1 Prestige Philately - Auction No 176 Page: 1 NEW ZEALAND - Advertising Stamps Advertising stamps are one of the most strikng innovations of the Post ffice in New Zealand. Sadly, they flopped in the marketplace & production ceased after only seven months. All of the material in this section is from the extensive collection of "Adsons" formed by Charles and Francis Kiddle RDP from England. This is a fascinating subject, into which the Brothers Kiddle have done extensive research, which is reflected on their album pages. Ex Lot A/A- Selection comprising 1d x21 (including 4 pairs & a strip of 3), 2d x9 (including two pairs & a strip of 3), 3d x6, 4d x8 & 5d x2 all with unusual cancellations including Railway TPs x12, boxed 'LSE LETTER' x10, and arrival cancels of Hobart, Sydney x11 & Suva, generally fine. (35 items) 250T Lot W* A-/B SPECIMEN STAMPS: Perf 10 3d & 5d x2 (one with a small stain, the other with pre-printing paper crease & large-part o.g.) each with seriffed 'SPECIMEN' h/s in violet, all-different advertisements, Cat 530 as unused stamps. Very scarce. 300T Lot W* A/B SPECIMEN STAMPS: Perf 10 2½d (no gum), 3d (two small thins), 4d (creased), 5d & 8d each with seriffed 'SPECIMEN' h/s in violet, all-different advertisements. Very scarce. 750T 635 Ex Lot 635 FIRST SETTING: 1d rose complete reconstruction of the 240 positions, condition variable, Cat 1680 minimum. (240)
