehicles subject to towing at owner s expense with no prior notice. Gates will open each day at 6 AM and close at 9 PM. No entrance before or after these hours. Day Parking Fees will be collected at all gates. DAY OF SHOW PARKING opens at 6 AM ALL EXHIBITORS AND SPECTATORS MUST PAY PARKING FEES $10 EACH DAY OVERNIGHT PARKING 1. Unreserved overnight is $65 per night (CASH only) (Saturday morning arrival $100) 2. No electrical hookups available 3. All vehicles must be self-contained. No discharge of gray water or sanitary tanks on the ground or in open containers 4. There are no dump stations on grounds 5. Those wishing to park together must send in same envelope prior to closing date 6. All RVs must have working fire extinguisher 7. No open fires allowed 8. All vehicles in Overnight Parking Area must be registered with Gavilan KC 9. Gavilan KC passes issued for vans and tag-along vehicles for parking within RV area. 6 Best of Breed Competition The following categories of dogs may be entered and shown in Best of Breed Competition: Dogs that are Champions of Record; and Dogs that are Champions of Record which according to their owner s records have completed the requirements for a championship but whose championships are unconfirmed. The entry and showing of dogs whose championships are unconfirmed is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where a dog completed the requirements for a championship according to the owner s records. If, at the end of the 90 day period, the championship of a dog has not been confirmed by The American Kennel Club, no further entries of the dog for Best of Breed competition are to be made until its championship has been confirmed by the AKC. Award of Merit: At his/her discretion, the judge may present one Award of Merit rosette for every seven entries in Best of Breed competition excluding Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed, Select Dog, Select Bitch, Winners Dog & Winners Bitch, that by virtue of their placement, have already been recognized. BREED PRIZES The SSCNC wishes to thank its members and friends who make our show prizes possible through their donations. Prizes and donors will be listed in the catalog, and except as noted will be offered by the Shetland Sheepdog Club of Northern California, Inc. and our members. This is a Condensed Premium List as authorized by the American Kennel Club, Rules Applying to Dog Shows, Chapter 6, Section 2A. In accordance with these rules, a list of breed and obedience prizes and trophies offered at this Show can be obtained by writing to the Show Secretary. Veteran Sweepstakes shall be divided into four age classes (as named below) two for each sex and judged down to fourth place. PUPPY SWEEPSTAKES Fee $10.00 which is added to the regular entry fee. Entry is made by marking in Additional Class on the regular entry form Sweepstakes and the age class. All entries in the Sweepstakes must also be entered in a Regular Class. RUNNER-UP TO BEST IN SWEEPSTAKES: Shall be chosen from remaining finalists and second place from the class of the BIS Winner. ELIGIBILITY: The Sweepstakes shall be open to any Shetland Sheepdog eligible for competition in the regular AKC classes whose age will be no less than six months and under eighteen months on the day of the judging. The exception to this rule is as follows: No Dog which has completed the requirements for a championship prior to the date of judging shall compete in the judging of the sweepstakes. INELIGIBLE DOGS: Should it be that an ineligible dog has received an award in the Sweepstakes, the person to whom such award was presented shall make restitution to the Club and such award shall be deemed to have been won by the dog judged second to the dog declared ineligible. The prize money and other awards shall then be redistributed to conform to the rules. VETERAN SWEEPSTAKES Entry fee is $13.00 as an additional or only class. Veteran Sweepstakes is open to all Shetland Sheepdogs eligible for competition in the regular AKC classes, which on the day of the show will be at least seven years of age. Veteran Sweepstakes entries need not be entered in any regular or non-regular classes. Entrants do not need to be titled to compete and sexually altered veterans may compete. Classification Dogs, 7 years and under 11 years Bitches, 7 years and under 11 years Dogs, 11 years and older Bitches, 11 years and older Class winners will compete for Best in Veteran Sweepstakes and runner-up to Best in Veteran Sweepstakes. DIVISION OF THE STAKES FOR PUPPY SWEEPSTAKES & VETERAN SWEEPSTAKES. The Graduate Novice class is an optional class that may be offered by clubs at obedience events. Judges for this class must be approved to judge Novice or higher classes. The owner or any other person may handle dogs in this class. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. However, if a person has handled more than one dog in the first five exercises, that person must provide a handler for the additional dog in the same Long Down exercise. If eligible as defined in these regulations, dogs entered in Graduate Novice may also be entered in any other obedience classes. Dog means either sex No refund for bitches in season Move-Ups will be accepted if made in writing to the Show Secretary at least 30 minutes prior to the commencement of judging. JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP COMPETITION AKC Junior Handler Numbers are now required for entry in Junior Showmanship Competition. Every blank MUST be filled out with the necessary information, otherwise the entry in Junior Showmanship will not be accepted. NOVICE JUNIOR CLASS: For Boys and Girls who are at least 9 years and under 12 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have not won three First Places, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. NOVICE INTERMEDIATE CLASS: For Boys and Girls who are at least 12 years and under 15 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have not won three First Places, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. NOVICE SENIOR CLASS: For Boys and Girls who are at least 15 years and under 18 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have not won three First Places, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. OPEN JUNIOR CLASS: For Boys and Girls who are at least 9 years and under 12 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have won three First Places, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. OPEN INTERMEDIATE CLASS: For Boys and Girls who are at least 12 years and under 15 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have won three First Places, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. OPEN SENIOR CLASS: For Boys and Girls who are at least 15 years and under 18 years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have won three First Places, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or member show. MASTER CLASS: This class will be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years old and under 18 years old on the day of the show, and who, at the time entries close, have won ten First Places, with competition present, in an Open Class at a licensed or member club. The calendar for this class will be November 1 October 31 of the following year. All Juniors meeting the criteria for this class are required to enter the Master Class and may change their entry without charge, the day of the show if entries have already closed. Once the eligibility time frame for that year has passed, all participants return to the Open Class to compete for the following year. NOTICE JUNIORS WHO SUBSTITUTE FOR THE ORIGINAL DOG THEY HAVE ENTERED IN THE JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP CLASSES WITH DOGS THAT ARE NOT ENTERED IN ONE OF THE OFFERED CLASSES AT THIS SHOW MUST REMIT THE JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP ONLY ENTRY FEE WITH THEIR SUBSTITUTION. 8 ADDITIONAL RULES Exhibitors must obey (abide by) all regulations of the management of the facility owning the show site. ONLY DOGS THAT ARE ELIGIBLE to be shown under the American Kennel Club Rules shall be allowed within the show limits. ENTRIES: Conditional, unsigned, incomplete entries will not be accepted. Facsimile, credit or debit card are no longer accepted (see page 2 for alternatives). Telegraph or telephone entries cannot be accepted.
