3 President s Message On behalf of the and the Collie Club of British Columbia, I welcome everyone to our Specialties. Thank you to the exhibitors for supporting our Specialties, we really really appreciate the support! Thank you to our judges, Carole, Jackie and Marcy for judging our Collies. I am sure you will have a wonderful time. Thank you to everyone who has helped put on this show. Just as we wouldn't have a show without exhibitors and judges, we also would not have a show without all the volunteers. Thank you to everyone who has supported our fundraising, either by buying tickets on raffles or donating items to our raffles. A special thank you to Carol Gordon Stroshein who is always up for organizing a successful raffle and to Cheryl Ellis who organized a club social and raffle in the summer. Thank you to Laura Ahern-Weiss, Melinda Barber and Candace Hunter for trophies. When our expected trophy order was derailed by Hurricane Harvey, there was a bit of a scramble for replacement trophies for the National. Both Laura and Melinda made items "from scratch" with very little time. The fancy (and myself) are very lucky to have these friends!! Thank you to everyone who made trophy donations. Thank you to Ev Crawford, who has ring stewarded every year since the first Specialties were held in B.C. in It is always great to know that our judges are in such capable hands during their assignments. Thank you to Sandi at Classic Show Services. Your professional, prompt service is the best. Collie Specialties are a chance to showcase the breed that we love, catch up with old friends and make new ones. Supporting breed club events is so important for the vitality and continuation of those clubs. Cost - $20 per person for a variety of dishes or you can individually order and pay the price listed on the menu. There will be a raffle at the banquet with lots of wonderful items! Pre-payment is NOT required but we need to confirm numbers so please let Susan Bertrand know at rainfst@attglobal.net prior to the show or in person at the show on Friday, October 6 th. 7 RAFFLES We will be offering a raffle during the weekend as a joint fundraiser for the and the Collie Club of B.C. There is also a joint raffle of a portrait of a Collie of your choice by Kristyna Cockroft. Tickets can be purchased for this raffle at the show. If you are unable to attend but would like to purchase tickets to support the clubs, please contact Susan Bertrand. Tickets: 1 for $2 3 for $5 JUNIOR HANDLING - For Collies Only Saturday, October 7 th, 2017 following the CCC National Conformation Judging Sunday, October 8 th, 2017 following the CCBC Conformation Judging Judges: CCC tbd CCBC - Marcy Fine Entries will be accepted at the show secretary s desk one hour prior with no exceptions. $2.00 entry fee. The following classes will be provided: Pee Wee (non-competitive) - 4 to 6 years Junior Novice - 7 to 10 years Junior Open - 7 to 10 years Intermediate Novice 11 to 14 years Intermediate Open 11 to 14 years Senior Novice - 15 to 18 years Senior Open 15 to 18 years Competition is open to all Junior Handlers between the ages of 4 and up to 18 years of age (of the competition year). Pee Wees do not compete for best overall. Dogs handled by the juniors must be entered in a Regular Conformation class or in Exhibition Only at this group specialty. Dogs do not need to be owned by the junior. Pee Wees - participation ribbon Best Overall Handler rosette 1 st in each class rosette Please note that effective January 1, 2016, in accordance with Section of the Junior Handling Rules & Regulations, Junior Handlers will be required to apply to CKC Head Office for a Junior Handling Number. Section Junior Handler with the exception of Pee Wees, must apply to CKC Head Office on the appropriate form for a Junior Handling Number within 30 days of competing in their first Junior Handling event. This Junior Handling Number will be used by the Junior Handler for the duration of their Junior Handling career. If a Junior Handling number is not obtained, Junior Handling points earned will not be tracked.

14 CCC SWEEPSTAKES 5:00 pm FRIDAY, October 6 th, 2017, Ring 7 Rough and Smooth will be judged together. Juvenile Sweepstakes Judge: Jackie Vetter-Wilson Juvenile Sweepstakes is open to all Collie puppies six months and under eighteen months of age regardless of place of birth. All dogs must be entered in one of the regular official classes on the same day. Dogs will be judged in one of the following six classes (divided by sex): Junior Puppy - 6 months and under 9 months Senior Puppy - 9 months and under 12 months Juvenile Puppy - 12 months and under 18 months For final judging, the first place puppy from each of the classes will be brought together for the final judging of Best in Sweepstakes and Best Opposite Sex in Sweepstakes Best in Sweepstakes - rosette & 25% of total fees collected for Juvenile Sweepstakes Best Opposite Sex in Sweepstakes rosette & 10% of total fees collected for Juvenile Sweepstakes 1 st in each class - rosette & 15% of class fees collected 2 nd in each class - rosette & 15% of class fees collected 3 rd and 4 th in each class - rosette & 5% of class fees collected 25% of fees collected will be retained by the club to defray costs Veteran Sweepstakes Judge: Jackie Vetter-Wilson ~ following the judging of the Juvenile Sweepstakes Veteran Sweepstakes is open to all Collie dogs 7 years of age and over and entered in a regular class or for exhibition only on the same day. 27 CANADIAN KENNEL CLUB SCHEDULE OF CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS SECTION 2. The schedule to be employed in the determination of the number of points to be allocated to a dog awarded WINNERS shall be as follows: (*Includes the dog awarded Winners.) Dogs Competing* to 5 6 to 9 10 to or more Points Allocated* To determine the number of championship points earned by a dog awarded Winners, total all the dogs in competition which the dog defeated, directly or indirectly, for the highest of the following official breed awards: Winners, Best of Winners, Best of Breed or Best of Opposite Sex and then consult the schedule set forth above. A dog that is disqualified, dismissed, excused or ordered from the ring by the judge shall not be included in the calculation for championship points. Further section {C} has been added and states the dog must: have earned at least one 2 point win either at the breed level or group level. The system provides for additional points if a dog awarded winners also places in the Group as listed here under.
